I am watching this in a coffee shop and I am laughing to tears. Dave was just amazing, turning nothing into comedic gold.
It's funny... I cried laughing when I saw it when it aired, but I still find I have the same reaction. So many shows have such canned jokes, but here are guys reacting in real time to something ridiculous, and it's somehow ten times funnier than a lot of stuff people put a lot of effort into.

Dave had no problem admitting when something was going badly, and then proceed to completely drive it into the ground.

I remember when we used the term "Internet Addiction" or "Computer Addiction" but now with smart phones everyone fits into that term and you never hear jt anymore

I did not expect the writers to go all-in on how many of them didn't look like Dave at all XD love that turnaround, just brilliant!
The second guy was the closest resemblance of Dave to me.
The first 4 were all remarkably similar, but yes number two was uncanny. Like Dave’s actual Doppelgänger.

God, how I miss Dave....;/ He really was the joy at the end of a long hard day for me. No one has replaced him, certainly not the puppets flip-flopping for Network executives we have today! I hope he knows he is dearly missed! Much love from Montreal, Canada xxx²
Tv isn’t for entertainment anymore. Until people stand up for themselves and demand something better we’ll never have anything close. There are greats out there but TV is about training the masses to hate themselves.
I can only watch Kimmel... he has some pretty good writers, but I get that the politics can definitely turn people off

I thought I was the only one who laughed my ass off at this. The more sideways a sketch is, the funnier Dave gets. I got the impression the writers may have had some difficulty pulling decent stuff together, then just threw it on his desk anyways knowing Dave (and Paul) would make it gold. This would have been a dud in the hands of someone that's not naturally funny.

Big agree. I'm happy that so far they haven't done any takedowns... the one guy has provided me literally weeks of entertainment while I work. And having this official channel with sanctioned classics makes it all better!

I laughed so hard. Miss my Letterman. You gotta be able to laugh at yourself.
I remember a bit with "sideburn tape" (basically a roll of hairy scotch tape that you could tear off into pieces to yourself sideburns or a 'stache). Dave put some on his upper lip and commented how much he looked like Buddy Ebsen. They put up a pic next to him and the resemblance was uncanny.
There was one during the 90s where he looked like Dave back when he started the show. A while later he showed it again and underneath it said David Letterman 1978.
I wish I could find that again.

@@csaunderson - It depends on which version of the MLA was in vogue the last time you were in school. I prefer the period outside the quotes, it only makes sense and the MLA editors will return to the correct usage again sooner or later.

Sometime around 1989, Dave showed a photo someone sent in of a guy at their workplace who they thought looked like him. It got big laughs because the resemblance was uncanny, mostly due to the gap in his teeth and hair that looked like the Gulf of Mexico. Just ask Don to check his database. It would make a hilarious addendum to this great bit!
#2 was so close he could host the show, or at least pass for his twin brother.

This is so brilliant. The writers play a prank on Letterman and at the same time knowing that Dave has the talent to turn nothing into pure comedy.
Paul's laugh totally made this bit... especially the bit at @7:00... his "That's very sporting of you to put it that way!" while cracking up, slays me!

The one guy looked much more like Toby from The Office than Dave. The audience was much better than Dave at picking who looked more like Dave. The hockey guy easily won.

This segment was basically just a prank on Dave by his staff.

Yeah, there was a University of Wisconsin chem prof that really did look like Dave. At an extension campus in Wausau. I didn’t have him, but often saw him. I want to say Borger, or something like that. It was uncanny.

Took me a second to realize the real point of the bit was the guys who _don't_ look like Dave.
The coach was the closest. If either the coach loses weight or Dave gains weight they will look extremely similar.
