I love my Kershaw Blur Glassbreaker! I wish they would have different blade options for the blur like a recurve, clip point, or a more standard drop point. The blur is a great knife but the option I’ve found is more like a spear point which is still awesome.
I'm not only cool with it, I am so happy. I want another player pushing this market to better materials, quality, and affordability. I love that the Bel Air is USA made with a Magnacut blade, and I was able to pick up the aluminum handled (they did a great job with this) version for $140. Competition is good for the customers and good for innovation.
I just bought the Bel Air in Magnacut, SO GOOD! I bought so many 8Cr Kershaws in my 20’s cuz I didn’t know any better, but their USA made stuff is SO GOOD that I own a couple of Launches, I own two Blurs and two premium Links! I wish they would get rid of the 8Cr and d2 outright and go with 9Cr18 or 14C on ALL their budget stuff then I’d buy more!
@cal1776 Maybe so, but it's not for me. For budget knives, I like 14c28n or VG10, and if I need more edge retention, I break out the s30v s45vn or the 20cv. I still need to a magnacut blade. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
@@charlesdudek7713 14C28N is great stuff also, I have one knife in Magnacut that I really like. My point was D2 like all knife steel needs a good HT, on a blade with good geometry. When it's not done right the steel can get a bad reputation.
@cal1776 Yeah I don't disagree if you can get a guarantee it's properly heat treated. My main issue is D2 isn't stainless and it's not all that enjoyable to sharpen. On the stainless topic I keep my knives dry and it's humid about two months a year where I live and yet a couple of months ago I disassembled an Elementum of mine and the blade was rusted around the pivot hole. Somebody at the factory may have had sweaty hands because the reason I was taking it apart was through the ultem scales I could see that the liner was also rusting. The knife was about three weeks old. I realize the liners are supposed to be stainless but someone forgot to tell the liners. :)
For me. Kershaw was a "begginer" knife brand. But verry soon to upgrade to other brands. They're good beater knives and pretty replaceable. They are very much "behind" on their materials and value for the past decades Altho they did make a few bangers. And always had good fixes blades. I'm glad they kinda punched up in recent years tho. I want an iridium or bel.air with g10 tho
I like Kershaw, my two recent purchases are the Bel Air and Iridium with the topographical s ales and 14C28N steel. I agree that D2 isnt everyone's favorite, but a step up from 8Cr.
I have a Natrix in 8cr or 9cr, I’m not sure which one and it’s been great. I have the Iridium aluminum just like yours and the King of my Kershaw collection is the Launch 16.
Kershaw is def killin it. My only small issue is i hate there pocket clips. Improve that amd uve got something. The livewire and belair is what got me looking at kershaw for the first time ever
I like the new knives. I don't like them pricing them like their WE or ZT. I wont new knives always lol. Glad your still making content Peter. Say Hi to your better half from me.
im a spyderco guy and when i was out traveling last month i found myself in walmart looking at knifes and i saw the mini iridium in ice blue, the price tag that was next to it was $20 so i said ill try this out. went to selfcheck out and it was actually a $50 knife. still bought and has been in my edc since.
So apparently I'm moving into the venerated elder category of knife guy and I was a Kershaw fan boy from day one, and this was when Kershaw was still owned by Pete Kershaw and bringing their knives in from Japan from their partnership with Kai or still building pretty much everything in America. So what I'm trying to say here is is that I've seen this entire trajectory of their company over 40 plus years and I couldn't be happier to where they are at now. And unlike Gerber they didn't let their budget line turn into junk, and they didn't follow CRKT's model of overpricing their collaborations with well-known knife designers. And in recent years they have been able to expand the Kershaw American made line which is always a bonus.
I have that same version of the Iridium (original in D2). It immediately became my favorite edc and I used the help out of it daily and on job sites. It is still sharp!
I made a comment recently on another channel about Kershaw doing this type of product. Improvements in material and design in order to survive as a real contender.
This is the same way I feel about Crkt, I think they have some awesome designs and when they release knives with good quality materials they are great but the tend to be a little to pricey.
Do you have any info about Kershaw hrc testing? I can't find anything. I was considering the Iridium, but I'm a very fastidious person, so I don't like to purchase a knife without seeing some info about heat testing.
@natebrown6460 I haven’t seen anything particular. But more importantly I haven't seen anyone complaining about the heat treat.. and if it was an issue we'd hear about it.
I have 95 Kershaw old models, I liked them till 2 years but decided to stop buying their knives. Now I'm selling my whole collection without 5 usa models which are my favourite.
My everyday beater knife is a Kershaw. Never had a problem with it. Still holds a good, sharp edge and is dependable in all aspects. I have a Benchmade Bugout and was disappointed with what it is and for the price. I think Benchmade is vastly overpriced and overrated.
I'm always glad to see good things from Kershaw. Great video Peter
That Bel Air is gorgeous!
Huge fan of kershaw brand ❤😊
Kershaw is knocking it out of the park. Still carry my Faultline at least once a week. The Iridium and the Bel Air are phenomenal knives

I respect Kershaw for changing their brand image so successfully.
Pretty sure that all of the designs on your table there are Andrew Keel’s work. He’s been a breath of fresh air for the company.

I totally agree. When it comes to Kershaw, that's all I buy is the American made stuff. I don't care for D2 at all.
D2 is good stuff with the right HT,

Had the budget Highball, always wished there was a premium version. Never knew about the SMKW premium version. Would have bought it in a heart beat.😢
I love love love love my Belair. Such a great knife. Plus made in the USA. WIN WIN WIN

Don’t forget to put some respect on their assisted and auto knives. The Blur in particular has long been a value king.

First knife was a budget Kershaw and Kershaw/ZT was the focus of my early knife-loving. Branched out since then but really love this resurgence.

Have always liked Kershaw, thanks Señor Pedro 👍

@paulbesemer6090 she says "Hi Paul" 🙂
Kershaw should make a premium version of the Cryo. Also make premium knives in premium steels
I got them .love them.a winner 🏆 knive company.kershaw.👍

It is good to see Kershaw back in the game.

I have that m390 iridium its badass!! Cant wait to see what they have in store for 2025.

I made a similar video the other day just talking about how good Kershaw is right now. My personal favorite is my Bel Air.
I sub'd.. you've got a good channel going!
@ATherapeuticEdge thanks man. I'll do the same.
I have the smkw exclusive highball xl in titanium and s35vn from a year or two ago and its fantastic!
Kershaw has been held back by ZT. That’s where the more premium knives lived. Totally agree about them needing to push the Kershaw brand .
This is the same way I feel about Crkt, I think they have some awesome designs and when they release knives with good quality materials they are great but the tend to be a little to pricey.

@@ATherapeuticEdge Makes sense, I've heard some pretty ugly rumors about the Benchmade Bugout.
There keepers. Cold dead fingers.

Scott Fitzgerald? Asking for a friend.
Kershaw doing to much in China.
@Edcreviewer well.. I'd rather not pay $100 for their budget line. So China it is.
