Corfu, Greece in the late 1970s (1978) - unique footage in color!

The old Corfu on amazing, archival footage taken in the late 1970s (September of 1978). That's how the island looked like at that time! You will see merchants, buildings, shops, citizens and tourists in Corfu in September 1978.
Shots were made by Claude Lanzmann and his crew during the preparation for "Shoah". He filmed and interviewed Jews that survived Holocaust and deportation to Auschwitz and Birkenau.

I was a backpacker in Corfu and Greece in 1972, stayed at Agios Ioannis "cactus" hotel and Kontokali Youth Hostel as well as wild camping. Went back in 73 with two mates on bicycles for trip round Greece finishedin Corfu. Roads fairly empty. Lots of beautiful empty undeveloped beaches and coastline. A green paradise THEN!!! @@@!!

H Kερκυρα τοτε ηταν ενα ονειρο!!!Ειχε πολυ τουρισμο!!Καθαρο τουρισμο!!Ειμασταν με το μπλε καικι μας στο Club Mediteranee στην Δασια!!Καλοκαιρια 1974 --1980 θα μου μεινουν αξεχαστα!!Ημουν τυχερος που την ειδα απο κοντα 5 καλοκαιρια την καλη τουριστικη δεκαετια της Κερκυρας του 70!!

Yep I wouldn't go back now from what I have seen! Remember the Kontokali campsite and Youth hostel nearby? The hippie hostel in Agios Ioannis?
