Nice video! These are all things I feel like my brain picked up subconsciously but never put into words and your video did that for me perfectly.

I never saw Christopher Nolan movies this way. But this is so true. That opening scene from Inception is glued to my brain.
The loud sound of the waves crashing and the tight close up of Leo's character.
Thank you for another excellent video. Really helping me to notice better ways to tell stories better. Once again, I follow a lot of RUclips channel and I've not seen anyone talk about this. You're really unique sir.
Try adding music to the background of your videos. I think that's something the RUclips community thrives on

Thank you for those kind words and I'm glad these videos are helpful. The addition of music is indeed a good note and I will add that going forward. I appreciate the tip.

I believe this "tight to wide" scene introduction is a technique copped from literature. Novelists know that to set the stage for every scene is the death of their novel. They'll routinely start small on objects, or a character's thoughts, and expand from there. A bad writer will set the stage, not realizing that by the time his little scene has started, his reader has already escaped and begun reading Pride and Prejudice instead.
I do remember Spielberg talking about learning this lesson from Kubrick.

Scene transitions based on audio cues is pure David Lean.
      You love to hear it.
