Absolutely love that bass sound. Probably the best country and western song ever too!!!
Thats the late great luther perkins playing electric guitar
@@jamesobrien9962 rip Luther Perkins my guitar hero
I am glad there are people around who care about and know who Luther Perkins was ! Tomorrow Blue Suede News publisher, Marc Bristol is sending me his new Luther Perkins Shirt !
You did a good job man. Luther would be proud.
I agree bud
I just listened to your cover of Get Rhythm and was impressed. Then I listened to this, and was like WOW! I love hearing the different styles of the Sun Era recordings. This one has more of a bass sound to it. I will be adding two more of your covers to my favorites playlist!! :) Kurt
Great sound and playing.WOW ! J.R.
I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you’re mine, I walk the line
I find it very, very easy to be true
I find myself alone when each day's through
Yes, I'll admit that I'm a fool for you
Because you're mine, I walk the line
As sure as night is dark and day is light
I keep you on my mind both day and night
And happiness I've known proves that it's right
Because you're mine, I walk the line
You've got a way to keep me on your side
You give me cause for love that I can't hide
For you I know I'd even try to turn the tide
Because you're mine, I walk the line
I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you're mine, I walk the line
Because you're mine, I walk the line
Because you're mine, I walk the line
Beautifully done!
i love the way you play i walk the line
Still love it!
This is great! It sounds like the live version from 1958 to me. I sounds to me like Lurther may have used a baritone guitar to play this in the studio. Thank you!
Esquire man
Luther Perkins used a esquire with flatwound strings with a wound g that's what you hear and that's also what strings I use and prefer over rounds
Wow great, sounds very similiar the video on YT that's called "I walk the line - Young Johnny"
very good song
This sound like how Bob Wootton played it and I like it.
Hypnotic
I need a Luther Perkins in my band
Wow bro you're AMAZING!!yoo can you please play Home of the blues? By johnny cash if you can't it's alright.
❤❤❤
do you have to have a vintage amp to get that sound, if not what kind of settings such as bass treble gain delay reverb so on and so forth do you set on it. I'm also glad to find another person who respects johnny cash and his band so much.
That's a great question. I have a reissue 65 twin reverb. I do not remember amp settings specifically but I can tell you I have the bass up high and the treble high. I didn't have a lot of spring reverb, however I added A LOT of reverb with my editor
CountryCovers so the amp you have is pretty expensive?
I have a fender mustang 2.0 If I set the settings right can i make it sound like that?
You could probably get it close, a lot of the sound I create though comes from my editor. Keep that in mind
Yes, however i bought mine used for around $500 less than the original sticker price
Your wersion is super.
When you play these tunes would you mind listing the chord progressions for us learners? Thanks Tom
There's plenty of video's on youtube showing it, you can also watch and copy yourself. It's basically 2 - 4, and when walking down, just in reverse, so 4 - 2. Sometimes Luther played 3-2 when walking down from the D to an A.
Wish I could hear him do Folsom prison blues also

@@patriot4786 I would like to hear the 1968 version by Luther perkins
where did you get that guitar i can't find an esquire anywhere
Elvis this was a custom esquire I had built
Total was around $1100 I do believe. I have a build video for this one. Rather an overview video
Buy a Telecaster and wire it like an Esquire. I think you can get a whole loaded control plate that you just have to solder to your pickup and output (and lose the neck pickup).
dude where do you get all your esquires?
I’m 17, been playing guitar for a year, what kind of guitar is this, I usually play on my telecaster, and got to look like Waylon Jennings kinda like yours.
Fender esquire and flatwounds with a wound g
I'm trying to do the same thing for BandLab but I can't get my timing right! Any suggestions?
Bryan Casarrubias I struggle a lot with timing. When I edit, I split each note of say the bass, drum, all those and move them to when they're in time with the electric guitar. To answer your question, try tapping your foot along with a metronome. I find it helps tremendously!
At what time stamp should the singing come in?
Have you done big river?
Mathieu Schuler not yet but possible soon
CountryCovers that would be so awesome! You are so good at guitar too
Mathieu Schuler thank you:)
Wish this could be louder
You got that johnny c
ash sound down pat!
You "anchor" your pinky when you play, is that on purpose?
Matt Wright yes it is. I lock my pinky if I'm gonna be strumming or soloing. That way I play more accurately
I have been playing so long now not sure I can pick up the technique at this point.
Matt Wright oh sure you can!
Well, I will try, and your videos are fantastic, great tutorials on a wonderful style of playing.

Actually, that's wrong... you're hitting the wrong notes in this demo.. Luther is playing lower notes, you're hitting the high notes.. You start off ok, then you wander off the track a bit, and start playing some wrong notes.. Just listen to it, you'll see what I mean... I have been emulating and playing Johnny Cash since I was 5 years old when my dad was playing some Johnny Cash 78's he bought at a flea market after he fished an 1800's Edison Gramaphone out of the garbage and totally rebuilt it. I have also been told that nobody sounds as close to Johnny Cash than I, and it's probably due to two things, I have exactly the same range as Johnny, but also a bit higher, I am a Bass-Baritone with an octave in soprano, and like I said... I have been emulating Johnny and Luther since I was 5.. Timestamp - 32 you hit a high note when you were supposed to go low. Timestamp -36 you hit the wrong note. Timestamp -45 you hit another wrong note. I'm sure I don't need to keep going...
This demo is based off the live versions that Luther played
