I made these tonight. Soaked the potatoes in water for a couple hours in refrigerator. Tossed in olive oil and some seasoning. They were so crisp on the outside but soft in the middle. Perfect French fries!

So my wife had a craving for french fries and wanted to order them from our favorite sub shop! Figured I would try to make them myself and Salted Pepper to the rescue!!! She loved them!!!!!! You Rock Louise!!!!
This looks so easy!!! This is certainly a recipe that needs no written instructions! Next time I make sloppy joe's I'll make these, as well!!! Your cutting tips are very helpful. I had no idea that it would only require one russet potato to make so many!
Got a Ninja Foodi today. Always been a fan of Ninja since their Blenders and Juicers. Was my mothers favorite brand. When I saw all these great videos on Ninja Foodi, I knew I had to get one. Made some chicken today, it was amazing. 20mins. I got a newer version that automatically preheats for 5 mins before cooking which is great cause most videos say to preheat for 5 mins now it just it automatically
This was the first recipe I tried with my Ninja Foodi. It was amazing. But...Being one who likes to push the boundaries of reality, I did an experiment. Instead of soaking them in water, I soaked them in pickle juice. Seasoned with salt, dill and a bit of cayenne. They were incredible!!!
Excellent fries, best I've ever ate. Thanks, no other French fries for me, best no other fries are even close to them. I'm making making them from now on. Thanks again appreciate

Hello again!....i have tried fries every way under the sun. i learned a method by alton brown using russets by baking them first, and after cooling put them in the fridge over night. then using a sharp knife cut into steak fries, or smaller. then after that coat with olive oil, or better yet chicken fat. ....air fry, or deep fry. they are REALLY GOOD! i like this method the best, but better yet i instantly have a baked potato, and the left over ones cooked, cooled, and put in the fridge i can make fries for another day. I am in no way trying to give you advice, because YOU ROCK!.. anyway alton is a bit off the wall......lol....but the episode was on a steak, and fries method remake. Thanks again, and you got another subscriber for sure!
Thank you for your videos! They really helped get me over my fear of using my Ninja Foodie ~ especially the first one with the pressure cooker practice using water. Now, I'm on to shoestring potatoes!

Wow, I learned something today. I worked at a restaurant as a kid and they always had their potato wedges in a big bucket of water, because they cut them there. I always wondered why! Now I know! Awesome sauce 👌

Love your videos, especially your particular funny, very nice (but super clear at the same time) way to explain every step preparing your delicious suggestions. Thank you !! Very useful for me !!
Yes agreed people always say to soak fried but they never explain why. That is so important and why I liked this video. Explaining why things are done is what will separate you from the other videos and put you out way ahead with the subscription numbers. Keep it up your doing an awesome job! 👍
I just bought one of these ninja cookers, And I tried your hamburgers and your french fries and both came out great! Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, you saved me a lot of investigatory work :-)
After I soak my potatoes. I run them thru my salad spinner. I add them to my basket for the 5 minute preheat. I then take them out and toss them in my oil and salt. I sometimes add a bit of tumeric or cumin because that's what I like. I then add them back to my foodi and air crisp for 20 minutes. I really benefited from your cutting demo. Thank you for that. Aren't fries in the foodi awesome? I'm still trying to figure out onion rings.
I had a salad spinner years ago, but never really used it. I can see that being a big advantage though. I love the fries in the Foodi! I was semi successful with a blooming onion. I'll have to work on onion rings and perfect the blooming onion for sure.
I just bought mine yesterday and made wings for dinner and after dinner, cooked some hard boiled eggs. Wings were perfect and the eggs were the best hard boiled eggs I’ve ever made and no grey ring around the yolk. Perfection and no work at all making them. Can the fries be cooked in the bottom of the main pan and not on a tray, kind of like a veggie or meat or something? Would they still get crispy I wonder? Just thinking they may not take so long to make them. Fries look good, thank you. I can’t wait to try these tomorrow. I’m so glad I found all your videos. That is how I decided to keep my Foodie. I wasn’t 100% sure on it until I found your recipes. Thank you.
Another great video, thank you. I made these for the first time, today. I think it's largely because I soaked the uncooked fries, as you recommended (which I'd never done before [i.e. not even pre-Foodi]) and also largely because your directions and demonstration are so clear and so good, the fries turned out to be the best I've ever made. Really crisp, really brown, just the way I like them. Having said that, as I make them repeatedly, they may well improve. Honestly, If I can do this *anybody* can.
I'd like to know - if we use regular store-bought french fries, is it good to soak them in water first like you did with your freshly made ones? I've never knew about the soaking part before, so I want to know if this will improve even the store-bought frozen french fries.
Ordered my Ninja Foodi and will receive it tomorrow. Have been binging your videos this afternoon. I am gluten free and most of the recipes can work for gluten free. Marjorie (Peggy)
I'd love to know how you adapt the recipes for gluten free so I can add those instructions to my written recipes. If you have the time, shoot me an email! louise@thesaltedpepper.com
The Salted Pepper I am going try to make the spaghetti. I use gluten free spaghetti - Ronzoni is a good brand to use. It tastes just like regular wheat based spaghetti. When you add flour for thickening gravies and such, I substitute with cornstarch. I do have a gluten free all purpose flour by King Arthur. This works well when having to dredge foods for air frying. I haven’t done this with the Ninja Crisper yet, but I like to do chicken strips in the air fryer. Will let you know how it works with the Ninja. Marjorie
Thank you for your content. I don’t know why I was a little irritated by you continuously opening the lid, but patience is key. I’m trying to decide by watching the shortest videos possible.
When you are making fresh cut fries, it's important to toss them around more often than if they are the frozen kind. Not only does this help with the crunch factor, but it helps them from not sticking.
the best thing tool I found for the foodi is a fry daddy spatula. I don't use my fry daddy any more but the utensil gets used all the time, I wish foodi would come out with their version.
Thanks for your video I haven’t had my ninja foodi long and I was having problems getting crispy but never soaked them first. Definitely can’t wait to try again! Now to watch your HAm burgers later!
I just fry them directly in to a skillet with oil & the key is to fry them half way & let them cool down for 30 minutes then fry them again until golden brown.

I hope you love the Foodi! I do have some vegetarian recipes on my website (and videos on YT), but I'm always hesitant to label them vegetarian in case I'm using an ingredient that has some hidden ingredient that isn't vegetarian. The Lemon Pasta is really good: thesaltedpepper.com/lemon-garlic-pasta-with-vegetables/ I also give suggestions in some of my recipes for making it vegetarian. Here is the direct link to my website: thesaltedpepper.com
My family loves French fries, so air fry turned something we have once in a while has turned into a weekly thing. Love the taste. Thanks and yes when I make them I end up with 2 batches a meal. 3 people can stuff these fries down fast. I also have added one jalapeño pepper to cold water for a bit of bite.
So interesting! So, the jalapeno sliced flavors the potatoes as the soak? I tried once with vinegar to make vinegar fries and it's been so long I can't remember the outcome!
Making chips tonight in my new smart lid Ninja. I'm a virgin instant pot cooker. In the recipe book that came with it, there is a rosemary wedges recipe - Ninja suggests using the Steam air fry setting. what's your opinion on steam air fry vs air fry? I also noticed in this video you air fried without any liquid? is this because the tsp of oil on the chips is enough?
The smart lid model is different than the one I'm using. I soaked my fries in water and then air fried with a bit of oil, no steaming. With the smart lid, you can do fries like this the same way just using the air fry setting. The wedges, because they are thicker, do better when they are par cooked and that is what the steam is for. So, for that recipe, you have to use a little liquid to create the steam which partially cooks the potatoes and then switches over to air fry to crisp them up. Personally, I would still spritz them with oil during the air fry process. I haven't done steam/fry with fries yet, so I don't have an opinion on them.
sweet potato fries are very different and honestly I have not gotten them cooked correctly yet using an air fryer. When I do, I will do a recipe and video!
I just got my foodi today!!!! Binging all of your videos!!! 😍

You should have more subscribers! Your videos are freakin awesome! Debating on weather to get one of these. Your videos are awesome!!!
