Awesome review of TtD Rahdo.. My favourite Knizia game is Taj Mahal but unfortunately it plays 3-5 only, like a lot of games in that era. I wonder if they'll reprint it with a 2 player variant like they did with Medina?
Might be my screen or not knowing the rules that well, but I'm having trouble distinguishing which camels belong to which player. With Go's black and white pieces this is not an issue. This game does have a classic feel to it, though. Maybe that's because it in some ways is a classic (only in new clothes), but maybe it's because area control is such an old (though proven) game mechanic. One I like to have in boardgames, but not as the most impactful element. This probably is not for me nor for the people I usually play with, but maybe I should watch the rest of the video to decide that. Thanks for running through, rahdo!
it's my camera i think (kind of washed out and oversaturated). for comparison here's a picture that captures what it really looks like: www.boardgamegeek.com/image/13630/through-desert
Yeah, there definitely is a difference. Thanks for posting the link to BGG. BTW, among other things this level of helpful interaction with your audience you offer makes your channel precious to me and game publishers and players ought to praise you for what you've done and hopefully keep doing for this fascinating part of our world. I sure do.
It’s a very small point, but honestly even with the picture Rahdo’s given us of the board pieces...I still don’t like the pastel colors...they don’t seem to fit with the theme or color scheme of the desert. With pastel colors,it’s like Easter time in the middle of the desert....bright red, blue, or purple would’ve been better choices.Thats just my opinion though.Maybe they’ll change the colors again in the next 20 years...😜
Don't have rules with me, but as I remember, you just need to surround areas with no borders. So map border is, effectively, caravan of camels regarding area capture. So no need to have camels along the border. Right?
Paulo Renato yeah. But in order to enclose section you don't need them. At one point Rahdo is thinking either it is worth it to try to enclose section, and counts camels, with those unneeded ones. Love Rahdo, oooh how much money I have spent because of him... Thanks
It is not make very clear whether it is the entire border of the game board or just those with mountains that allow you to create a surround with camels without creating a complete circle. This video seems to suggest that only the mountainous areas area the edge of the board can be used for sectioning off, where the rule book just says the “edge of the board.” Any clarification?
I would go with the rulebook... but if you want to be sure it's better to ask that question in the BGG forum for this game in the rules section, someone with a lot more experience in the game will certainly let you know for sure
Thank you sir! Waiting for the delivery of this game. Your vid pushed me over on buying it. Made it look super fun and replayable. I thank you, my wallet...not so much.
nope, there's just a bunch of games i filmed before leaving malta so that i would have videos to make live while i'm on the road for the next few months...
Rahdo runs through the desert!
Paul Martin Cordero that wasn’t funny....until I visualized it.
Watching due to new version on KS. Wow, what a classic game! The new modules should be interesting to spice things up, too!

I still own the FFG version.
I like it a lot.
The river running across the board is an interesting idea.
Setup goof, the pool of water that didn't get a palm tree should have a waterhole token on it.

you don't need to have but you can place them there if you want

15:35 Never merge creams!
Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
This guy 'busts
Maybe I missed it, can the two camels I play be in two different caravans?
yes, you can split them up :)

Brain killer aka AP. Nice board.
Yet another new edition where the colors are spent, dark, and soulless..
is Rahdo back to Malta? anyway, great runthrough, mister!!! congrats!

oh, I see. well, good luck on your new path, Rahdo!
Similar to kingdom builder...
A little bit... they play very differently and feel very different, though, IMHO. I wouldn't hesitate to own both.
Please speak slowly.
Thanks.
You're not a AK 47
you can always play the video at .75x speed :)
@@rahdo 😁
I always listen at 1.5x, but I'm a native English speaker. I think that people in podcasts sound drunk if listened to at normal speed.
@@rahdo 1.25x speed is more fun. :-)
