24:48 I gotta disagree with this part... Spoilers The point of the "whale" subplot was that it had been outcast for the death of the children in the previous battle (implied the first film) when it was actually trying o save them. Due to their reveal intelligence, it was trying to redeem itself by saving Jake's son. It understood Jake's son because the water tribe didn't fully accept Jake's family, due to Jake's DNA making his kids have human traits that Navi don't have like 4 fingers. The whole subplot echoed Jake and his family feeling like outcast and his son not feeling like he could live up to Jake. During the finale the whale was redeemed by saving them at the standoff with Jake's kids. The son's connection with the "whale" and that moment also made him understand "The Way of the Water" the water tribe's daughter was teaching him earlier in the film, which he used in the finale to save his father...
The movie did show us what actually happened, but I don't think I understand why the water Navi initially thought that the only survivor of a technological attack was responsible.
@jameson stalanthas yu It's because him and his brothers and sisters went into battle against the humans and showed aggression/killed. So, to the whales, it went against their complete passive nature. The mom with the calf didn't even fight to save her baby. That's how non-violent they were. So engaging in attacks makes them just as guilty as a murderer. You can see he was willing to fight and kill, even for a good reason, that's why he was blamed and outcasted, because he partook in it. When the son tried to explain the story, the girl said "to them, it is the same"
There is something comforting knowing that no matter how many years it’s been in double toasted history… that light will always be in front of that pole 🥹 it’s beautiful
Jake didn't flip out on the other kids because he believed his son when he said it was his idea, and the other kids tried to stop him. Jake can't get mad at an attempted murder if he doesn't think it was attempted murder. WE know it was attempted murder. And I'm fairly certain the Whale was speaking the son's language. They made it a point to mention their intelligence and grasp at speaking multiple languages.

Avatar is such a weird series. It was the highest grossing movie of all-time, but I've never actually heard anyone bring it up or talk it in the same way as a classic movie (The Godfather, It's a Wonderful Life, Titanic). You'd think it'd be more culturally popular/relevant.
I don't mind the villians being one note especially when Greed is a Factor since it's one of the Seven Deadly sins of Man, along with Wrath which is what Lang's character is about. The way the Humans are in this movie I'm shocked they aren't secretly Kidnapping Navi since where's all this Navi DNA coming from? Also anyone else believe Grace's Avatar is Alive because Grace is alive? She's just being held captive by Ewa for something she did in the past?
I dont mind one note villians either as long as they are believable and we'll acted. But Quaritch in this movie is developing and honestly along with the whale save the story. Other wise it would have been just a reharsh of the first. Even if that had been the case I'd take an avatar rehash over any marvel rehash as we have had too many of those, but cameron story telling improved and the new subplots are engaging.sad very few reviewers are talking about them.

Yes. It was also reminiscent of the great buffalo massacre of the 1800s. Massacred for their pelts just like the whales massacred for their brain fluid.
SPOILER The biggest issue I had with the plot was the whole motivation for leaving the forest tribe in the first place. What was the PLOT reason for the military pursuing Jake? I get that the colonel had a personal gripe with him, but the military just wants the land right? They have no reason to target Jake other than the fact that he’s the forest tribe’s leader. So him leaving should make their job EASIER , right? Leaving to hide from the colonel really only makes sense if he was acting alone, but he wasn’t.
Jake wasn't acting alone but he was the main danger to the RDA, because it was his knowledge of human military and navi combat that made him lethal and effective at taking down their militia and mining facilities. Jake leaves when he realises that they're targeting him and by association his family in retaliation to his attacks, and were able to get in on their home turf without issues from the Pandoran wildlife as was established early on, because the soldiers are navi avatars now. Jake realised that they're home, which was initially protected from the RDA threat by the Pandoran wildlife, is now no longer safe for him and his family, and since they want him specifically, not the clan, he leaves the clan knowing that his presence will get them all killed if the RDA find out that they're harbouring him, which once they have spider he figures will only be a matter of time. Presumably once Jake decides to uproot and leave, all insurgency operations and raids stop, as the RDA realise that he's gone quiet, likely due to them not recording any attacks in a while. Jake definitely takes on a more cut and run, passive demeanor after fleeing to the reef clan, he even discourages the reef navi from avenging the murdered whales initially, so as to stop them from invoking the rath of the humans, so it would make sense that he would leave their home clan and stop the attacks there too, keeping the clan safe as they'd be out of the RDA's radar, and of course him and his family would be safe as they've moved away and gone out of sight; or so they assume, they of course slip up when calling in the help of the scientists when Kiri gets a seizure. As for why the RDA continue their pursuit of Jake, even after he goes quiet, they never really explain that. It definitely seems like Quaritch is the one who understandably headlines the search out of his thirst for vengeance at that point going forward, the RDA general doesn't seem too invested, she even seems discouraged based on the 100s of islands that they'd need to search to find him. The whalers are also more concerned about their hunting quota than chasing around Jake, so it makes it clear that the RDA is carrying on with their operations on Pandora regardless of Jake's capture. In the end it just boils down to a grudge match between Quaritch and Jake, the rest of the RDA and the navi become pawns in Quaritch's plan to take him out, he doesn't seem too invested in the RDA's main objectives in the long term; even if they explicitly told him to stop, I don't think that would discourage him. On the other hand, if the RDA is still invested in finding Jake, it's probably just a way of demoralising and destabilising the navi, as well as getting justice for everything that he's done to them up till now; not too dissimilar to the USA spending many years, money and lives going after Osama Bin Laden after 911. They'd obviously probably still need to fight the navi going forward even if they did get to Jake, but they'd perhaps have an easier time of it without his unique knowledge of the human military amongst the navi.
I knew they would raise ticket prices for this movie. I checked and to see it in 3D in RPX it costs $19.50. The last 3D movie in RPX cost $17. They raised the price $2.50 knowing it would be popular enough to scam people.

It’s like Pixar, the tech is the pencil & paper, but the humans are the artists using them.

Quaritch is actually significantly evolved here. Before, he was the asshole human who only cared about the destruction of the planet because he was following orders and had a strong "us or them" mentality. Here, he's now an alien who died as a human; has a human son that despite not being the man that raised that son still has that bond; is in it for revenge against the man who got him killed and wrecked things so badly and is learning how to at least use the same resources on Pandora for success now rather than the ones he had in his previous life. This felt like a different man while also being the same man-both in good ways.
It’s absolutely baffling to me why the bad guys didn’t have Spider tied up or in a cell at all. Even after he destroys their controls they still don’t subdue him. That took me out of the movie

Quaritch too. Your comment proves wrong all those marvel boysvwho said this was a rehash of the first one. There are like 15 minutes atist of rehashed scenes when the whale, kiri, spider, loak, and the sea people stories take so much. So there's no even time to rehash.
I don't understand your guys' complaints about the runtime. If the pacing is good and you "don't feel the runtime" then what's the problem with the movie being 3 hours long? I could understand if the movie had poor pacing, but since it doesn't, it kinda feels like a weak criticism of the film.
The extra hour could've been used for sleep, or family time, or a game with friends, or to watch another movie. And that's leaving out all the potential bowel movements...

The point of the "whale" subplot was that it had been outcast for the death of the children in the previous battle (implied the first film) when it was actually trying o save them.
Big facts. The movie literally tells you what they thought happened and shows you what actually happened. Maybe they missed that part.
The movie did show us what actually happened, but I don't think I understand why the water Navi initially thought that the only survivor of a technological attack was responsible.

SPOILER
The biggest issue I had with the plot was the whole motivation for leaving the forest tribe in the first place.
Jake was such a great father, because Sam Worthington became a father since the first movie

@@les4767 it’s a DT rating system, to designate a film as a 5/5. Your joke’s been said literally dozens of times since this channel started using it, so either you’re new around here or think a tired joke’s gonna land somehow lol
@@christopherlowery3797 What joke? I was being serious....
@@christopherlowery3797 To be fair, however, you were right about this being the first video of this channel I've watched, so I had no idea this observation was a tired cliche of a joke. Sorry.
The villains in a nutshell:
Pet Semetary Cat Stephen Lang: Me and Spiderboi gonna do some bonding by going on the water to catch Jake Sully. Then we're gonna hunt some whales, then burn down the rainforest. Coming?
Sexy Evil General Lady: Nah a date on a boat in a James Cameron movie sounds bad. But for Avatar 3 let's get Starbucks and make the baristas cry. You're the only man who can drink a cup o' Joe in as asshole a manner as me.

Trust me Corey, 3D, even outside of this movie, is WAY better than the early 2010s.
Honestly I feel the inverse about the frame rate. The moments where the frame rate dropped during the action schemes with heavy Fire and Water vfxs, I thought I was watching the movie on something that couldn’t handle it. Because the animation was so high definition I loved it more when it looked like an immersive video game because the drama on screen was so basic it made me look to the peripherals
How many times did the villains kidnap some children? Once in the forest, twice in the ocean.
What???
LOTR and Avengers should be 4+ hrs. I'd even say the extended cut of LOTR is the best and only way to watch the movies

Critic's are going to praise this movie, but really remixing Pocahontas not very exciting.
Making unoriginal reddit comments isn't exciting either
This was the review I was waiting for. The "Jeremy Jahns" of the world were ready to splash praise on it.
Knowing Korey, who was more cynical about the first film (like myself), did enjoy it, makes me a lot more excited.
jeremy jahns is fair what are you on about lmao
Jeremy has been careful on what movies he is giving Awesometacular
@Z M not really... he has it out for certain ppl and certain places where his bias shows brightly. I dont see him as fair at all. Something feels off about him the last few years, just my 2 cents 🤷🏾♂️
@Prince D Marvel Sure... but when he says something is awesometacular, Im like "you would give it to this". Feels like he gives some opinions out of spite too. Feels very much like a "jaded fanboy".
@@Army1601 oh there are sometimes I don't agree with him but again it's his opinion we are watching
Would loveee to see this movie again but that 3 hour runtime...😫That is the only thing that may hurt the rewatchability/ extra box office takes of this movie.
Endgame is 3 hours and made 3 billion,
@@Eserr7856 aint getting my money twice.
I heard the movie took so long to come out because they actually travelled to Pandora to film lol
