I’m a bit of a Giant fanboy given my last 4 bikes have all been Giant so it’s no surprise that I’d pick a TCR. I think Giant consistently produce good bikes for sensible money which is why I’ve kept buying them. That said, if anyone has a Canondale going free I wouldn’t refuse it!
My heart went for the Evo in 2020 and I have ZERO regrets. No issues with anything on the bike and I have racked up more than 5k miles on it since last July.
I recommend the videos from "Luescher Teknik" about the design failure of the SuperSix. Long story short, they have built a headset movement limiter within the fork crown that hits the frame itself when that limit is reached. Not sure if C'dale has acknowledged the failure yet, and if they are going to do anything to solve it.
My heart is also with the Evo, I have a custom build caad13, but the value of the TCR is undeniable, power meter, weight and rims. I love them both and would be very happy either way 🥰👍🏽👍🏽
It doesn't look as clean. It kind of looks to me that they did it so they only have to have one opening made which can be the Di2 junction box location or the entry for mechanical cables.
@@j1mbobable to be honest the problem is only on the bikeradar's bike, a local shop of mine puts mechanical gear cables inside the frame, mine has external cables but way way closer to the frame than on this video, making it look much cleaner
I actually picked up both, the 2021 TCR advanced pro O and a 2022 Supersix Evo in the last week. Returning the TCR. Supersix has a little less aggressive stack, better finish, and more comfy ride. At this price point, I think that most are significantly less price sensitive than new buyers. Also in the USA, most of the riders I rode with had no idea that Giant made anything more than entry level bikes…🤔. I had to convince them it was a serious bike.
Interesting with the last part of your statement. I live very very close to a Trek regional hub. People around here are familiar with the big 3: Giant Trek and Specialized. Quite some of them that I have met actually have told me preferring TCR pro 1 over Emonda sl 6. Well I'm like you, planning to get a SSE as my next roadie. Enjoy yours!
I bought the 2022 Cannondale CAAD13 105 Hydro Disk for $2200 USA. It has the same frame profile as the $4500 Supersix EVO, but C1 Smartform alloy frame, and DT Swiss aluminum wheels. Cost 1/2 as much and maybe 95% as good as the EVO. This bike is still far above my skill level and a Best Buy.
I own a systemsix Hi-mod and I find it very comfortable, more than my old 2013 synapse. I tested a Giant Defy few days ago, with big tubeless tires (30 or 32), and I felt the road like crazy. I ride my systemsix with tubetype GP5000 at 6,5-7 bars and the road cracks are damped through the whole bike. With the Defy, an endurance bike, I felt everything in the handlebar. It seems that Cannondale damps with the whole frame, but Giant do it with the seat post and mostly from the rear. It was a strange feeling, I did not like it. I would like to test the TCR but my guess is the supersix is more comfortable. The sad truth about bikes : it's easier to test a Porsche or a Mercedes than a carbon road bike. Got the 2020 Supersix and love it!! Took your recommendation and it definitely is a fun bike! Goes downhill like a mad man!!! Great review and keep it going!
Owned a 2017 TCR Advanced Pro 0 and just bought a new Supersix Evo Ultegra. Supersix is way more comfortable on long rides and handles great. Supersix wins for me. Hookless rims are a no go for me.
I love my 2014 Giant TCR, it's light, it's nimble and it's red, black and white paint scheme is the best. But I am getting on in years and am switching to a comfort bike, the TCR Defy Advanced with its smaller 34/50 crankset and its 11/34 cassette, both of which combine to facilitate climbing those more difficult hills.
I was on the same ‘intersection’ & went for Adv Pro 0. The Cadex Race tires do feel different than the Gavia. A lot different even though they’re both 25. I followed my heart ❤️
Overall (probably) what you get for the money, TCR is the best bike on the market, period. I have TCR 2015 and don't thing about a change in the near future. The geometry of the frame, carbon quality, aerodynamic, handling are superb! I have ridden many top bikes while being on holiday (rental)...still TCR is my choice...great all-around bike, fast on flat and in the mountains. I have no knowledge about Cannondale, but I like TCR geometry more...and those extra 500g of Evo.....it is a lot of grams.
TCR can in theory be purchased brand new in rim brake version : lighter (fork and wheels), less expensive, and you can get loads of cheap second hand top notch race wheels to destroy during your crits.
Just replaced my 2018 TCR Advanced 2 with the 2023 TCR Advanced Disc 1+. Both bikes offer great value. The upgrade to Shimano 105 Di2 12 speed, hydro disc brakes and wide carbon hookless/tubless wheels is greatly appreciated. Giant TCR continues to be the performance value leader.
Both bikes are fantastic but different from each other. I rode both bikes last year. The tcr is equipped with a 52/36 crank and much more a racing bike for the peloton. Stiff with high aero wheels. the sse offers more comfort with 50/34 crank and much more pleasant to climb with. I like them both

A Caad12 105 (rim brake version) in 58cm was 8,3kg without pedals. But it comes with heavy wheels, heavy tyres and the 105 group set is heavy as well. I swapped these parts I've mentioned and my Caad12 is now sitting on 7,3kg, but will be sub 7kg later this year after some more upgrades.

I'm leaning towards the Giant but I am 2m tall with a 100 cm inseam and I think it'll run a bit small. Any road race bike to recommend? My bike fitter couldn't think of anything and I'm getting tired of riding a track bike which is also too small (60cm Dolan PreCursa)
I had a TCR 2021 disc, and for the time that I had it it has not disappointed in the least. It’s fast, comfortable, and easily wins me my break aways. That said, the only problem with the TCR is that it’s too damn common. Literally you can blindly throw a stone and will probably hit someone on a giant on the course. So I sold it, and am now deciding between either the dogma F or the sl7. Great bike. But not a bike that makes me happy owning one if that makes sense. So between the two, it’s certainly the supersix for me.
Basically the conclusion is that there is no real winner. For price/quality Giant wins, but purely on performance Cannondale wins. Where Cannondale wins as well in my opinion is that during the last 3 decades they have been the #1 pioneer in bicycle innovations. It's not just that they win all independent tests for example for frame stiffness and aerodynamics, but the money you spend goes in R&D to make bikes even better, compared to Giant where your money doesn't go to bringing bikes to the next level, but rather in optimizing the cost structure. In my opinion it's not strange that with all the money Cannondale spends on R&D, you pay a slightly higher price tag.
I’ve got the giant tcr advanced 2017 and love it ,like to update to giant tcr dyf I’ve got the mavic flat bladded spokes which weigh 1440 grams for the pair.
@@keithbailey4044 yes looking at the reviews and availability it seems the aethos comp would be a good base to upgrade from - in normal times would have bought a frame and built one up but almost impossible to find parts
A question to all...looking for one bike to rule them all so which one of these would fit the bill? I do a bit more climbing than flats mind you. Cheers!
I'd take the TCR Advanced. The SuperSix EVO has a steel bump stop at the fork's crown, which if it hits the frame hard from a sudden steering input in, say, a crash, it can cause cracks at the bottom of the head tube (refer to Luescher Tecnik's video about this, but the one he had on hand is bladed, one of the ones I personally see is round).
I have put several 100 miles on both of these bikes in recent months and I must say there is one huge difference. The way they take power. If you can lay down some watts the TCR is going to feel like an angry snake beneath when you apply some power to the pedals. The bottom bracket and frame twist and shout, impersonating wet linguine at an Italian karaoke night. I was very disappointed in how the TCR felt under acceleration. The Supersix felt like every other Supersix I've ridden, snappy and taking that power and turning it into speed.
I had two giant tcrs, one the top-of-the-line SL and another entry-level, both 2018 the entry-level tcr was a really horrible sausage and I also had the supersix 2020 rim brake that I thought was very good but I had to sell it and today I have this new 2021 tcr disk brakes that I found excellent I don't feel twisting even applying 900 watts to it I thought it greatly improved the rigidity of the frame
P so I went back and forth between TCR and the Super 6 Evo and I Hammond an odd I took too long to make my choice I was like do I need to you know go for the lighter weights or should I really dive into cannondale's pitch and I ended up finding a very gently used one for just over a thousand bucks with the the d style seatpost all the components you're talking about and I switched out the tires to 28 mils on the continentals and I can tell you I am so happy that I went with the Cannondale The bike has been nothing but amazing just like you said Sprint's going up hills it just seems to want to go and go I have nothing bad to say about the TCR at all the value was great but like you I went with my heart and I'm glad that I did
Both have such ugly cable routing into the down tube, I like both bikes but wouldn't get either because of this. I was looking at getting the TCR with 105, remove the 105 and selling, then fit AXS Rival.
I've bought a SuperSix Evo, black frame with white trim and white cables routed into down tube and I think it looks unreal! Each to their own I suppose 😁
The SuperSix EVO's shift and brake lines can be fully internally routed with integrated cockpits, only the TCR Advanced isn't capable of that. But it's not such a bad thing as that calls for greater cockpit compatibility.
Power calibration on both sides is essential today i thought, if you're racing or training to win. I'm a Cannondale owner but Giant definitely wins out. Nice weight for a large and I still enjoy any mechanical shifting. I wonder if Giant will produce a Dura-ace option with carbon power cranks?
4K for an 8.1kg non-aero bike with mechanical shifting, dodgy crankset, from a manufacturer known to produce frames with sub-par quality control. The bike industry has truly lost the plot over these past years.

I love my pre-drop seat stay EVO, but I'll never buy a dropped seat stay anything ever. I don't care about any benefits (perceived or otherwise). I just can't do it. Having said that, the Giant is a better looker here for sure as is the Specialized Aethos. After getting rid of that "Crackn'fail" name and building wonderfully robust second generation bombproof framesets that the ultralighters love, Cannondale has decided to digress back to their old ways and to faulty designs with massive frame failures again. Go back to what's reliable (Specialized did).

Sorry, but I have a TCR 2019, it's a great machine, I'd go for the TCR any day. And I just can't stand a bike manufacturer that wants to peddle it's own crankset, it just makes it look worse than the TCR - and it doesn't have a Power Meter.
Good review but I won’t pick either one. The frame sets for both are just too skinny and the bikes look weak. I like the 2009 giant tcr zero. On top of that bike manufacturer that does offer rim brakes is a big no! I got myself a pinarello dogma f12 rim brake and I am please. Next bike will be a colnago! Rim brake of course. In the future I will have a titanium custom made and of course rim brake!
Evo without a doubt. Looks mod, rides like a charm with amazing wheelset (excl tyres). TCR is, well, just boring. Fit a PM (pedals) and decent tyres to Evo and its way ahead
The old Supersix was a real gem. This new generation is garbage. Research the headtube issues. It’s unreal they are putting this to market. The TCR is a proven frame that has kept its identity whereas cannondale sold its soul. Miss the old Evo and so glad I have one !

Xl canyon I think they even have an xxl but I'm sure that would be too big for you.
i have TCR Adv SL 2021 in my living room. Just by looking it feel fast!
How about neither???
I had a TCR 2021 disc, and for the time that I had it it has not disappointed in the least. It’s fast, comfortable, and easily wins me my break aways.
That said, the only problem with the TCR is that it’s too damn common. Literally you can blindly throw a stone and will probably hit someone on a giant on the course.
So I sold it, and am now deciding between either the dogma F or the sl7.
Great bike. But not a bike that makes me happy owning one if that makes sense. So between the two, it’s certainly the supersix for me.
Almost and impossible decision to make. But! The TCR it is.
Love my tcr.
I’ve got the giant tcr advanced 2017 and love it ,like to update to giant tcr dyf I’ve got the mavic flat bladded spokes which weigh 1440 grams for the pair.
great timing...trying to replace my broken bmc...one of these, bmc team machine, or aethos comp as alternate choice
i have the tcr however a friend as just purchased the Aethos a great bike and light cost £4500
The SuperSix EVO has a steel bump stop at the fork's crown, which if it hits the frame hard from a sudden steering input in, say, a crash, it can cause cracks at the bottom of the head tube (refer to Luescher Tecnik's video about this, but the one he had on hand is bladed, one of the ones I personally see is round).
giant tcr
TCR wins hands down. Value, powermeter included, better frameset.
Cracknfail SS Evo with the self destructing head tube is a easy pass.
Do you guys get paid for coming up with these corny names denigrating Cannondale or do you just do it as a sort of mental masturbation?
what is a drag of the rider and what is the grag of the bike i know size of rider will make a difference but is it 70% rider 30% bike ?
You're close, around 80% of the drag is generated by the rider.
P so I went back and forth between TCR and the Super 6 Evo and I Hammond an odd I took too long to make my choice I was like do I need to you know go for the lighter weights or should I really dive into cannondale's pitch and I ended up finding a very gently used one for just over a thousand bucks with the the d style seatpost all the components you're talking about and I switched out the tires to 28 mils on the continentals and I can tell you I am so happy that I went with the Cannondale The bike has been nothing but amazing just like you said Sprint's going up hills it just seems to want to go and go I have nothing bad to say about the TCR at all the value was great but like you I went with my heart and I'm glad that I did
Love my tcr but i have a caad 12 for winter and that is also a great bike
How does Tarmac SL7 compare?
Both have such ugly cable routing into the down tube, I like both bikes but wouldn't get either because of this. I was looking at getting the TCR with 105, remove the 105 and selling, then fit AXS Rival.
How about a frameset?
I've bought a SuperSix Evo, black frame with white trim and white cables routed into down tube and I think it looks unreal! Each to their own I suppose 😁
Two amazing bikes. SuperSix is sexy but TCR more convenient.
but both have semi-integrated cables... (still a lot of them around stem and head tube)
Isn't the Si crankset. It is the One cranks. They are heavier
4K for an 8.1kg non-aero bike with mechanical shifting, dodgy crankset, from a manufacturer known to produce frames with sub-par quality control. The bike industry has truly lost the plot over these past years.
What are you on about..

GIANT TCR # 1 🇵🇱🚲
Lol, my heart goes for the S-Works Venge or Ridley Helium SLX
TCR all day long!
They need to redesign the knot/save stem and handlebar system. Looks ugly IMO. Giant has always been known as having most value for money.
I have it on my Systemsix and it doesn't look as bad. But I agree it does look a bit out of place on the Supersix
EVO looks better but TCR is a proven winner still and the old EVO has got those great classic looks . l ve ridden my friends old school EVO and its very stiff and fast but not sure l d want to ride that all day ,torturous .Since l ve got short legs tall torso l d have to go with TCR but older one with RIM brakes so l can fix it myself , l live in the flats NO hills :)
Team Evo FTW! :D
Giant TCR for me
Given the evidence of dubious engineering decisions and poor QC at Cannondale i'd have the TCR even if the Evo was half the price.
When choosing between SS & TCR, this is also part of the consideration. I want a ‘toyota-solid’ quality but fun to ride. TCR it is for me
Specialized Tarmac - hold my beer!!
I’ve ridden the SSE 2021 Ultegra and it blows my Emonda away!
Which emonda model did u have and what year?
Sorry, but I have a TCR 2019, it's a great machine, I'd go for the TCR any day. And I just can't stand a bike manufacturer that wants to peddle it's own crankset, it just makes it look worse than the TCR - and it doesn't have a Power Meter.
TCR for the win!
In the future I will have a titanium custom made and of course rim brake!
yes, my heart is with the EVO
I've not had a supersix but i went from TCR to systemsix then back to TCR
Just curious. What didn't you like about the Systemic? Do you just prefer a lighter bike?
systemsix too aggressive bcus aero geometry?
It was a bit sluggish going up climbs compared to TCR. System weight wasnt far off TCR but I felt it when i was riding
@@pigupigu I guess that is why the TCR has the big fat downtube and bottombracket area
SS supposed to feel awful uncomfortable
Giant all day long
Real comparison starts @9:39 😉👌😁👍
Evo without a doubt. Looks mod, rides like a charm with amazing wheelset (excl tyres). TCR is, well, just boring. Fit a PM (pedals) and decent tyres to Evo and its way ahead
The old Supersix was a real gem. This new generation is garbage. Research the headtube issues. It’s unreal they are putting this to market. The TCR is a proven frame that has kept its identity whereas cannondale sold its soul. Miss the old Evo and so glad I have one !
@@johnhirka654 if Idiots over steer to lock , something you can't do while riding, then can't blame bike. New evo blows away old one. Had evo for a while with zero issues.
Madtriboy blows away … interesting … based on? Being heavier? Numb steering and feedback? The old evo was a race bike. Current is an endurance bike. Lose your pride of ownership syndrome Anyone who has raced bikes would say the same. I’ve ridden the new evo , and it’s dull. Simply lacks any character the original had.
Madtriboy totally disagree 30 inch tires and higher front stack is for endurance bike not a race bike. To each their own. Glad you like it. I have ridden it and it was numb.
TCR all the way always!
These bikes would have been 3k not 4k 2 years ago 😢
Those whom had picked Cannondale over Giant, their hearts are definitely bigger than their brains.
Or they just happen to like the Cannondale more. It takes a small brain to insult people for something like this. You having a bad day or something?
If the Evo had the power meter then you wouldn't even look at the tcr
