I understand. Our crew we all whistle at each other, and have a different sound for each other. keeps us from losing our voices yelling at each other. most of us are loosing our hearing.
The boys in the trench would need SCUBA gear if you tried that down here where I live. Water table is only 7 feet deep here. And out where my parents live I think its only 3-4 feet deep.
How much is average starting pay for a track hoe operator ? Looking to get into it thinking about joining the pipeline I heard they make pretty good. I already have experience on trackhoes and skid steers
Im glad my street wont look like that when my city does water main replacement this fall or next spring they are horizontal directional boring 8 inch water main but the city did mark out sewers im in canada
I have enjoyed your videos. Scale is hard to tell. How deep are you digging? Also, It would be interesting to see how much rock they are separating with tthe Skully(?) bucket. It doesn't look like you are encountering much that is 6" plus.
It is normal for us to leave 500 feet open at a time. On bigger jobs we run a three crew system trenching, pipe laying, and backfill crew. Each crew works at there speed, each trying to catch the other. we make a game of it.

Given that Preston Pipelines and Ernest E. Pestana were based in basically the same neighborhood, I'm wondering if Preston picked up any of Ernie's people when he finally closed up his underground business. Mr. Pestana passed away in 2009.
I dont know how you continued on with that trench with the drop off right behind you, I would have painted myself in a corner and been screwed. I was hoping that part was in the video lol great work brother.
That was before I started the channel. I only had 1 battery and a 32gb card. the ditch had a 45* turn and was only 5 feet deep at the bottom of the slope.
The fact that you said watch for a color change in the soil is important. We just dug 400' of soil to put 4 4" sch40 pipie for cable. What is not normal is seeing a black coal slag coal layer left from steam engines then sand above that then 3/4" stone on top of that. We did see some wood on top of we think concrete electrical duct (750 DC). We didn't dig to find out we were low enough. Thanks for your info. We put tape above most times when we direct bury cables. But now we use pvc for safety and pulling.
@@TheLeverMonkey for direct burial we do too. But the tape is conductive and unsafe when you have as third rail. We use plastic caution tape. We did that for a dig out east with a ditch witch.
If you throw the spoils out far enough you dont have to waste a lot of time sweeping the spoils out of the way,,, that is rough on the swing gear, throw the spoils out far enough if some rolls back flat swipe and move on
Great channel ! Really enjoy the narration, precision digging and professional workmanship. Getting to be my favorite Track hoe channel !
Thank you.
Jobsite humor, gotta love it.
All good, surprised that they even let you dig out in newsome land, haha.
It was for a new high school.
Love those V buckets. It's a great way to keep the pipe layers safe.
Good vid t watch but I couldn't work for you lol can't stand bin whistled at especially wen u probs know there name a only whistle mi dog lol 😆

Check out my Q&A #3 or #2 video I answered that question in some detail.
You are quickly becoming my favorite channel. keep it up

About 19-20 feet deep. This was the east side of the job the west had much larger rock.
I'm a labor working transmission pipeline....hand dug a lot of bell holes.....them slopes look to vertical...can still cave in an hurt someone
The camera makes it look worse than it is.
Impressive, capable operator. Great presentation!
Glad you liked it!
Is there a safety concern in leaving that much open trench? It seems more susceptible to cave in. Why not backfill closer to the work area?

Thanks for the visit
When you dig, do you prefer center line or track line?
Going to add this to the next Q&A
Is every thing down you guys deep as hell holy shit lol,bet that's a fun job tho ,

3.00 handling charge on the baritto
@17:40 with that rod waving around, could easily be off grade a few tenths.
They wave the rod to find the high point.
Lever Monkey Merch quote....Wheres my burrito!
In the roach coach where I left it.
Who's got my burrito?? what did they charge. LMAO! Like he don't make enough money, who cares.....
Just because I make good money doesn't mean I don't have bills to pay too. I only get $100 a weak for personal use and that includes burritos.
@@TheLeverMonkey You must be married
Good video bro...... JJ...
Thanks ✌
Didn't believe that OSH alow no Jack's in the ditch especially how deep your digging.
as long as its sloped right theyre safe and hes doing it right for the soil condition
We do have a engineer set the dig plan prior to the start of the job.
👍
Awesome job keep me coming and I'll keep watching them
ew

How do ya'll set up your pipe laser?
Will add that to the next Q&A video.
Love these videos man! You fix the quick cupler.. the bucket goes from left to right like crazy😅
I can only ask to get it fixed.

Had a support ho pulling the spoils away. he did not always get enough.
Legal
Yes, was a engineared dig.
Is your trenching bucket set up for 3 to 1 grade for the sidewalls
3/4-1
How many feet a day are you getting in condishions like that ?
in this situation I might get 300-400 feet in 8 hours.
Why no Benching or Shoring? Surely everyone wants to make it home safe.
thats why its sloped and its in rocky soil he said that in the video
Sloping is considered safer than benching in certain soil types
All our trenching is certified by a engineer and approved by the city we work in.
Have you ever did any digging for Floyd Johnston out of Clovis CA?
nope.
Changed your name. 💪💪💪👍👍
WOOHOO I got the first like lol
Citrus Heights Citrus Heights California
Nope
That V-bucket makes it nice , easier than trying to slope it with a normal bucket.
@LionelRichiesCrackpipe I would have to agree
Any time i have to do a open cut (no shoring) I ask for a V bucket.
