This store always fascinated me. It either didn’t remove showroom walls because of the actual building, or because they just didn’t want to remove them.
I never wanted the animatronics to be removed. I loved them when i was a kid and treated it like i was going to see a live concert before i cashed in my tickets. I missed the tokens too, the little shake in the cup sounds. I missed it all. Then the 2.0 killed the fun for me and anyone else who been to these places since the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. I know my Chuck E Cheese place got rid of them and put in the Studio C and left just one animatronic of course Chuck. But I liked both him and Helen. Idk, just makes me feel depressed.
My local La Mesa, CA actually still is blocked of like a showroom and still says showroom above the entrance. It was the 2nd to last phase 3 in the world. They sadly removed it but still have some phase 3 pieces. The only down side is that the animatronics are in horrible condition. I hope you can somehow visit it someday before removal in September for a new Chuck E Cheese opening in Santee, CA.
Yes! Aron fector or whoever runs cec entertainment, plz make some 80s stores or something because I would love to visit a balcony stage with one of the side stages with king or something. I really want to experience that. I'm 16 and I am really interested in these animatronics. Instead of watching tiktok and arguing with people on Twitter like a normal gen Z child, I watch these and go back in time and watch videos about the pizza time theater era of chuck e cheeses. And I got to say that era is the best era by far to me. My favorite animatronic is the king, close second is the banjo playing half bodied jasper. Dam I wish I could have been born in the 80s.
@@TheFunArchivist I know. Aron has showbiz pizza and the rock a fire explosion animatronics. I was saying him or cec should open back up one of their old restaurants again. Aron is in his warehouse working on his animatronics. while idk wtf cec doing. I do have one question tho, who is the CEO of cec entertainment now? Because from my knowledge Nolan is not, He's dead right? See you're right I don't know everything.
One of the best things about this store is it still has all of the wonderful incandescent lighting instead of puke fluorescents. I think this may be the only one in existence, that does not have the awful lighting.
Looks Just like how it was when i went in 2003, design wise is what i remember seeing at a location somewhere in Detroit, MI back in 97. the only difference here being is the vibe's not as poppin as it was when it had all the Sega, namco and Konami machines, you could however smell the pizza before you got through the Stamping process to get in (when i was a kid anyway) and this stage was really fun to watch!, great times!
Bullwinjles show room was dark and very immersive with the foutains. Too bad all the animatronics are gone already and you can’t visit anymore :(!!! The Santa Clara prototype from the 80’s is on RUclips tho!
This has to be one of my fave CEC videos you've done! Sad this store won't stay like this forever, it's beautiful! Also at 16:57 bro was breaking it d.o.w.n. amazing 10/10 highlight of the vid
I love what they did for the 2.0 remodel of this place we kept animatronics a bunch of the old decor but they also added in the screen in the dance booth screen being where the balcony stage used to be at that location
They have a policy for the majority of the stores that they dont have the capability to sell things, but they’ve heard us alr nothings being for sale. Some stores Sold some items in there stores
History of the Northridge CEC: Northridge opened in September 1981 as a Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre with a Balcony Stage. They would convert their Balcony into a Chuck E.'s House Facade (C-Stage) between 1989 and 1990, and then they received the 1993 Remodel (Phase 2) and a 2-Stage in 1993, which they still have both to this day. Northridge is the last CEC store with the wooden artifact shelves in the showroom from the 1993 Remodel, and is currently the 7th oldest former PTT still open.
I've said this before, But I think If anything to not somehow damage there brand. They could at the very least keep stores like Northridge the way they are. For example keep Northridge, Pineville and a few others. Even as of now they're destinations for anyone who really loves this brand. And will be one of a kind once the rest of the stores update to 2.0.
Yeah I couldn't agree more. That's literally the simplest thing they could do and then announce that so that the online community will advertise that for them, maybe that would increase the pilgrimages everyone is hopeful to take.
you should go to the la mesa ca location bc it has the last chuck e cheese's pizza sign and inside there is some phase newer decor but there is some phase 2 yes phase 2 so that is 80's decor in there in august they are gonna demolish the place so be quick
It was cool seeing this video after already watching your re-visit after they remodeled the store. It's a shame they couldn't keep more of that beautiful 90's decor!! Edit: Whoever is their Chuck E. kills it!
Since your channel is called “Sets, Streets, and Eats,” I figured I’d give you a fact about this location: This location is the Chuck E Cheese’s that John Favreau and Vince Vaughn visited in the 2001 film “Made”
Well my focus is animatronics and they have a Studio C Cappa that doesn't perform anymore so unless there is something else significant about the store itself there's no point in me visiting it :(
@thececguy3213 Pretty much any 1993 to 1998 poster says "Showbiz Pizza Time, Inc", as they were made before 1998, when SPT changed their name to CEC Entertainment, Inc. The reason for those posters appearing in stores that opened in 2004 (and before that) was because the 2005 Remodel (Phase 4) hadn't came out yet.
Not sure if this is common knowledge but how come a lot of these locations have the Rock-afire drum? They aren't Creative Engineering animatronics and the drum face during concept unification had the drum replaced. Is that just the drum face they installed for these stages? Must be a slap in the face for Aaron, knowing his disdain for these animatronics.
Hasn’t changed decor since ‘91? How awesome is that?! Didn’t you livestream from there recently? I remember Chuck E being super energetic and he also pointed out things throughout the showroom! Though it feels the only thing that will prevent all this from going away will be to pay corporate an exuberant amount of money. Money talks, so maybe they’ll reconsider?
The thing is, CEC destroys anything they can destroy, in my opinion it is terrible for their business, for one it makes the company look bad, and if you do not destroy the animatronics and all the other stuff and sell them at an auction, then they would have the money to hire better people and improve their restaurant, but instead, they want to sacrifice their money to protect their copyrights, which is absolutely terrible for business
CEC doesn't want us knowing about 2.0 so they can destroy the bots in peace. They don't even have the decency to save the wink, which cannot be used for inappropriate stuff.
He can actually. He owns the rights to that as well which is why he was able to sell the license to the guy that opened ShowBiz Pizza Zone in Alabama a few years ago.

Hard to believe every store looked like this at one point
Most stores looked even better
This store always fascinated me. It either didn’t remove showroom walls because of the actual building, or because they just didn’t want to remove them.
Why did they remove the walls? It just makes the layout alot more messy and confusing
Or because they never got phase 4
I love seeing a Chuck E. Cheese like that ! Takes me back to my childhood with that nostalgic feeling
I honestly wish that Every Chuck E Cheese would look like this, with animatronics. Great video. Keep up the work and accomplish your goals.

According to a phone call, they're getting 2.0 in May
if they were ever to make a film version of any "5-nights" movie here then this would indeed be the defacto place to shoot it!
I'm wondering if it was kept this way for so long because it's so close to Hollywood. They could make good money if it got used as a filming location.
I miss the little room that was under the stage with the strobe light. Lots of memories at various Chuck E Cheese around the San Fernando Valley.
