Keynote speech by Dr. Pieter Omtzigt (Member of Dutch Parliament), delivered on 7 October 2022 at PBL-TIAS seminar ‘Integrated assessment for environmental policy in the ‘post-truth’ society’. Omtzigt’s contribution focused on the use of quantitative models in policymaking, discussing their real-world effects, and how these may in some cases be undesirable. Omtzigt argued model-makers should be more aware of these effects and anticipate them in their products.
