Simply incredible!! I was born, raised and still reside in Moose Jaw, SK and still get a Thrill every time I see these guys. It would be a thrill of a lifetime to get to fly with these guys one day. But this video provided a great example what that would be like.

As a US citizen, ever since I first saw the Snowbirds demonstration, I've thought it far more impressive than the B-Angels or T-Birds demos. The SB's demo is all about pilot ability in a manually controlled airplane while the US forces demos are more about brute force in computer controlled aircraft. The SB's 9 ship tight formation aerobatic maneuvers are awesome! Any real pilot has the same appreciation for their piloting skills.
It's better to say nothing and be thought an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. Same is true for posting replies on subjects you (obviously) know nothing about. Regardless how law abiding, patriotic or American you may be, humans are not capable of controlling ANY F18 without aid of the FCS computer. Total FCS failure = airplane crashes. Period.
"Computer controlled aircraft". Oh, yes the Thunderbird and Blue Angel pilots sometimes don't even bother to get into the airplanes because of their computer control will do everything for them. That "computer control" system is great and it works well in real dogfights too. The pilot, as useless as he is, does have the job of flipping a switch thereby powering up the computer controls and then he ejects as he is not needed any more. The aircraft then puts on a complete aerobatic demonstration.
I'm as American as apple pie and bbq but I have to say that although the the Thunderbirds do put on an amazing show and their pilots are top notch, at the last show I went to I enjoyed the Snowbirds more simply because you can keep track of them easily and their teamwork is excellent. The F-16s flown by the T-birds need a lot more real estate and speed to do the same maneuvers and their aircraft are not as easy to spot in light clouds. If they were flying spangley painted A-4s with J-52s I'm sure they could do awesome and more view-able show but at the end they were told to fly white F-16s and they do their best with them. The T-birds do an amazing job of showing lethal the F-16 can be though because you can lose track of them at a freaking airshow and then they come out of nowhere!
@Psychological Nudity I guess it's hard for your 2 neurons to grasp a very basic concept that the OP was making: Hornets use "fly by wire" tech. The flight control surfaces are actuated by servo motors, which themselves are controlled by CPU's. The CPU's get their input from the manual inputs from the pilot (stick, pedals, throttles, etc). The computers then give the pilot mechanical feedback through the pedals, stick, throttles, to simulate the feeling of response from the airplane. Assuming that, so far, this isn't beyond your grasp then.... In contrast, the old Tudors are entirely MECHANICAL input from pilot to flight controls. His stick doesn't send an electronic signal to a CPU that then activates servo motors that then do the "work" of changing ailerons. In the Tudors, it's a direct mechanical cable linkage from the stick to these control surfaces. This is the point the OP was making, and through all of your bluster, juvenile jingoism, and hot air, you missed it. Must be a Trumpette.

Finally, for those who wish to buzz the CN tower, flight schools in the Toronto area are happy to take people up and let them do just that, for a few hundred bucks. It's not just the snowbirds who can get that view.

There will never be the exact words to describe the enormous amount of skills necessary to be a aerobatic pilot, not only the discipline and practice alone.
Don’t forget to mention the underrated crop duster pilots who look after our food chain.
Flying virtually with the Snowbirds is of course really cool. What would make it even cooler is constant play-by-play comments from the pilot about what he/she is doing (and is preparing to do) throughout the entire flight from pre start up to shut down and canopy up. Post flight thoughts might also be interesting. Pertinent questions from the guest could help us understand and "participate" even more. Technical information from the pilot related to the flying and choreography would be appreciated particularly by viewers with a bit of aviation knowledge. The rather detailed commentary could be added to the production post flight. Although the view from a Snowbird cockpit is always interesting, knowing what's going on would make it even more exciting. Comments on the view and landmarks would also add colour. Thanks for taking the time to take us along.

Coming up to 3 decades since my big bro passed away with 4 others in an RCAF training flight.
When he was coming up rank he wanted c130. They said he was perfect for F18, but he could call it and went Herc.
IN HIS DAY, he also went thru Big Red 2 in MJ, and the training was in the Tutor. In formations. Regular protocol even as he was working to the Herc. Those dont have the Colours is all....
I don't gafk if armchairs don't believe it, that was part of the procedure then, and it made experts on the stick. Sure it's antique but its maintained to an inch of everyone else's life. As in AMAZING MECHS AND TECHS involved, given the frame ages. And the uni's flying at least back then road the feathery rocket. So give a prayer and bow for the losses just now, and the years previous, to the brave COMPETENT members involved in the RCAF. You non mil families WILL NEVER KNOW the achievements, the "friendly allied competitions" we win across the border with our "antique methods and gear", from ppl put in ridiculous corners by govts that DONT CARE about the lives they risk.

blue angel fly modern f18 and thee snow birds fly old cl41 which are harder to fly they have over 40 years old thats why i think they are better because it take a lot of practice to do what they do in their show
The explanation of the ejection system made me slump my head. Us RUclips pilots are used to seeing ejection chutes pop at low altitude with a zero-zero seats. There was just no time in May 2020 to eject, get seat separation and deploy the chute. Thanks for this video.

I worked on those back in 67-68-69 out of Portage La Prairie. So many changes have been done to the instrument panel, the cockpit and all. I don't think I would recognize myself in there servicing them. My trade was Safety Systems so I serviced all safety equipment on the plane.

During the air show I was in the top of the CN tower, it was interesting looking down on the Snowbirds while they where flying. In the being there was a female, I believe she might have been the one in the crash in Kamloops. RIP madam.
I've seen the Blue Angels, Thunderbirds, Red Arrows and Snow Birds and enjoyed them all. Well trained, well disciplined bunch of pilots every one. It would be great to ride shotgun like this just once!

My only negative is with Capt. Parker's comment about taking delivery of these birds in the late '60's. Both FTS's (Gimli, MB and Moose Jaw, SK) had full complements by 1965. I was on the first training course that did not get basic piston engine training in the Dehaviland Chipmunk. We started our military flying training in the CT114 Tutor (aka the Canadair CL41).

My mother used to have a Nilfisk vacuum cleaner that sounded like 36:18 when you turned it off. It was still winding down long after you stored it. Needless to say, they give the best suction.

Snowbirds don't have the exposure the European and Asian teams have. Croatia, France, Red Arrows, Italy, etc... all have great teams. But it's nice having the snowbirds next to the F-18's of the American teams. it gives some contrast and something different. They don't overstep each others territory and seeing both at a show in North American on the same day is nice. They are different and don't compete.
But if the Canadians upgraded to F-18's they would constantly be compared to the American team, and if not as good, would not be as loved as they are now. I'm sure the guys with the snowbirds and thurderbird teams respect each other to the fullest and there is no competition at all between them. They are apples and oranges.
They are better, it's not the jet but the pilot/training.

Film footage switched between some small airfield and toronto pearson. In flight footage from inside the cockpit was all done in YYZ the outside views of take off and taxi are elsewhere. Taking off from runway 23, magically moments later they are taking off from 26 lol
Actually, the Blue Angels, who fly FA18's, do not wear G suits, even though they pull up to 9 g's. This is because the precision they fly with would be hampered by the constant inflating and deflating of the G suits.
I'm wearing G pants. Kind of inhibiting. Good thing I don't exercise. Upgrading to the G Wiz pants soon.

All of the Elite Demo Teams fly state of the art equipment. And then there is the Snowbirds. A basic jet trainer. SBS so the instructor can see what the student is doing right or wrong and correct as necessary. It wasn't engineered to do what these talented pilots do with it, and yet, they are one of the top display teams in the world. Just saying.

No. Those are tanks for the diesel fuel they use for smoke.
