Okay, from what I gather, his original story wasn't even that far off from the truth. Especially not enough to be dismissed. The Brazilian police was definitely scrambling to save their reputation to look better for tourists. They fabricated evidence, and had all the authority because it was their country.

I guess he forgot to mention that the amount "robbed" was 100 reais (about 30 bucks) and 20 USD. So about 50 USD, used to pay for the whole vandalizing. But, you know, they were robbed for sure!

Yes he was the victim in this story but it doesn't necessarily make him free of blame. He did a stupid thing in a dangerous country; he fucked around and found out. He had plenty of opportunities to fight for himself and took advantage of none of them. At every conceivable moment following this incident, it's as though he was trying to tarnish his own reputation. What the fuck were his coaches, teammates, and parents doing in the weeks and months following this incident to let him make so many mistakes? Just so much incompetence surrounding the whole story.
