I wish this had come out in the US. I'm certain I would have liked it a lot more then I like Dragon Quest I or Dragon Quest II and I had a friend who would let me play his spare Game Gear when we and our parents were on drives together.
Edit: Maybe they planned for there to be a part of the game where you lost the light pendant but ran out of time or space on the cartridge.

The Game Gear didn't offer many RPGs, so if that was your handheld of choice and you liked RPGs, you had to get this game.

I remember when I first discovered this game; I expected it to be equivalent to the game gear shining force titles, but for the Phantasy Star series. Needless to say, I was disappointed.
The Game Gear ate through batteries like nobodys business, so a high grinding game would feel extra frustrating for that I think. Like let me level up without draining my batteries plz!

Phantasy star 3 was so busted not having one save file per end path. The best thing I could say about 3 was the overworld music changing as you added party members.
*Daydream*: Imagine if an old breath of fire style rpg with say 9 possible party members and each played one instrument or part of a music track so the music would be different based on the party. Seems doable. Let them all play at once during end credits.

@@Deus421 depends on how you play it and how you enjoy those games.
@@GribbleGob I get that but,if you use boss runes and you find plenty of them around the map graveyards the singing enemies and not to mention the massive amount of rekinned bosses nullifies the need for grinding.
Even previous fromsoft titles some you can grind but it's not necessary use boss souls that'll give an extensive boost to your progression most people horde them that's why they feel the need to grind.

1 and 4 are unironically good, too bad the rest of the series sucks.
