I've cleaned the fan on my laptop so many times I have broken one of those hinge retaining nuts on the palmrest side and need to replace it. This video is just the ticket to show me how. Thanks for the great video and info Tim .... People like you make YT a great place for learning.
This really helped me i was able to replace the keyboard on a similar laptop , I went even further and just replaced the keyboard only. Very well explained thanks
*I think this keyboard can be accessed more easily from the other side, per other videos I've seen! Unless the purpose is more than just accessing the keyboard to tighten a cable. Can you please confirm that? I will start by trying to check for a loose cable, instead of fully replacing with a new keyboard.*
It is possible to replace just the keyboard however you will be literally grinding off what would seem to be hundreds of tiny plastic rivets just to remove the keyboard. Serious amount of labor.
@TimsComputerRepair Hi Tim, great video! Hi trying to diagnose a n hp lappy where just randomly the touch pad mouse cursor freezes! One time it started freezing and jumping all over the screen!
@@TimsComputerRepair Im not familiar with linux, but what would i need to do to complete that task? where do i get the linux from? would i need to burn it to dvd or just create bootable? you seem to be pretty good at what your doing :-) you seem pretty fluent at things when i watch all your videos :-) Im only just starting out in christchurch nz, im learning lots from your videos and also careys and britec aswell :-)
ya good old integrated keyboards. Did this swap a couple of times when people abused their laptop and broke the bottom half of the case to heck. A simple keyboard replacement winds up being a complete transfer instead. Thanks, HP ;)

You have to ask your self what on earth was the person drinking who was ask to design this style of laptop. I love OEM bashing lol. Great work mate
Makes replacing a keyboard a major job.
is it possible to replace just the keyboard itself or do you gotta replace the whole palm rest as well.

Sounds like touch pad failing. Can you boot the lappy into a live environment like Linux? See if the touch pad plays up then?

Seems to be how many laptop designs are going.
