    Is there a version for newbies? I'm wanting to measure the colour of solid objects with variable amounts of light reflecting ability. Obviously I am going to have to light them in the same direction/lumens, etc to be able to compare results.

    why dont you guys make spectrophotometers for water analysis??? its the same principle....
