    Edison (7) vs Westminster (3) 1985 CIF Semi-Final Game
    Coach Bill Workman Final Season
After losing to Westminster in the regular season 24 -14 Edison turned up the heat with a stellar defensive performance. Edison denied Westminster in the 4th quarter with 3 fanatic goal-line stands. The defense rose to the occasion down after down to advance the Chargers into the CIF Final against Long Beach Poly.
Westminster was five yards from victory with less than a minute to play in Friday night’s Big Five Conference semifinal in LeBard Stadium. Moments later, Dean Butler and Bruce Dubois threw Lion quarterback Steve Gulley to the turf, preserving a 7-3 win in front of a capacity crowd of 7,600.
All the Chargers could manage against Westminster was a 42-yard touchdown pass from Mike Angelovic to tight end Ken Griggs with 45 seconds left in the first half. Said Edison Coach Bill Workman, “I sure didn’t think seven points would hold up.

There’s more physicality in this game than some of today’s college and NFL games
