Get a grip. Murdoch isn't 'taken down' because you said something about him - in fact it will have no effect on him whatsoever.

You're 100% right, my father investigated him decades ago for tax evasion in Adelaide, when Murdoch first headed up The Advertiser. He prosecuted him several times but was told to 'back off' as Dad got too close. M approached him and offered him a job, Dad declined. M's tentacles have been spreading for decades and his son will continue the poison.

He may be retired but he still isn't gone completely. It's going to take a long time to undo all the damage he has done.

I remember feeling so helplessly angry looking at the headlines before Brexit and I think the papers should be held criminally responsible for climate inaction and feeding the very worst in human nature by trying to turn the majority against the most vulnerable .

Thank you for speaking up. I just watched that first interview. If that was in Australia on Sky you’d be interrupted every few words, and wouldn’t be allowed to finish a sentence. Not that I watch it. I do see clips on social media. The influence of Murdoch on debate and democracy here is tragic. The far right are now using a coordinated campaign to spread fear about out “Voice to Parliament” upcoming referendum about Aboriginal recognition in the constitution and a representative body to advise government of their perspectives. It’s only an advisory group like any lobby group but the media is being hysterical. It should be bipartisan. Murdoch media has done untold damage and created division in many areas of political opinion. It’s always sensational headlines and outrage. On with the video …

Worked for Murdoch in the early 80s in Australia, successfully sued for wrongful dismissal and then witnessed the horror as the cancer of Murdoch spread globally.

Eny interviewee who is prepared and ready to deliver straight forward objective facts is rare and unsettling. No idea who the lady was on your right, but you could see she was overwhelmed by the truth. Even if she agreed with you she was thinking 'I'm not as prepared as this', or maybe she was just one of those lie merchants, as I say I have no idea who she is (as I didn't watch), other than oerhaos she was there for 'balance'.
Problem is his son soon to be chairman of the Murdoch empire, Lachian Murdoch makes his father look like a choir boy.

I think you're right. I'm a soft left centerist. But I think it's arguable that RM has had a truly cataclysmic effect on both the UK and the US. In terms of helping to destroy our democracies. Stopping any action on climate change and a number of other issues. He will probably be looked back on in the same way as we view this individuals who were in large part responsible for the fall of Rome et al.
It's kind of obvious that democracy is meaningless, when a handful of families own half the wealth in the world. There wasn't much there to destroy in the first place. Mostly theatre. Any real change would require a revolution.
I am not celebrating his retirement, 100% will celebrate when the devil calls for him.
Quite right as usual Owen. One figurehead, however malevolent, is not the problem. The problem is the conditions which allowed such a monster to rise in the first place. Currently such conditions remain unaltered.

Murdoch said he was "transitioning" to his new "role". We don't know how much real power and influence he will have until he departs this mortal coil.
He was always getting smuggled into number 10 through the back door for meetings with many a prime minister in britain
