Once the grill is up to temp I oil it, I get kitchen towel and put a load of olive oil on the kitchen towel and then rub it over the grill. Also when those burgers look like they do at flip they naturally have unstuck themselves, most food that is undercooking sticks. But oiling the grill certainly helps. Maybe I’m stuck in a rut - I try to flip the burgers so they don’t stick, but they’re sticking because I’m flipping too early? Same goes for most things I cook over direct heat. I also used to close the lid when doing any cooking, both direct & indirect. Think I need to go back to basics and don’t overthink things! Would be good to see more BBQ vids mate.
You are more than likely flipping too early. If your coals are not flaming then don’t be afraid to leave them longer before flipping. Yeah go back to basics Lee, sometimes it is good to do that to increase confidence again, I have done that with lots of things in life. I will do some more bbq vids.
