I have two questions after watching a lot of your (amazing) lens testing videos: How exactly are you focussing when you photograph the test chart? Always in the center? I watch almost all of your test videos, and cant help but think about field curvature or how difficult it must be to get the chart exactly perpendicular to the camera. Wouldnt it be best to focus on the center and corners independently to get optimal results everywhere? Another thing is pixel density and „demanding“ high megapixel sensors (canon r7)… when you are zooming in to the white text circles to the same magnification shouldnt pixel density be irrelevant? Of course it is relevant when looking at 100% size. But you seem to always enlarge the test image to the same magnification (circle has the same size on screen). Big fan of your channel, helped me to make some lens decisions already 😊
Ok so.. I actually like flaring in images and am always saddened when a lens doesnt display any flaring at all or very little. But this one? Well damn thats way too much! Thanks for making this video though! Keeps me away from it for the fotos I am after ;D Anyway. I am still looking forward to anywhen seeing the TTArtisan 500mm F6.3 being reviewed! :P
i have the older version and hardly use it. i got the xf 14mm f2.8 and its so much better - of course. But the older pergear 12mm looks at least really COOL. the new version is one hideous piece in comparison 😂
So Pergear have not improve with de-centering. SIGH... I had version 1 and noticed the same issues you had. Corner softness was horrible, but that is more of an issue with de-centering. Also F2 is not a true F2, it almost at the same exposure as the kit lens at F3.5. Personally, it is not worth the money. Just step up to the Samyang 12mm f2.
@@anthonydiiorio Yes. But still reasonable, given it has auto focus, even slightly wider angle and brighter aperture. And in my region it is more like 2.4x. For comparison,. Sony 50mm F1.4 costs 5x the price of TTArtisan 50mm F1.4.
5:40 - Your sample also have a huge decentering issue - the lowest right corner is horribly soft, comparing to the other corners.
Very good review, as always ! 👍🏼
I can't wait to see a review of the new viltrox 25mm f1.7! That's something I'm buying! But I'll still watch your videos.

You can usually set the infinity with the set screws on the focus rings - I like to adjust mine so infinity is a hard stop.
Interesting you mention infinity focus issues. I had the same issue with the TT Artisan 17/1.4.
Neat stuff. I wonder if the issue is some field curvature?
Thank you for another great review, Chris. May I ask what the size is of your usual test chart?

Thanks for the excellent review. Do you use a machine for your lighting transmission tests?
Apparently the focus-plane is a focus saddle plane.
No CA and sharp at f/8, wide angle? That could be a great landscape lens.
To any Micro 4/3 users, this is a really poor performance compared to the Olympus 12mm f/2.
I see no reason for any of us to get this lens.

f11 missing 😂
Pista de audio en español, gracias
How does it compare to the Laowa 9mm?
I hate to praise a first-party lens, but it is very difficult to beat Sony 11mm F1,8 for this kind of lens given the its reasonable price and size.
The Sony is 3x the price lol

hmm not really a fan of how that looks, somewhat out of proportion
I agree, I never buy lenses that narrow that much at the front.
