      Quick question: are you running everything through the 303 to get it to all sound from the same source? Or is that more tuning/sound selection. The drum technique I try to emulate is the one I saw you do a while back. Keep it up man!

    • @spearPYN
      @spearPYN 4 года назад +2

      lol it sounds nuthin like Wu...people nowadays thinkin some new school lo-fi sounds like 90s. You better go back and relisten to 36 Chambers...The classic RZA sound is aggressive and melodic at the same time...Listen to Protect Ya Neck beat and restate your statement. There is no aggression in those new lofi beats. In the early 90s we were poor, frustrated, wildin -- thats why it was reflected in hard core aggressive music....
      This music right here is not aggressive...not at all...

    Do you have a roll effect on the Boss sampler? I used to have the Boss Dr. Groove 202 back in 2004, and man! There was a roll effect I think where the BASS button is, and when I would turn that on, and put it to the fastest speed possible, and slightly tap or hit a kick or snare, you wouldn't believe how thick, punchy and heavy it made the kick and snare. It was like multiple layers were being triggered at one time with a thick compression effect. When I get the money, I am definitely getting either the Boss Dr. Groove 202, this one you got here, or the SP-404. If y'all never used the roll effect at the highest speed possible, and hit the kick and snare lightly, just do it, and see what I mean. It is something that I discovered myself messing around with the Boss Dr. Groove 202. I'm telling you, try it. Your going to be amazed if the roll effect is on the other one's. I never heard or found a better effect than the roll effect on the Boss Dr. Groove 202. I absolutely love these little stand alone synth/drum machines and I can't get enough of them. Check out my channel here to see what I'm doing with just a Roland JD-XI and Electribe 2 synth/drum machine. The possibilities are endless if you put your mind to it, and study the machine itself. Less has always been MORE for me. Be inspired and Welcome!...SBN Lifestyle

It’s not like your just taking a loop from a song and repeating it, your just taking the sound elements and playing them a different way I’m i right or wrong?

    I listened to your album (listen) today on spotify and I have to say, it's the style that I like, these samples, these jazz sounds, I like that very much, I make beats myself and I wanted to ask you if you like your sounds still change something afterwards processing (Saturator, tape machine) so that this warm analog sound is created or is it sufficient that you simply take vinyl samples and that's where this warm, powerful sound comes from. I assume you only sample from vinyl right?

    • @walterclements2
      @walterclements2 4 года назад +2

      MPC helps but to my understanding the 2k isn't as known for its DACs and processing like the 4k and 60. The sp compressor for sure gets you there along with some tape saturation, vinyl fx, low pass and of course, sample selection. You can absolutely get there in a saw with the right plugins and know how but the mpc and sp line almost guide you into that way of thinking. Workflow and hardware restrictions take a lot of the guess work out of trying to achieve that sound

      @Charles Randolph totally! I just couldn't think of a better word but what I was getting at is that locking yourself into hardware that can get those types of sounds can usually produce better results (or is at the least easier) for people who get overwhelmed with the sheer open-endedness of a DAW
