I went to a Dominican salon ONE time, never again. The heat from the blow dryer literally burned the top of my ear. And I told her it was too hot and she kept saying it wasn’t. The next day the top of my right ear had a burn mark on it. That baby was probably crying because the heat they use is too HIGH. Poor baby.
Dominicans don’t claim to do silk press’s when I used to go they just called it a wash and set or Dominican blow out. That was when keratin treatments were becoming popular like 2009/2010s.
Girl the hair washing part is so real for me I have the same type of hair and it’s just different between when ur mom washes ur hair and when the people at the salon wash ur hair
Girl. My stylist from Costa Rica said if black people only knew how they talk about Black women and their hair....My stylist is bilingual...but she doesn't tell people that unless they ask her...The stuff that she overheard until she quit.she SAID was atrocious while working in a Dominican hair shop. Nah being annoyed that she had an attitude is wild because you didn’t validate her feelings if someone’s crying especially in pain even adults struggle to deal with, there’s no way your recording her and telling her she had attitude. That wasnt drama. The lady wasnt handling her gently. That hurts!! (Her hair strands are fine and fragile and kinky...you MUST KNOW how to handle that type.) Im a grown woman n that would've hurt me. (Thats why I do my OWN hair.) ...
Ok guys, I'm going to write some messages for yall as a dominican girl. So I always used to go to my aunties house to blowout my hair, but I have 3c hair. So I was in that chair for hours! They use a lot of extra heat to get it done, just because that's how it's done. This is not drama, they be having that crap at fire! 😂 But lots of Dominicans are taught at young ages to not like their hair. Taught that straight hair is easier to maintain. Taught that it's more beautiful. And it's not. It's just as good as any type of hair, all hair is beautiful. I'm a little girl, just 11. But I want to open a natural hair salon when I'm older, and accommodate all hair! I want my kids and their kids to love their hair, even if it's straight! So I'm already trying to get my license soon so I can make that bank and teach people to love their hair ❤ no superior types, all beautiful. Again, I'm just 11! But I hope we can become a society that loves everyone, and their hair 😊 bye! And thanks for reading my long story lol but I hope some people see this! ❤
I absolutely lovvvveee your comment and super proud of you. Never stop standing up for what you believe in sweetheart. I was just like you at your age about beauty and hair and I've never stopped. I've been in the beauty industry for 2 decades. Looking forward to you opening your Natural hair salon ❤ that's something I'm working on now in Atlanta. And I'm also gonna go back to school to teach it as well. ❤
@jamoresworld8233 omg thank you, this comment is so kind ❤️ I'll definitely hope that you can be my teacher haha! It's so heartwarming that someone who has a lot of experience wrote that comment, makes me feel like I'm not being looked down upon. Again thank you! 😭❤️
There are some programs at tech colleges that will allow you to get your cosmetology license while you are concurrently enrolled in high school. So, you do a half day in high school and a half day in the course you choose. Many of those programs are free for concurrently enrolled high schoolers! I wish you many years of success and happiness. You are such a well spoken and communicative young woman, it’s clear you can do anything you set your mind to.
Peach please be careful using the Dominican salons ~ most use excessive heat from both the blow dryer & flat iron. They have also been known to mix relaxer in with the conditioner so they can get our hair straight quicker. Anytime I would go I would have washed & deep conditioned my hair 1st ~ they would blow dry & curl. I tell them low heat & often it would still be too hot. It’s not healthy for our hair.💜
The way that the stylist was jerking the little girl’s head around and using that type of brush while blow drying, I probably would have been crying too. It happened one time when my Mama took me to a beauty academy to have my hair done, and I’ll never again let a non-black stylist touch my hair again!
It doesn’t matter the color because if you don’t know what you’re doing you’re still gonna mess up. The hairdresser you went just happened to be ‘non-black’ and bad so what your point?
@@sonjiewilson neither of the two girls working on my hair were black and didn’t have anything CLOSE to the texture of my 4C hair! They had me looking crazy, and my mother unleashed on them when she came back to get me. My cousin who was attending the academy told her that this black girl who was also attending the school would be doing my hair. That was NOT the case. This was in a rural, predominantly white small area in Texas.
Only Dominicans that most likely know what they are doing with the hair straightening are good with being steady and careful when it comes To the scalp
I'd be crying too. Way too much heat! My scalp felt like it was being set on fire. My hair started breaking from all the heat. I went back to a relaxer and my hair has been flourishing ever since.
I took my daughter to them . She had hair past her shoulders. They called Themselves trimming her hair and that was the worst mistake ever her hair started shedding real bad 😔
Why must we fetishize long length hair? We need to teach our children to love themselves authentically. If her hair never reaches that length that’s ok! It’s those small comments and subconscious expectations/beauty standards that give our kids self esteem issues and fill them with self hate. We literally have our sisters walking around with units laced with makeup melting spray you name it to cover up, alternate hairlines, etc to cover up their natural beautiful hair. Her hair length is sufficient just the way it is.
Girl why would u post ur child in pain? Also, why take her to a Dominican Hair salon as well. Those stylists use CRAZY amounts of heat especially the flat irons and blow dryers (this isn't meant to be racist or anything) but don't ever do this again unless she's old enough to handle it. Even I, a teenager can't stand the flat iron because of how it can burn ur scalp. So don't do it again babe
Maybe you should let her embrace her natural curls rather than touring her beautiful natural curly hair 😢(Most Dominican hair salon aren’t that great to begin with)
“When I wash her hair she be screamin bloody murder” Girl she was screaming bloody murder in that chair while getting her hair straightened!! They put the heat WAYY too high!
Gurll im dominican and lemme tell youuu.. them dominican hair salon hair dryers be BURNIN HOT, Like as hard as they try to not burn you. The dang blow dryers be darn hot everytime-
I went to get my hair straightened once at the Dominican shop and I can confirm some Dominican ppl aren’t as rough when it comes to hair straightening on the scalp.
Flat irons do burn the scalp if you're not careful. Also your hair length goals will come faster with less heat, deep conditioning (for moisture), regular trims and protective styles.
Beautiful Gorgeous, but I don’t blame you! That heat from that blow dryer be crazy! No bueno! Please, no excessive heat on her head so that her hair can continue to grow healthy. Roller set under the dryer for about 20 mins. A little blow drying to stretch her roots may be necessary because her hair is natural, but on the lowest heat possible and for only a few minutes. They be having the heat setting on hell! 🥵 Wrap her hair, comb it out later and let that duby flow! 👩🏽 The style will last longer that way as long as you wrap it every night with a little setting lotion. I don’t recommend this style too often, only once in a while to treat her hair and give it a break from the braids. She is so adorable and such a girly girl! I luv it! 🤗🥰
Pretty. Be careful at the Dominocan salon...sometimes they put relaxer in the shampoo/conditioner. But this place didn't do that obviously so you've found a good spot.
@@ruthcutler1345 It’s true. Dominican salons are known for Brazilian blow outs and keratin treatments, so some salons take the initiative to sneak permanent straightening services in the appointment in the same way some black salons sneak relaxer in the shampoo too. IAMTRAEH used to do a salon horror stories series and it seems this happens regardless of who operates the salon.
My daughters hair went from ear length at 4yrs old to waist length at now 11yrs old. Never been to a salon. I grew her hair. Simply deep condition/wash every other wk, keeping it moisturized & absolutely NO HEAT non whatsoever. Her hair is literally to her waist & ppl never believe it's real.
I've had my hair blown out like that before. Those hairdryers and straight irons reach much higher temperatures than normal ones. Extremely hot. The child was most definitely in pain. She "hit the camera" because who wants to be filmed crying?
Very disturbing video all round. That little princess is traumatised and in pain just to get her hair bone straight for all of how many hours/days before it reverted 😢. Poor baby❤
I love that you call her gorgeous 💖parents really don’t know how important that is. I grew up with my grandmother and I never remember her speaking life into me, so it’s very nice to see this.
First time I went to a Dominican salon I cried like that too. Once they bring out the heat, all bets are off. They don’t care about tender head nothing. They hurt tf out of my head man and I couldn’t. It was for 5th grade graduation. Idk what it is, but the heat is just a little hotter in there🥴😭
Shrinkage is real! You never see how long 4C and all other non straight hair textures are until they're completely pressed. Even blowouts don't do them justice!
Chi products would work wonders for her hair type it will give it shine moisture and that bounce and body ❤ stay strong gorgeous it’ll get better I give my kiddie clients Chips juice and the iPad plus I interact with them helps them feel less nervous
My hairdresser used chi, and it looked familiar and went home, and I had the same heat protection. The flat iron I can't do on my own hair, that's a process, lol!
Peach, I agree with the other ladies about going to a Dominican salon. They use excessive heat that's not good for our hair. Trust me. Me and my daughter used to go to them and our hair started thinning out because of their methods of doing hair. Find a natural hair salon.
Pookie, she was crying with real pain. First of all, she’s probably crying of how hot that straighter is. And yes, I know how that feels because I have natural curly hair, and my mom straights my hair a lot because I ask her to, and she sometimes burns me on accident and I have to hold in my tears all the time because of how she burns me. (On accident not on purpose Btw.) and second of all, erm, I DONT THINK SHE WOULD LIKE A FREAKING CAMERA ON HER FACE WHEN SHES CRYING-💀 and actually learn how to be a good mom and don’t just tell her to “calm down.” 💀 Do you hair straight If you want to learn your actual daughter’s feelings-.
Baby, let me tell you, Gorgeous had every reason to cry because honey, that round brush, blow-dry time, is a beast! It feels like your skin is melting sometimes. The end results are always beautiful. I guess that's what they mean when they say beauty is pain 🤷🏽♀️😁
Dang. I see everyone in the comments saying how hot the blow dryer is 😳. I'm glad I've never been to a Dominican Salon but I've had my fair share of horrible experiences. Poor baby girl.

Like wtf??? The fact that it’s a kid makes it worse not better Like it clearly ain’t normal to record someone when they’re sad, let alone crying like wtf
Thats because her density is high (meaning there is a LOT of strands of hair on her head.) However, all those MANY strands are fine (almost like thread in a sense). So therfore when it isnt straightened out it appears thick because there are soooo many atrands.. it gives the 'thick' look. ...

This is an example of what not to do as a parent. First of all, this is just a pet peve of mine but this was not a blow out this was a full on silk press and that is putting way too much heat of her hair so young. You could have just acually blown ot streched out her hair for a trim. Second of all you child is in pain from being burnt and you saying dhes misbehaving? Like hello? Also then you take a video of your child crying and what not aswell as the exact salon you went to, embarrassing them and because nothing in the video was cencored possibly endangering your child
Black or non-black if you don’t know what you’re doing it’s not gonna turn out good. Color has nothing to do with it as long as the person has experience, and knows what they’re doing it will turn out good no matter the color. And who are you to question their decision she’s not your child so mind your own business.

Damn, this is messed up. This has always been a thing but why are we still doing it? Putting your kid through unnecessary pain just so you can make yourself feel better out of vanity, this is literally crazy. And the same people want to cry about how the world doesn't like kinky hair. Why would you expect them to like it if you don't learn to love it yourself? Poor kids.

I agree. They do a horrible job. When my hair was relaxed before I went natural. I use to go to them. I stop going because they don't rinse the conditioner out good. I constantly had dry conditioner in my hair. It was ridiculous 🙄
Sis, if u want length keep it protected. Minimal combing minimal chemical or thermal manipulation. Personally box braids and cornrows have grown my kids and my hair out. We're keeping the length and all of us are bra strap length or longer. I wash it in the braids apple cider vinegar rinses oil and just protecting the hair literally. Also we stopped cutting it. Our goal is length and trims don't help that. Love to see u investing in our young Queens! Thank u for ur patience and dedication I remember those hot combs as a kid shes a CHAMP!! 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤

Poor baby.

I am French but I find your message very touching I use Google translate 😅😅
@@CHĀMALLØWBiscuits aw thank you! ❤️
You are such a well spoken and communicative young woman, it’s clear you can do anything you set your mind to.
her name is gorgeous. wow.
Exactly why I don’t conditioner 🤷🏽♀️I always pre wash and condition my own hair
Heat damage for sure

@@starchstore7637 No, I seen it for myself in New Jersey at a Dominican Salon. Not all but some. Not a stereo type its a fact

The way that the stylist was jerking the little girl’s head around and using that type of brush while blow drying, I probably would have been crying too. It happened one time when my Mama took me to a beauty academy to have my hair done, and I’ll never again let a non-black stylist touch my hair again!
Yes
It doesn’t matter the color because if you don’t know what you’re doing you’re still gonna mess up. The hairdresser you went just happened to be ‘non-black’ and bad so what your point?
@@sonjiewilson neither of the two girls working on my hair were black and didn’t have anything CLOSE to the texture of my 4C hair! They had me looking crazy, and my mother unleashed on them when she came back to get me. My cousin who was attending the academy told her that this black girl who was also attending the school would be doing my hair. That was NOT the case. This was in a rural, predominantly white small area in Texas.
Only Dominicans that most likely know what they are doing with the hair straightening are good with being steady and careful when it comes
To the scalp
Beautiful little queen.
I'd be crying too. Way too much heat! My scalp felt like it was being set on fire. My hair started breaking from all the heat. I went back to a relaxer and my hair has been flourishing ever since.
So the chemical burns from the relaxer is not worse? 🙄
I’ve had worse.
I took my daughter to them . She had hair past her shoulders. They called Themselves trimming her hair and that was the worst mistake ever her hair started shedding real bad 😔
Plus, they handled her hair all rough. It was nothing about no drama that Child was in pain. Shame on mom.
The child needs a black mama.
When they have children with other nations the children suffer.
Now where in the he'll is dad?
Oh that baby. I’m so sorry for her tears. Kiss kiss baby girl

I luv it! 🤗🥰
Why are they taking a photo when the baby girl is crying 😢
Gorgeous is literally that .. GORGEOUS 😩🥹😍😍😍💕 god bless yall !
Pretty. Be careful at the Dominocan salon...sometimes they put relaxer in the shampoo/conditioner. But this place didn't do that obviously so you've found a good spot.
my daughter just told me this, I was going to get mines done and she mentioned that
@@ruthcutler1345 It’s true. Dominican salons are known for Brazilian blow outs and keratin treatments, so some salons take the initiative to sneak permanent straightening services in the appointment in the same way some black salons sneak relaxer in the shampoo too. Peach, I agree with the other ladies about going to a Dominican salon. They use excessive heat that's not good for our hair. Trust me. Me and my daughter used to go to them and our hair started thinning out because of their methods of doing hair. Find a natural hair salon.

I’ve been to the Dominicans all my life. I’ve never got used it or been relaxed.
@@zaire-aniyarobinson2928 why is that if may ask?!

Tell her Dad it won’t grow right if she doesn’t get a trim..
Her hair looks so thick, but wow it's thin.
Do you even know what you’re talking about?
Thats because her density is high (meaning there is a LOT of strands of hair on her head.) However, all those MANY strands are fine (almost like thread in a sense). So therfore when it isnt straightened out it appears thick because there are soooo many atrands.. it gives the 'thick' look.

The only thing I don't like is she didn't use an African American stylist. We just know our hair better and the stylist didn't look welcoming...
For me, a Black salon uses more heat... Blow dryer, flat irons, along with the curlers in the stove heated up with smoke coming off of them..
Black or non-black if you don’t know what you’re doing it’s not gonna turn out good. Color has nothing to do with it as long as the person has experience, and knows what they’re doing it will turn out good no matter the color. Oh baby if this ain’t my daughter 😂
