Axes do more damage but swords are way faster and I think for two on 1 his better chance is to be able to hit them more times

Iron axe does so much damage too non armored people maybe like 7,5 or 8 hearts when no armor

Axe is the most useful item it can chop wood easily and it has more damage than a sword
@Ans Hunt a stone axe has 7 attack damage and the diamond sword has 7 attack damage aswell yet this is 1.8.9 so you're right
