    *TIMESTAMPS//SHOW NOTES*
    00:00 Opening
    10:11 Sophie grabs coffee
    13:12 And Converses About Books
14:53 Sophie critiques the opening of "The Uninhabitable Earth" while talking about her upcoming video on climate doomerism (this is really good, don't skip this)
26:07 A preface to the InfoWars commentary
28:13 _Nick Fuentes is a horrible little Nazi slug who sucks_
30:11 Weekend at BernYe's - some much needed nuance about how the accountability/actions of people with mental illness are manipulated/perceived
32:16 "Image", celebrity, feeding into anti-Semitism, control over image
36:18 An interesting comparison (elder abuse), hypothesis: abusers controlling/benefitting from finances/assets or value of brand
39:41 _A spectre is haunting Mars - the spectre of Mildred_
40:54 [Insert Curb Your Enthusiasm theme here]
    43:07 Sophie is based
43:14 _Thank you Kanye, very cool!_
    45:09 Decontextualised cryptofascist propaganda B-roll
    46:07 Sophie is still based
    47:14 _Boymoder fit_
48:00 Again, being derealized and saying harmful things are not mutually exclusive; Sophie invites Jewish viewers to share their perspective
    48:37 Very interesting tangent: the Talmud is not Jewish law, it is contradictory because it's a sum of interpretations; Fuentes is unquestionably lying {also see _m. error_'s comment}
54:42 _Net and Yoohoo_ (FUCKING END ME)
56:30 Sophie quotes Abed from Community and then leaves
    58:16 _Return with the Elixir_
59:58 Interesting point: Ye's current informational flow is a system of control to manipulate him and his belief system
1:04:26 Being directed to be a mouthpiece for Nazi talking points
1:06:44 Ye's/Tim Pool's/Nick Fuentes' place in the right wing media ecosphere (and the show is called Timcast lmao, what a great name)
1:09:32 Jimmy Kimmel decontextualising Nick Fuentes is detrimental
1:12:44 The only purpose in Sophie talking about the manipulation, is her trying to talk about a process by which Nazis are using people who have a large platform to leverage media attention to propagate their ideas - and not attempting to determine their belief systems
1:13:37 _A playground understanding of history_
1:17:54 *[You will take 10 Psychic Damage listening to this]*
1:18:06 An interesting side note: a theory about a prepared set of points, an exercise of power through internal politics; a choreographed dance
1:24:21 The measurable overlap between someone who would be called paranoid and the conspiratorial style of politics; laundering talking points between cranks and grifters; contrasting Jones'/Ye's talking points in terms of being carefully constructed and cohesive and deliberating serving an agenda
1:29:30 Reactionary pundits competing in furthering internal Republican Party politics
1:30:39 Identifying several recurring anti-Semitic tropes
    1:31:16 *[Combo x 2: +10 Psychic Damage]*
    1:31:48 Empathising with Alex Jones
1:32:28 *[OH GOD PLEASE FUCKING MAKE IT STOP]*
1:32:48 Sophie synthesizes a very good summary of everything we've been unfortunate enough to witness thus far
1:42:41 Rewording one of the main points: the significance of all of this? It's all an attempt of the successfully-deplatformed alt-right manipulating Ye's goodwill/brand in order to try to integrate the explicitly Nazi ideals into the fringe-but-still-mainstream Trumpist Republican movement or even the "anti-woke"/ostracised fanbase through a process of acceptance
1:47:13 The difference between Christian dominionism and Nick Fuentes, reiterating the culpability of Ye
*End notes:* _(Hi!)_ I feel like you've concisely said what people haven't, but if they tried to, they would fail - both in terms of the false dichotomYe (I'm sorry), and of the objectives/motives of his new entourage/leeches/puppeteers/abusers. I feel like the main points condensed down would do really well as a very short and concise video, because I've seen people both not taking this seriously enough or missing the point of what's so sinister about what's happening. Having said that, I don't know whether it would be like the style of videos most people are used to/will watch on the main channel. Speaking of which, because of that interlude of breaking down the book, I'm really looking forward to that climate doomerism video coming up. Best wishes.

Jones and Feuntes had very different goals here. Jones wanted to use Ye to make money and Nick wanted to use Ye to spread antisemitic propoganda. Alex Jones declared bankruptcy the day after this interview; so only one of them was successful

30:11 This. This right here is what has been driving me up the wall about the coverage of Ye. I work with people with psychotic disorders on a daily basis. The ways in which the people around them influence them and their beliefs is really important to understanding their particular form of psychosis.
The easiest way to express that is that psychotic delusions follow cultural trends: until the UFO craze began, very few people with schizophrenia would believe that aliens were causing the voices in their heads. Similarly during the satanic scare there was a sudden increase in the belief in satanists among those with psychotic disorders. In my work during the pandemic, we saw an uptick of people with schizophrenia who believed in Qanon conspiracies. This is not because everyone who believes those things is psychotic, but people with psychosis will often grab on to the most culturally or personally relevant points of reference to explain their experience, and conspiracy theories or moral panics do a good job of slotting in.

I can’t get over how bad Alex Jones is at interviewing people. You’d think he’d at least be able to keep a conversation going, or be able to redirect it when it goes in a direction he doesn’t want, but so much of the interview is just him going “ah” or awkwardly pausing at Ye’s answers. I know he’s a talentless hack, but even talentless hacks can pick up minor skills after so many years of doing the same job. I guess I’m glad that he’s so ineffective at what he does, it really does limit his audience to people who are already deep into the fascist pipeline.

I just want to quibble here: the Talmud is not 'Jewish law' in the same way Mishnah (kinda) is, but it is a series of texts in which the Rabbinic era sages argue out rulings on halakhic (which: the core of Jewish law) subjects, among other things. And these decisions and pronouncements are part of what later rabonim and poskim (rabbis and judges of law) use to derive later rulings and interpretations of how the core laws of halakha are to be enacted in the world.
None of Sophie's characterisations of what it is are precisely wrong either- Talmud is a lot of things! But it does absolutely form part of the interpretative chain from which modern readings of what halakha *is* derive from, for most, not all, Jews on Earth. So: Fuentes is fucking wrong and what he is saying is also still wrong (nothing in the fucking Talmud is straightforward or binding because it's extremely internally contradictory and allusive and complicated, bc it's a bunch of stories about the arguments and actions of a bunch of magical rabbis who do absolutely berserk shit and spend the rest of the time arguing), and what he is saying is actually an antisemitic shibboleth, but. But. There is a relationship between the Talmud and halakha and that shouldn't be downplayed.
(also: Sophie, if you see this, congrats on the study, may knowledge be ever sweet [and confusing and perverse and frankly kinda bugfuck]

As someone who's experienced psychosis personally and as someone with a parent with untreated bipolar depression, this is much more like a severe hypermanic episode. Not just through the symptoms Ye's showing (which are textbook for a severe bipolar manic episode), but also because: we already KNOW kanye has bipolar depression. It makes more sense to look at this as a continuation of an ongoing health crisis for kanye, rather than a new crisis.
he even said himself a few years ago that he was discontinuing the medication that got him stable the last time he became manic (and got diagnosed) in this way. and since that time, we've seen him become progressively more and more erratic, with mania symptoms worsening (inappropriate laughter, word salad, erratic racing thoughts and speech patterns, poor financial management, paranoia about being under threat of death or surveillance, etc)
it's just that this time, nazis were ready to lovebomb him and groom him into their puppet.

After the 2016 Trump interview and now the Fuentes thing I’m getting very close to thinking Kimmel might just be a crypto-fash. Like he continues to platform fascist ideas and figures without any caveats and then when he gets called out he just goes “whoops” like…you have infinite resources with which to find out who these people are, what these ideas mean and at this point he’s either refusing to do so or actively ignoring it and either way he should be seen as directly oppositional to progressive ideas

Another sad secondary effect of this whole thing (at least IMO) is also how this will help clean the images of Tim Pool, Alex Jones and whatever other pundit. This is a detail, but because Sophie is going to do a video on the book I think is worth to point it out to avoid fair criticism that would distract from the actual point. While the passage and the discussion she read at the beginning are clearly geographically deterministic BS etc., the US are correctly labelled as "a temperate country". Sophie reaction was to think of specific local climates, but the description was intended as a global one. So temperate does not indicate a specific temperature, but the position on the planet. To be clear, the US mainland is temperate, and so are China, most of Europe, and also Morocco and Libya And many others).
Basically the globe is divided in zones based on the parallels, the most relevant for this discussion are the equator at 0°, the 30° parallels (north and south) and the 60° (again, north and south), due to the movement of the earth and other factors. Basically this phenomena is behind the winds movements and creates the major currents that trades hot and cold air, influencing climate: the equatorial wind (from east to west), the trading winds (northeasterly and southeasterly) between the equator and the 30° parallels, and then the westerlies from the 30° to the 60°. You can see this phenomena really clearly by looking at a satellite view of South America, in the Andes you can see the 30° as in the northern part, closer to the equator the amazon forest is on the east side of the mountains and the westerner side is arid and deserter, while south to the the 30° parallel the situation inverted, with the west side covered in forest and the east side arid. It's because of the winds and the mountain. The Andes forces humid air to drop and causes heavy rains on the side they impact, creating a "shadow of rains" in the other side. As the mountain are almost perpendicular to the 30° parallel the line is very visible.
Because the mainland US is located between the 30°N and the 60°N (Florida and Texas are on the 30°North and partially south to it, hence warmer climates, but still close enough to the line to exchange winds), so they are in a temperate zone. Not as hot as the equatorial countries (tropical and sub-tropical, between the equator and the 30° parallels) and not as cold as the arctic and sub-arctic ones (between the 60° and the pole). This will never changes, unless drastic changing in the orbit of the planet, as if the planet gets warmer, the tropical zones will always be hotter then the temperate and the arctic zone will always be colder.
Now the rest of the discussion in the book was correctly identified as BS, furthermore, being in the temperate zone does not influence how much climate change will impact (it will hit everybody all over the globe, wealth is a much better indication of who will be able to react better...), but it will impact which phenomena will happen. Moreover some specific climates can exists only at certain latitudes, but being in the temperate zone doesn't imply the same thing. Example, the US are often hit by tornadoes, this is not the case for Europe, China, Australia or Argentina. This is because of Atlantic current and similar, which makes the US often on the trajectory. Climate change may causes more tornadoes and make more damages in the US than in other temperate countries. For Europe drought and flooding are more likely. Oh, look, how weird, we literally got both in the last years...
Well, sorry for the wall of text...

Don't be sorry at all for the wall of text!! To explain the Ari Emanuel thing - Ari is a very big power player in the music industry (his brother Rahm is the former Chicago mayor) and one complaint against him is that all of his live music festivals (which are like... all the big ones) have very restrictive contracts that prevent artists from performing in the same city for years after the festival. Wouldn't be surprised if Ye had some conflict with him about that.

That’s so fascinating to me, that bit about the story of Noah’s ark. I was raised in the Roman Catholic Church (now atheist), and that story was always very much told in a “Noah was so special, and it serves all those dead people right for being so ungodly, and it’s a good thing that god wiped the Earth clean” sort of way (not quite that explicitly, but you get it). It really drives home for me how much Christianity (at least, modern Christianity) is a religion built on absolute obedience to a higher power, with no arguments or objections. It was reflected in our schooling too, I remember asking a lot of why questions as a kid, and the answer was usually “because it is”. The idea that the story of Noah could have been a cautionary tale about NOAH’S actions, rather than the wickedness of everybody else, is sort of blowing my mind a little rn.

I can't help my depression, it's not my fault I have depression, but how I act, and what I do is still my responsibility. Ye is responsible for his actions, but it's not his fault that he's in the state of a full episode.
