This was the band’s first release after David Lee Roth left and Sammy’s debut, hence his first line - that wail announcing his arrival. I liked their songs much more with Sammy.
Now that you're into the Hagar-era, you've absolutely gotta hit "Right Now". The messaging is timeless and couldn't be more important than it is "right now". The original music video is perfect. Its also a stand-alone kick-ass tune.
Watch the Van Halen concert called Right Here Right Now. It was filmed in 1992 at Selland Arena in Fresno CA. I was fortunate to have been there. One of the best shows ever!
First hit from the new Van Hagar album, summer of 1986! It was so exciting and sad that old VH was done. Huge hit at 15 years old driving to school (being driven really) Ha. listening to new VH! Have to say EAT EM AND SMILE from Diamond Dave was some good ass competition...One of the best years ever. Glad you enjoyed it, it really was great, good feeling music. Thank you once again my brother, made my night. Oh, and first number one hit from Van Halen ever. ..was with Sammy! \m/
David was full of himself. It was sickening after while. Don't get me wrong, DLR was hangar with Ice Cream Man and all their earlier stuff. Sammy just ramped it up.
Sammy Hagar stepped up and kept Van Halen alive after Dave's departure. Tough shoes to fill, and he brought it!!!! You should totally react to his solo work. Three Lock Box is a great song to start with.
Great tune! Right Now is amazing & you MUST pay attention to the video, to this day I think it's one of the best videos I've ever seen, the messages being just a relevant now. Don't Tell me what Love can Do, again AMAZING song & video
Van Hagar! They were awesome too. I always say I heard them in concert - I got a freak allergy attack that day and my eyes were a swollen mess. Dude in the audience let me use his binoculars a couple times so I could try and get a better look, lol. 🤘
Loved Diamond Dave and loved Sammy Hagar too. Saw Sammy a few years back, 70y old rockin out still, Mark Anthony was on bass touring with him, or was a great night, total fun!! Try "Right Now" I love that one. 🔥❤👍🏽
I'm recommending for your next Reaction Hot For Teacher, [Oh] Pretty Woman, Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love, Can't Stop Lovin' You, Dance The Night Away, Dreams, Where Have All the Good Times Gone! By Van Halen
I like ALL versions of Van Halen (and yes, that includes the Gary Cherone version). But the cool thing about Sammy is that he could sing AND play guitar, which expanded Eddie's options during a live performance like this. RIP2EVHURTHEGOAT
I thought Gary vocal wise was a great fit...he kind of got screwed with the direction they took on that album tho. Most of the music was written already and he didn't really have much input. He could sing both Sammy and David and make them both sound good. Saw them on that tour with Kenny Wayne Shepard
When you said you didn't recall the singer sounding like this, my first thought was that you've only reacted to Van Halen in the past and not Van Hagar (Sammy Hagar on vocals era). I can't remember what you have reacted to of theirs, but yeah..different guy altogether. What you decide to react to next is really dependant on whether you are looking for more Van Halen or more Van Hagar. I got favs from both eras as both are fire and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!! Just close your eyes and click on something. Chances are pretty great you can never go wrong with them.
Another one good song of VH with Sammy Hagar is "Can't stop lovin' you", from Balance album, "When it's love" from OU812 album. And one more song from Sammy Hagar is Winner takes it all (Soundtrack to Over the top)
I tried to get your most recent reaction because I’m hoping you’ll see this. I found out that you love A WHITER SHADE OF PALE. Well, one of my favorites is JoeCocker’s live performance of this same song. I believe it’s live from Berlin. His tone is wonderful. I would love for you to hear and see it.
Sammy Hagar joined Van Halen on vocals from 1986 to 1996... and briefly in 2004, after the exit of original singer David Lee Roth in 1985. Today, he's 74 yrs old and still singing! He's a much more accomplished vocalist than Roth... Hagar was a veteran rocker who had started singing in the late 60's, and could also play lead & rhythm guitar. His first success came in 1973, when he joined the band Montrose (which was 1 of Eddie Van Halen's favorite bands) and recorded 2 album before he was fired in 1975. Broke but determined, Sammy Hagar put together a solo rock band and started recording in 1976... an early radio single 'Red' got him the nickname 'the Red Rocker'... he released a string of albums and toured constantly in the disco era. Solo success came in 1981 when his album 'Standing Hampton' sold platinum in the US (1 million copies) and he became famous for the hit singles "I can't drive 55" ... "There's only one way to rock" ... 'Heavy metal' ... 'Your love is driving me crazy'... 🔥🔥🤘🤘 In 1985, Sammy Hagar was considering retirement from music, when Eddie Van Halen called him up to audition for Van Halen... Apparently, he was getting into keyboards, and David Lee Roth was not a fan of that style of music... Hagar heard Eddie's music and was won over after writing lyrics for the tracks... That album became '5150' in 1986, which went to #1 and scored hits like 'Dreams' ... "Why can't this be love" ... 'Summer nights' ... 'Love walks in'... which went in a more arena rock direction than past VH records.
So many people hate on the Sammy era. I love it, personally. Prefer his voice, by far. And loved the vibe. Edited 2 min later... huh huh you said, "I don't rmbr his voice sounding this good". No, coz that wasn't Sammy, before. I love it! 😄👍
There was 2 real era's of Van Halen with 2 different singers. Sammy was the better singer. David was the ultimate showman. We all try to forget about the 3rd singer era tho
🤣🤣What you said💯🤣🤣 Seriously tho🤷🏾♀️Who was that guy I've completely forgotten. All T. No Shade......... 🤔Well maybe just a little shade. 💢 That guy. 🤣🤣🤣
Correction... There were three eras, Roth, Hagar and Cherone, and I don't forget about the third era frankly I think that was the most mature era and that's what the fans hated the most about it. Everyone blamed Gary for that and I don't think that was fair because Eddie was a much more mature person at this point in his life and co-wrote all of the music it wasn't just Gary's fault everyone made him the Fall Guy
🌹🥰 OZZY OSBOURNE REACTION PLEASE!? 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 List of my faves: (He won’t disappoint) • Changes (live version with daughter, Kelly) • Goodbye to Romance • Dreamer • Mama, I’m Coming Home • Paranoid (1974 California Jam) • Changes (1972 version)
Saw them in the 70s, 80s and 90s... i think i really do prefer Van Hagar. DLR was a showman, but there is a point when you realize he cant sing and is kinda distracting. Like the damn show off kid. With sammy, it was just great concerts, everyone was perfection. Right now is one of the best vids of the era and songs. No matter what, Michael Anthony is the man.
Van hagar was amazing. Sammy saved van halen, hagar knew how to get the best out of Eddie. Check out Poundcake and Right now two songs that are timeless.
Great song . Although I’m a DLR fan I can totally appreciate Sammy & his talents . Hey Jv , you should listen to Bad Things by Jace Everette , this was the theme song to the vampire series Trueblood but it was Jace’s single before the show even happened. It’s a very haunting, unique song . 😈
Absolutely love Sammy's voice, great song, all good for me! Much prefer him than David Lee Roth, no disrespect! His solo Can't Drive 55 is awesome. Just saw yr reaction of Dreams by lovely Stevie Nicks😘😍. Great singer, great band all good also. Nice combo Stevie and Sammy 😀
This is one of my favorite VH songs. The 51/50 album was one of the best VH albums with Sammy Hagar. I loved this version of VH the best. I actually saw when Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth (original VH singer) toured together. Sammy blew Dave away, David Lee Roth was a snooze fest compared to Sammys set. Sammy Hagar always puts on a great high energy show. Please react to more Van Halen with Sammy Hagar. They had a lot of good ones. Sammy Hagar also has some good ones as a solo artist. Thanks for this one!
Song blew my mind when it dropped in 1986! Sammy such a great singer!
Not too many could have followed up on DLR's act, but Hagar was a great change-up to accompany Eddie's evolving music.
This was the band’s first release after David Lee Roth left and Sammy’s debut, hence his first line - that wail announcing his arrival. I liked their songs much more with Sammy.
Said no one ever 🙈
I didn’t but this song was a banger
It's old school hard rock v pop rock depends what you enjoy i suppose
Me too. Sammy is alright with me.
Yeah, this song equals the best of the DLR era. But unfortunately it's their only one, imo.
Sammy is my all time favorite rockn roll singer and his stuff with VH is absolutely gold. Keep rockn my friend!
Now that you're into the Hagar-era, you've absolutely gotta hit "Right Now". The messaging is timeless and couldn't be more important than it is "right now". The original music video is perfect.
Its also a stand-alone kick-ass tune.
Oh Yeah!!! Hagar rocks!!!
Agreed
“Right now” message is timeless ♥️
Try Poundcake
Heck yeah.
Van Halen "When it's love" ❤️❤️ My favorite.
One of my favorite Van Halen songs is 'Right Now.' That song gets me every time.
One of my favorite 80s songs!
”Bomb the bass - beat dis” is amazing song for reaction. Thanks Jayvee 👏🏻
Sooo many memories of better times, awesome music, and an easier life.
Sammy Hagar has a great rock voice. You must do Dreams from this line up too. It's my favourite
I have always loved this!! When It's Love is great!!
Watch the Van Halen concert called Right Here Right Now. It was filmed in 1992 at Selland Arena in Fresno CA. I was fortunate to have been there. One of the best shows ever!
This was a ko0l song! Wow, him scattin/singing with the guitar/piano... awesome! 🙌
I'll listen to any Van Halen song as long as Eddie plays. He's the BEST EVER!!! R.I.P. Eddie
First hit from the new Van Hagar album, summer of 1986! It was so exciting and sad that old VH was done. Huge hit at 15 years old driving to school (being driven really) Ha. listening to new VH! Oh, and first number one hit from Van Halen ever. ..was with Sammy! \m/
When it's love, I can't stop loving you, don't tell me what love can do are other great songs by Van Halen
Yes!!! "Don't Tell Me" is one of the best VH songs ever! Long version please, with the extended guitar solos!
David was a great entertainer and Sammy was a great rock vocalist.
David was full of himself. It was sickening after while. Don't get me wrong, DLR was hangar with Ice Cream Man and all their earlier stuff. Sammy just ramped it up.
Definitely one of my favorite Van Halen song. Goes well with Hagar’s voice.
I remember in 1986 thinking this song was on the Top Gun soundtrack and when realizing it wasn't, deciding it should be.
Sammy Hagar stepped up and kept Van Halen alive after Dave's departure. Tough shoes to fill, and he brought it!!!! You should totally react to his solo work. Three Lock Box is a great song to start with.
Sammy is definetely my favorite VH vocalist! Eddie as always slays, made the son unique!
And your 80s streak continues-much thanx for your reax and sharing your enthusiasm/singing to the music of my youth👍🏼
This is one of if not my favorite songs of all time. So much that I made the opening synth part my ringtone. Subscribed
Well done. Best VH song ever . Lovely singing by the way.
this is one of my favorites of theirs.
Oh man mR JAYvee... You got the moves and smile and everything when listening on old but golden Van Halen. Nice:P
One of my favorite 'Van Hagar' songs. First release when Sammy joined the band. Just a great rock song w great lyrics. 10/10.
This was an awesome song. I agree. God bless you!
I was a senior in high school when this was released. Lots of great memories with this song.
Loved Diamond Dave and loved Sammy Hagar too.
Saw Sammy a few years back, 70y old rockin out still, Mark Anthony was on bass touring with him, or was a great night, total fun!!
Try "Right Now" I love that one. 🔥❤👍🏽
Awesome band and awesome song! Love it!❤️
Its so melodic and catchy!
Here in St.Louis they worship Hagar, like kinda sorta weird infatuation with him, I guess KSHE did that in the day, really kinda adopted the dude.
You have the best reactions, you always make me smile 🥰💕 love and peace ❤️
Good one is best of both worlds!
I'm recommending for your next Reaction Hot For Teacher, [Oh] Pretty Woman, Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love, Can't Stop Lovin' You, Dance The Night Away, Dreams, Where Have All the Good Times Gone! By Van Halen
Van Halen sounds all differ, but you cannot deny they are all memorable.
Van Halen with Sammy sounded better but David Lee Roth sure was an entertaining showman.
Diamond Dave was a better showman but overall i'll take Van Hagar
Pound Cake is a classic too!!!
Big 80's was BANGIN' !!!
Great song, Sammy sure can sing. Thanks for the tune.
I love both eras of Van Halen. Grateful they found Sammy.
Dreams, and Love Walks In are 2 great songs from the Sammy Hagar Van Halen era.
Best Van Halen!! Rock it Sammy!!
I like ALL versions of Van Halen (and yes, that includes the Gary Cherone version).
But the cool thing about Sammy is that he could sing AND play guitar, which expanded Eddie's options during a live performance like this.

This was not live sound tho

Love Van Halen with Sammy!! Please check out Dreams and When It’s Love

SHE is an amazing independent artist. Rediculously beautiful & talented....
Go in blind if you don't know her....

"Love Walks In" is the best Van Hagar song!
Another great Van Halen riff to check out is fire in the hole done with lead singer Gary Cherone.
I always said that if you combined David's showmanship and Sammy's vocals you'd have the perfect front man.
Another one good song of VH with Sammy Hagar is "Can't stop lovin' you", from Balance album, "When it's love" from OU812 album. And one more song from Sammy Hagar is Winner takes it all (Soundtrack to Over the top)
"Tattoo" is a fun song by Van Halen. I think you'd love it ☺

THANKS JAYVEETV!
Apocalyptica 'Hope Vol II' gotta listen to this gem
Love me some Van Hagar
I love the Sammy Hagar version of Van Halen more than the David Lee Roth version. I went to this concert.
So many people hate on the Sammy era. I love it, personally. Prefer his voice, by far. And loved the vibe. Edited 2 min later... huh huh you said, "I don't rmbr his voice sounding this good". No, coz that wasn't Sammy, before. I love it! 😄👍
This is one my favorites with Sammy 💜
I enjoyed Van Halen David Lee Roth era and I loved Van Halen Sammy Hagar era just as much. Some iconic songs from both of this era.
Love this song! You should check out their song Dreams.
Well now of course you must listen to I Can't Drive 55.
Masterpiece
Rock 'n Roll Van Halen style 🎸
Forget to say Sammy had a great solo hit Can't drive 55!
Check out Dreams, a personal fav from the Hagar era.

Sammy Hagar absolutely killed it on this song! Huge fan of Van Halen! 🤘🏽
You should really be one of the first to react to Eddie Van Halen's son, Mammoth WVH, "Don't Back Down".
This is one of my favorite VH songs. The 51/50 album was one of the best VH albums with Sammy Hagar. I loved this version of VH the best.
