Thokazo 🙏🙏🙏 This is such an important message. I was studying a mentorship "under" izangoma last year and even though it wasn't even ukutwasa, it had similar problems to what you describe... there was a huge power imbalance and I felt compelled to do everything that my teachers were telling me to do, including spending money I didn't have on healing sessions I didn't ask for and imphepho which never arrived... :( When I objected or tried to set boundaries, I was chastised like a child....
I have significant childhood trauma and I am trained in mental health, so when I saw the signs of my trauma resurfacing due to parental-like attachments, with potential for abuse, I ended the mentorship.
As you mentioned, there is lessons for all of us when these things happen... I did fall prey to this due to my own need for approval, and the whole thing gave me a chance to do deeper healing, so I am grateful in the end. Thokazo!

Thokoza Gogo does Sangoma recognize when one comes to them to initiate as Sangoma really needs to train as a royal traditional healer and then refer them to where they will get the proper help/training thus shows that they are operating under the guidance of the ancestors than their on greed
