I've learned so much from Suzie. No one on RUclips is this thorough, knowledgeable, and pleasant to learn from. She's like my nail mom lol! She's helped me fall in love with nails and this spring I'm starting my nail tech program! 😍
These are the prettiest nails that I have seen in a long time. I never knew you could just put acrylic over your own nails to strengthen them. Will definitely be trying this technique.
I love this video! I’ve had many clients tell me that they’ve gone to salons before asking for overlays and the nail technician has told them that’s too short and they can’t do that. Gotta have that love for short nails!
I always knew it was BS when they would tell me it was too short. That's what made me get into doing my own nails and it's about to be 4 years learning how to do my own and it's amazing because I always get what I want. Now I have the whole nail salon at home.
i was a nail biter when i was younger and the salons almost every time would try to discourage me from getting tips on because my nails were short. when they would do the tips, i didn’t like them long (just a little over my fingertip) and they would say i’m asking for them too short 😅🤦🏼♀️
Watching Suzie’s videos are a way I ease my anxiety! Any time I’m feeling stressed and overwhelmed in my life, I pop onto Suzie’s channel to learn a little about nails while I relax...it’s soo soothing to watch her do nails. One day I’ll attempt to do my own!
Suzie, I have watched your videos for years, I love them and continue to learn so much. I love how you are enthusiastic and patiently explain all aspects of your craft. ❤❤❤
This is such am approachable technique! No forms, no extra length, no worrying about an apex...just extra strength and pretty, pretty nails. Plus, a chance to 'practice' filing with what feels like less at stake! Thank you!!
Literally just did this with my kiss salon dip kit. Just put two thin layers to thicken and strengthen my very thin nails. It’s the best! Throw a gel polish on top and bam! Indestructible! 🤣
This reminded me of how I had someone I knew that became a nail tech judge my short acrylics, but I couldn't have them long at work because they would just break, and I needed to keep my natural nails from breaking all the time. There is in fact a point to short acrylics, so thank you Suzie!
WHOA! Suzie, get outta my head! 😲🤣Did you watch me attempt exactly _this_ last night & give up halfway through? How did you know I NEEDED this video? Scray. Oh, due to watching your channel, I ran out a picked up a real hair brush. What an absolute game changer! Thank you for all the tips & tricks. 💕😁
How is it that you post this five minutes after I've spent an hour searching on the internet in regards to this exact topic?! :o Looking stunning, as always xxx
These are so beautiful. I love all of your videos and different styles! But I love a good short, clean, beautiful nail! Thank you for showing this! Not only can people learn, but your videos are just so enjoyable to watch! ❤️
Thank you, Suzie and cameraman! You are the queen of all things nail-related! I just bought a container of your monomer yesterday and I appreciate how fast you shipped it out; same day!❤
Gosh...this video is very much appreciated. I would love to see tutorials on short nail designs. THIS IS A PROFESSIONAL 😊 VERY REFRESHING TO SEE THIS VIDEO I really love this..thank you for sharing.
I really love how thoroughly you explain everything. It’s so helpful! I truly learn so much from you! I do my own dip at home and I apply your tips for acrylic to my dip and just tweak as I need. And it’s wonderful. I’ve been doing it for 4 years now, but I’ve improved so so so much since I started watching your videos.
Suzie, I started watching your videos about two years ago and this right here is EXACTLY what i did with what I learned at first! Just protecting my nails and letting them grow out on their own. The way you explain how to file and show every step along the way (removing excess monomer on a paper towel, showing the bruh as you dip it into monomer, what the bead looks like in consistency and how it moves when its ratio is correct etc) really taught me so much and I can now complete longer nails on my own! Thank you for posting videos like this because I think this is exactly what so many at-home manicurists really wanted to do when they began ^^
I just got my first full set this weekend and it was an overlay over my natural nails! 💅🏽 I want to let my nails grow out and wear my own length without breaking. Thank you for this video!
I am such a big fan of you and your work and I want to thank you for me becoming the self thought nail tech I am today. I Learnt everything I know from you whi inspired me to become a nail tech I love your work PERIODT.... Again thank you so much
Thanks to my years of watching Suzie, I’m able to repair my own nails with acrylic. My nails are pretty strong but every once in a while I get a chip or like recently my nail bent and left a weak spot. Fixed it up and it looks normal again! Or sometimes one breaks below the end of my nail bed (owwwww) and I can make myself a sculpted replacement.
I needed a good Suzie video today! I can always count on you and Cameraman for a smile and fun, useful information! Love you guys! 💗 Hope your upcoming weekend is a great one!
I love your videos you really makes sure we understand everything!!! I have to say, dip powder when you are not very good with a brush can do the job. Personally I do prefer acrylic because, for me, it's easyer to do the layers.
I just love your videos. I just recently started watching you and I've learned soooo much from you. You even answered questions that I have thought about but never asked. You're very thorough with your information and fully explain everything you talk about. All the mistakes I have made you have discussed and explained. I just love your videos.😊
Funny timing! Just finished doing a polygel overlay on me itty bitty short nails. I used to do this with acrylic as a teen; a friend of mine who was going to cosmetology school used to practice on me and taught me how. Hope you're doing well today
You know what else works JUST LIKE THIS as far as the strength, protection, look, and feel of acrylic: rubber base coat! And it's like pushing the easy button!😍 I went to someone else to "treat myself" to a Russian/Dry Manicure instead of doing it myself, but the tech was NOWHERE NEAR as skilled/practiced as he led me to believe, or even as good as me; when it was first done, it looked okay-ish, but my fingers (nail beds), were sore, and once I had the smallest amount of grow out, I realized that he had gouged through almost every layer of my natural nail near the cuticles. Obviously I HAD to do something! I had ordered the rubber base coat for when I did gel extensions, and I decided to apply a few layers of it over the busted parts to bring them back even again, then coat the entire nail once to achieve a uniform look. It's still on and holding strong and makes my nails look very natural and healthy. The only thing I would have changed about my application, is that I didn't realize that it was going to harden and seem identical to acrylic, therefore I should have filed and smoothed out all the way around the cuticles and side walls. But to anyone who ever has damaged nails or got a little too e-file happy: rubber base coat will be your best friend! Just treat it like any other extension method and be sure to smooth out those cuticles!💖
I use clear powder for dipping my nails very similarly! Watching you means that my latest set are three days old and have only lifted in one place, which is a VAST emprovement. Thanks for your teachings!
Omfg thank you!!! I hate long nails but love the smooth perfect look of acrylic and anytime ive gone to a salon theyve charged me extra for doing what you're showing. Ive always backed out and never had it done because of the price so this is amazing!!
Where I live they charge the same as they would if they'd had applied a tip its mental only time they've over charged me was when I asked for gel and they had literally just used acrylic and tried to make out it was gel when gel doesn't come as a powder and liquid lmao
Yay! That's exactly what I ask for - long nails are nice but I cannot handle them all the time. I do want however the shape and strength from acrylic ;)
Thank you Suzie! My nails, even years after chemotherapy, are very brittle. Acrylic intimidates me but now I’m ready to hop over to your store and try this ❤️!
I just love everything about her, the voice, how she explains, the tricks - everything! How much time does it take for a simple application? I mean on yourself vs client?
I'm starting an Aviation Technician program at college this fall! My family got me the starter kit for my birthday so I could do this type of nail so my hands will stay even more protected 💜
Love your slow setting monomer ! I did a gelly tip set w a modelones powder and I loveeeee how they turned out ! Can’t wait to purchase the rest of your products. You’ve taught me so much !
This is great! I used to do gel overlays (I’m now using polygel) since my nails are naturally so thin and brittle but fell out of habit, and now I can’t have long nails now because I’m taking care of my disabled dad and long nails will not only hurt him but will be impractical. My sister is the same, but she hates long nails because she uses the keyboard for her work a lot and it bothers her. She asked me to do her nails, so an overlay would be perfect and I’ll try to do them as thin as you did here but with polygel since I don’t have any acrylics right now with me and you mentioned it’s possible with other products. Thank you so much for the master class!
I have such weak nails that the moment they get to a nice length, they start to bend and break. I had often wondered if I could strengthen them with a thin layer of acrylic and here you are, saving the day with the info I needed! Time to break out my acrylic kit.
As I get more into nails I’m starting to like the short styles! During a party on Halloween I fell and my whole pinky nail ripped off from under the cuticle because I had really long nails on don’t worry it’s already growing back. But I only did long ones for Halloween and before that I’ve been doing shorter ones and love it! And I’ve been falling in love with French!!
OUCH! I hear you on that! I'm also glad to hear that you're healing, im sure most of the way now 🙂. I used to wear mine super long also. Until I hit one on a table or door (can't remember) and that sucker ripped off to right above my cuticle! 😳😵💫😵🤬🤬🤬. That pain was worse than I had when I was having my daughter 🤯!
I'm a licensed cosmetologist but haven't done many nails other than my own over the many years I've been licensed. As a male with very thin an sensitive nails this is great for who doesn’t want long nails!
You're not alone brother! :)
Also for people with things like psoriasis who get nail pitting - this or dip or even a natural tone gel polish can really help smooth things out.
