- With this video, I introduce myself to the vinyl community and offer a tour of my San Francisco apartment including the "record room" and some of the vintage stereos I currently have set up.

Very impressive. You brought back some cool memories for me. So many of these items were in my youth, I enjoyed the whole tour...my fave is the two TVs, those are awesome!
Now THAT is living my friend!!! I just love a home/space that really expresses the owner's personality and in so many cases grasping the childhood they wish they had lol. We spend so much time in "our homes" over our lifetimes that I believe you should make them a place that really makes you SMILE every time you wake up in it or return to it.

You never know what treasures occupy the homes you pass. That was a fun peak at your cache
You and I are very much alike in that your place is as full as mine with many of the same-themed collectibles, vinyl (8,000 lps and 2000 CDs), toys, signs, mid-century, et al. I knew there were others out there.

Awesome place. But being an accordionist myself, seeing the black accordion case at 2:40, then seeing the pearl keys of an accordion at 4:35 is an automatic thumbs up from me. 👍

Incredible room, that’s a great deep soul track at the end by Judy White. I’ve got all the Dave Godon’s ‘Deep Soul Treasures’ series on vinyl..which is just packed with killers.

We have a similar collection (numbers-wise) and there are cubes all over our tiny SF flat. I've been scared to put more cubes on top of our two 4x2s -- did you anchor anything in the wall? Magic voodoo? Crossed-fingers and a prayer?
I used to know a guy that had a huge collection of 45's -- he and his better half moved to Hawaii. The best part, he said, was being able to afford a house where they were not surrounded by records where he was sleeping, always hoping the 'big one' wouldn't hit. (Although if you gotta go, killed by your own 45s sounds okay, as far as such things go.)
Anyway, thank you for the walk through, and happy hunting (I assume you are around Hayes and Fillmore from time to time, at least on Saturday).

What brand of crates are you using to store your CDs
These are wine boxes of various sizes - measured to make sure CDs would fit.
My vinyl collection is tiny compared to yours Under 500.00 at this point! A lot for an apt? My main thing is progressive rock aside from vinyl i also collect Cds,Dvds. Some of the bands i like go from Amon Dull,,Gong,Hawkwind, King crimson,yes..Etc. I notice You had a fillmore Jefferson Airplane poster so you apparently like psych? I also colllect Vintage audio peices mainly from the likes of Harman kardon an Denon. If youre in the North Bay ( Novato) Should check out Watts music Down Grant av a nice Music store! Darren a cool guy who runs Watts....By the way Do you collect Folk? Phil ochs ,Richard Thompson I luv them as well? Happy Hunting!..
Watts Music is great - I've picked up some nice records there. Really like prog, psych, folk. Saw Richard Thompson a few years ago at the Great American Music Hall - fantastic show. Collecting is a long journey - enjoy it, and thank you for the comment!

the wood cases for the cds look really nice. what kind are they?
These are wine crates which I measured before buying to make sure two rows of CDs would fit vertically (the sizes vary). I got some at a flea market and some on craigslist. Thank you for the comment!

Never stack vinyl up to the ceiling that high especially living in California. Bad for your health. I myself use real wood book storage cases for all my cds (over 2k). But my vinyl collection (over 3500) I myself build my own room dividers. If you like to know what room dividers are give me a holler - thanks (from 976-CREOLEMAN).
That is not a record room, its a vinyl room, btw vinyl sucks, CD is superior to vinyl
