2 bad drives that hit the fairway determined the winner here. I play the Stealth 2 and happy to see it move on, but it seems weird that missing the grid is less penalizing than a miss that stays in. Should definitely take another look at scoring these things.
Wonder if for next year's challenge the penalties should cost more? Interesting that missing the grid is less detrimental to the overall score than just catching the edge of it
yea the whole "phew it was a penalty, saved it" should have an effect to the overall rating. cause the callaway def did better than the taylormade
Feels like these two were so good that there needs to be a consolation bracket where we could potentially see Callaway work its way back on the "backside" of the bracket back into a rematch for the championship!

I was going to say the same thing. It also helps eliminate a subtle bad day or bad set for a specific driver.

I'm a big fan of the bracket, but this year the driver is being punished for keeping the ball in play on a bad swing. Seems like we've got some wires crossed somewhere.
Yeah. Penalties need to be worse. You shouldn't be cheering for a ball to be so offline that it goes out of the grid.
Yeah I was kind of thinking maybe the -1 if it's just in the light rough on the edge of the modeled fairway and if it's any farther than that it's like-3 to -5

I think the fact that we're cheering for balls to get out the grid means we've gone wrong somewhere in the points tally. Penalties need to be more severe.

Wonder Twins in presents...sharp colors gents. Great performance by both clubs. I still prefer the Paradym or the Stealth2 on looks and sound. Be that as it may....well done TM.
Hoping a bad shot goes out of the grid to "save it", surely means the penalty of hitting it out of the grid is too low. Nevertheless, I love the series, but next time, perhaps an adjustment to the ranking system in play is worth considering.

The Callaway looked like it would be a much better gamer than the Taylormade.
Why? He was more accurate and consistent with the Stealth
Not really, the shots that went out were deducted a point and not counted by distance or yards offline. Tm had three of those where Callaway had 2. The one stinky 280 drive from Callaway is what did it.
@@Citizensofthecountry There is more to accuracy than just what goes out. CW seemed to be more off line more often and have more of a two way miss.

Feels like the Callaway lost because its two worst drives stayed in rather than going out. Much better with this loft setting however. I feel that some of the other drivers in earlier groups would have really benefited from this decision
PLEASE if you are spending 500 to 600 dollars on a driver GO GET FITTED. Do not let anyone online, with some crazy made up head to head concept tell you what's the right driver for you. Your swing speed, launch angle, smash factor, draw/fade bias, your shaft weight and flex, all of this is SO SO SO much more important than anything shown in this video when it comes to you actually seeing results on the course. You wanna bang 330 bombs into a wall...cool, do whatever this is. You want to hit good golf shots, when it actually matters.. GO GET FITTED!

I thought the callaway had it for sure until that last set with the stealth. Great bracket episode!
my personal testing and having owned 430lst stealth plus 2 aerojet ls, and completely tested paradyme and triple diamond, srixon ls zx5. the aerojet ls is easily staying in the bag. aerojet as stable as ping but lower spin. stealth plus 2 never had a chance to erratic. paradym was decent didnt shine for me. srixon had the best chance feel and look but the shaft tested resulted in high very high fade in lowest setting. really needs a 9.0 head to start not 9.5...i could shoot well with the ping no doubt, but oddly i could never find a setting that matched my swing with several shafts. with the aerojet ls it has a open face and sets up well for me.

I may be misremembering, but wasn't the Ping v Mizuno at 9/9.5 degrees? These are at 10.5 and it seems to be producing some better launch numbers. How do you guys decide on the loft?

Maybe a change to the bracket next year so that we don't lose a heavy weight is to conduct a round robin first round where all the drivers are hit and then ranked 1-x number of drivers. And from there you take the top 8 and go from there. Just a thought. Because I would be thought these two woulve matched up in the final round.

2-3 shots with each club (randomly selected) on the same day, repeated on 3 separate days. All compared at the end, with fewer shots may place more emphasis on consistency
I know that no method is perfect but I feel like penalties should be more consequential. Only -1 off the score when a badly errant shot in real life could cost you 2 strokes doesn't seem to correlate.
This may as well have been the final with those scores

What a strange thing to do. The triple diamond and and the TSR2 are not even the same type of driver. The tripe diamond is much more comparable to the TSR3 and TSR4
@@ben1ben2ben1 It's why I was frustrated. TSR2 head is good enough. Did like 4 or 5 fittings, just searching. Ventus TR black was one constant, worked with any head I hit. Just bought one w/ Titleist adapter and voilà

Well it comes down to him using a different loft than the previous drivers. The TSR is the most popular driver in the world with PGA players (sponsored and un sponsored) and pros BY FAR for a reason

What causes Matt’s launch to be sub 10 - dynamic loft? How would you go about increasing launch without increasing spin too much ?

Best part is this isn't the first time your shirts have matched.
I don't personally care for whatever this format is. A 1 point penalty for hitting the ball 50 yards offline, completely off the grid? That would be a full stroke on the course, not...oh well it would be 330 in the middle, nope 330 OB with a drop... that doesn't translate to the competitiveness of the product in its market. This seems like content creator foder more than product testing. And head to head....I don't know, this video creates more questions than answers them imho.

Seems like you had 2 with the Callaway that were just smothered and went nowhere but stayed in and that cost Callaway. Best for best- Callaway seemed longer but just those 2 were so short and Callaway still only lost by 2 yards. Need to have a consolidation bracket and have Callaway take on the eventual winner. Both of these seem to be the fastest and longest of all drivers, kinda bad luck they met in the first round. This seemed like a final rather than a 1st round.
Seems like missing the grid should be more penalized? 3 drives off the grid v 2 should be a bigger impact than it is 🤷♂️
I think you should consider a redo the other side of the bracket. No disrespect to Mike, but Matt’s energy level and swing are so much better with Ian.
Couldn’t have said it better. The club head speeds were much faster, which shouldn’t vary that much.

Yeah that short one from callaway killed it. But the way i see it callaway had one less ob. So that should count for something. Rehit that short one and taylormade would have lostt big time. I liked the ballflight from paradym better as well, better carry distance overall
