I was logging in the 70s northern California big trees. You remind me of me I loved cutting trees. Plus I always had a long bar 36 to 60 .I ran all the saws. Ben a husky man since the 70s. God speed and be safe.
Billy I just had 2 big ole maples and an ash dropped by pros and now I'll be bucking em up for awhile. I'm no stranger to a saw but I'm here to learn from your expertise. Thanks for sharing these and your positive attitude, it's contagious my friend
I try to think ahead of your next move to see if I can be on the right path… I am starting to get some of the technical and the reasons behind it. Really interesting to watch. Tks for this!
Just today I had a back leaning 75 ft aspen that had me hesitant. Watched one of your videos on backleaners, put it to the test and everything went perfect. Backcut, wedge, face cut and build confidence. Peace and thanks
I've always wanted to buy a 592 but didn't know anyone with one but after watching your last few videos about this saw has convinced me to put it on my Santa 🎅 list lol. Another great video 👌👌
I smiled inside when I saw you manual oiling the chain with the old SP81. It reminded me of cutting wood with my dad and our old craftsman saw when I was a kid.
Watching this new saw over the last few videos it looks like, on the viewing end,one of the stronger saws you have ever used on the channel. Impressive for sure. 👍👍
Learn by your mistakes and make a conscious effort to listen to your elders. Granted your free to do as you please but remember, they have a plethora of experience and common sense, so at least be respectful. Maybe you'll find out something about yourself you didn't realize.
Im a vintage saw newbie! I just recently picked up a 1-50 and in the hunt for a 10-10 and i 100% blame you! Its totally all your fault!!🤣🤣🤣 Thank you Buckin! Keep doin what you do! By the way im 52 and love hand splitting! Its never too late! In 2021 I weighed in at 350lbs today I am very different 250! Believe or not you were a part of that journey! Im not a arborist or a logger. Just a regular guy! Pipefitter/welder by trade. Again keep up the great work! Aways forward!
Come on Buckin we should all know who the problem is , unless we have no mirrors in our lives. thanks ! As usual your old Mac collection always seem to run like a modern saw and of course you're the past master of sharp ! There's allot to love about 2 strokes in all area's of the tree business.😀
I just picked up a 395. First time with a bigger saw than a 372. Interesting experience. I live on a 350m2 section in a city suburb and I've got rounds stacked to the moon , blasting saws. I blame buckin !
Ha!! Heck yeah!! Bringing back the bumble bees!! Love my Macs....and that 592 sounds like she is getting stronger from the last video of it 💪💪 thanks for sharing brother, much love to ya from the Barths🪓🪵🌳
Looks like the 592 is getting faster, not hitting the rev limiter. Crack is picking up a bit. I bet you it will really sing a song with a pipe on it. Stay strong 💪 and stay healthy ❤
Buckin, We meet @ the pual bunyan show & spoke about the husqvarna 952 XP at the time you were using husqvarna 72 . Hope you , family & ripsaw can make it again. Thank you for sharing your personal life & teaching the new generation. Sugar Dad Lol. 🙏🏽📸🪵🥾
Have I ever thought I'm the problem? Oh, daily. Grandma always told me I have a choice in life, be offended or escalate and become the offender. Anyway, now to watch the video.
My first saw was department store Maculloch PM210 from sears. It made good power I didn't hate it, unless I was trying to start it hot or even warm. Wish I didn't beat it to death with my maul, as today I now could likely fix its vapor lock issues. Though I love my 066 that is having its 26 birthday.
Husqvarna really does a good job with making strong Stock Saws straight out of the Box. They go the extra mile. Buckin they also know who can use them masterfully. Great job Falling, and Bucking the Trees. Welcome to the new Members.
Wow, I aint seen one of them Yellow monsters. Since I was a kid, cut a lot of firewood with my old dad using those he loved them Mccullough chainsaws. Anyway, my friend keep up the good work.If you ever get into arizona reach out, we'll give you a tour.
I think one 92 is worth holding, and probably essential. As it means that one doesn't have to beat the brakes off of one's collection of 72's. And the 62 is probably worth it, as it means you can rest your 72 also and pick it up for when it's needed. I've heard that in logging world that guys switch square ground chain as the day progresses. And just keep running the same saw, same hatchet etc (judging by how Bjorne and other loggers work they just keep their tools working as long as they can, like road trucking vehicles and put them in for service at so many miles on the clock). The closer that one gets to 'tree care' or tree management, it's less about switching out chain and keeping working. Time is even more short in tree care, and it can be advantageous just to pick up another tool, which already happens to have a tank of fuel ready and bar oil. And keep moving, keep chipping away at the job. As opposed to stopping to re-fuel, re-bar or re-chain and oil. Felling timber is different, as after one felling task is done it makes sense to insert a pause or break. Tree care is more about momentum and just keep making progress. And the troubling thing about those 80 to 90 cc tools, is they interrupt the flow as they need re-fuelling. Unless you're prepared to drop them and pick up.something else. I often think tree care and grounds care is more of a relay race. Tree felling can be more of a series of individual dash- or sprint- type races. All in one day.
At thirteen minutes, Billy talked about the bigger bottomed saws. There is no doubt, they are a different tool. All these saws are orange and look the same shape. But in reality these are completely different tools with different capabilities. I'd imagine that a teacher with a class of students to teach, is faced or confronted with that reality all of the time. And has to appreciate the same thing. People are not the same, saws as tools are different too.
Interesting that you talk about the larger saws bottom end torque - As much as we can squeeze out of the smaller saws hp wise and cut for cut you really cannot get the same torque from them try as we might … The piston is just sooooo much larger on the 592xp vs a 562 or 572. We are all awaiting the 592xp Piper
This is the Buckin I enjoy... the walking commercial Buckin holds no interest to me!!! Let me see ya runnin' ol MAC'S and swinging ol axe all day every day that's the content I subscribed you for.
The 592 is a strato engine design with gen 3 autotune. But there’s no replacement for displacement, and you have to match the saw to the wood. A 562xp would outrun a 395xp in small wood. A 572xp could outrun a 395xp in medium wood. And a 592xp will edge out a 395xp in large-ish wood. But at some point the wood will get big enough that a 395xp will outrun all of them. It just has more grunt, (torque) and more potential to port/modify for gains. The 592xp 92.7cc 5.6kW is nice, but at almost 60yo that 7.4kg for the (bare engine only) gets heavy to swing around.
you ever wear any of the filson clothing. The tin cloth line made for loggers back in bear claw days probably. But they still make it, expensive but if works good not a bad thing. Great videos as always
HI BUCKIN 😊😊 the big chainsaws 9O CC and bigger they have the pulling power even the other old school saws they didn't have many RPMS they would pull in the big they pull like a tractor 🚜 😊 U can feel that they pull your arms 😊😊 OMG 8 28 2O24
I have been 99% of the problem the majority of my life what's kind of neat is as I get older I just start to realize it more and more, that's where the real fun begins
The way the filing of a good sharp chain being so overlooked is like having 4 flat mud tires on a 2024 corvette and wondering why it's not running right. Harvey even said it " A good sharp chain make up for all the porting you could do." After practicing what bucking preaches and putting in the time on the chain, I totally see that "ITS ALL IN THE FILLING!" You can take any Modern new tech chainsaws with all that ported and polished fufu up against Bucking with a vintage stock saw of equal power and he will smoke you every time.
Hey Buckin can you talk about why you cut firewood from logs that appear to be millable for lumber? Less than a log load? grade not evident? something else?
I imagine this question has been asked before but, How do you prep your saws if they will not be used for month's? What do you do to compensate for today's gasoline?
the sound of the new saws outta the box is one thing thats bad, that super pro 81 sounds like a song on the opera in my ears then new outta the box sounds strange
McCulloch being that finicky for plenty of people, proves how obsolete of a saw it is. Never ran one, but as I have seen on a lot of videos, the hype is more tied to fond memories, not to actual, provable performance when compared to a modern Echo, Husqvarna, or Stihl. Notice how Buckin’ stopped using it? The 395xp/592xp is levels better than that McCulloch, let’s not kid ourselves. Just like a car from the 1920s can’t compete with a modern car, the same applies to chainsaws. It’s mostly nostalgia.

Great seeing you here
Well put.
Thank you sweet Granny.
You are or were a gem, I’m sure.

Love ya Buckin. Be Kind, Be Honest, Love and Graditude you’re the best !
Coming to Paul Bunyan. To meet you. Watch out Wendy.
I smiled inside when I saw you manual oiling the chain with the old SP81. It reminded me of cutting wood with my dad and our old craftsman saw when I was a kid.
the ol’ SP81 made my day seeing you run her again, thank you buckin’. Love ya brother! Thank you for goin back to the roots 💪
Happy to see you use the old girl, too! I love the sound of the sp81 :) i got a little broken one not so long ago and i am now rebuilding it :)
Watching this new saw over the last few videos it looks like, on the viewing end,one of the stronger saws you have ever used on the channel. Impressive for sure. 👍👍
It’s a big motor for sure

Buckin, Hope you dad is feeling good today and is watching you run that old McCulloch. That old saw has an appetite for wood.
You bet

Hi Buckin
Impressive old school power saw ❤
It's either soft wood or chain really cuts great on McCulloch. Lovely video. Dorin
A lil of both, you know Ray can make his saws cut😉
Ha!! Heck yeah!! Bringing back the bumble bees!! Love my Macs....and that 592 sounds like she is getting stronger from the last video of it 💪💪 thanks for sharing brother, much love to ya from the Barths🪓🪵🌳

I love seeing the old saws out 👍🏻❤️

I have tools that out put positive and negative pressures. 😉 😜
I have my dad's 10-10 he had since I was a punk back in the early 70's. Sometimes it runs out nice and sometimes it won't. Nice video
Right on
This chainsaw sounds so good!
Hi buckin nice time for a vid. Love and all our thoughts to you and your dad ❤
Thanks so much
I just love your trade!
Dropping more knowledge today.
Glad to hear it!

I haven't just thought that I am my problem, I know it! Thanks for the reminder brother.
Always good to look at our part
The 592 limbs and bucks nicely … no issue with the 4-stroking like the stock 500i
Different power delivery for sure . Actually a very useable machine
Getting down and dirty with a rip snortin old Mac BBR style. Gotta love it 💪

Man I'm the problem. Thanks for the insight partner
Onya Buckin.
All the best to everyone.
Gotta love a super pro 81
We've got bangin' shrimp on offer at the pub and we've got bangin' Buckin' on the leaner!
Looks like a fun day brother
It amazes me on how easy he makes it look cutting up a tree. He could drink a water while he was cutting .
I have a saw that I love bc all my guys struggle starting it and never want to use it 😂

Bro i didnt get sober until i realized i was the problem lol
Yip
I got caught! Part two, just like on the old TV! 😂
Love a 592. But the 12,500 rev limit sucks for limbing
Yea, the daylight hours are getting shorter, burning season is right around the corner. Gotta do my yearly chimney clean in the next week or two🏠🌳
a have been around old engines very mutch.its funny you can have 2 engines with exaktly same setup and they start and runs different.
AHWOOOO 👍 GET ONE ❤
Bending the knees and keeping the back upright ..am learning.
Fine print said “please don’t put a Stihl bar on this buckin”

Power power power...Nice saws..
18:14 I am really interested to see this bang over - like 1st time I got a real attention getter gosh I hope it finishes out and I get to see it.
I have been 99% of the problem the majority of my life
what's kind of neat is as I get older I just start to realize it more and more, that's where the real fun begins
The old saying goes with engines... there's no replacement for displacement. That's why the 592 feels so strong in the hands bone stock...
Nice 😊 🤠🤙🤙💪💯💯

Interested for the next update as I'm having nearly similar size yellow pine leaning hardly to the left side.
Hey Buckin can you talk about why you cut firewood from logs that appear to be millable for lumber? Less than a log load? grade not evident? something else?
be kind
There the most hated saw in Ireland Pioneer Stihl Dolmar and the old Homelite a lot of the older fella's wouldn't sale them
I just picked up a 10 10 off ebay, was a regular mess, people dont relize the money it takes to get them back to dailies
I imagine this question has been asked before but, How do you prep your saws if they will not be used for month's? What do you do to compensate for today's gasoline?
😊👍
New subscriber here. Great vids. Can you give me a link for those mesh safety glasses. Thanks buddy for your time
😮👍👍👍
i have a saw that will start second pull every time
Know your equipment and treat it the way you would want to be handled.
Mine run fine
Where can i buy a flat file like you use i want to get into square grind filing and cant file any files anywhere

the sound of the new saws outta the box is one thing thats bad, that super pro 81 sounds like a song on the opera in my ears then new outta the box sounds strange
