      The worst thing is overstuffing the Bio Container, so that the lid can't get closed anymore. This attracts rats to the premises.

      My best friend was "interrupted" by an old lady the other day. He was putting his biomüll into the container and, like you should - and he always does, he emptied the plastic bag and threw the bag into the plastics container. The lady saw it and was soo pleased that she just had to tell him how much she appreciated it. ☺ Imagine, a german being so happy that one feels the need to interrupt a stranger and talk to them. 😅 I thought it was just very sweet. And my friend (who is very awkward around people) was quite amused by it.

      ooh I hate that so so much. I get so angry when I see a plastic bag with dogpoo in it, just laying somewhere on the ground. I mean, why put it in a bag then anyway? if you're in nature, just better leave the poo on the ground, in the gras or something, where it'll just naturally decompose or put it in a bag and throw it in a bin, but why hurt the environment by leaving the plastic on the ground?!?!?! 🤬 (oh and yes, I'm German^^)

      @FireSignd 4 года назад +2

      @@sheliak4576 Problem is, u can't overtake on the right since most German ppl drive moderately slow there. So you're forced to drive slow on a Autobahn without speed limit because some idiot doesn't know the unwritten rules on German Autobahnen. those rules are not unwritten. it is the law that you have to drive on the right lane when you're not overtaking anything.

    • @windhelmguard5295
      @windhelmguard5295 5 лет назад +4

      the funny thing about all that is that separating your trash is pretty pointless in germany.
      all the separate bins are collected by the same cars and then thrown onto the same pile before it all goes into the sorting machine. the only reason why we separate garbage is because of a law that states that stores have to dispose of packing material for free, which lead to the invention of the yellow bin or sack as well as the green dot. the yellow bin is where everything that has the green dot goes and nothing else, regardless of what it's made off. this is to ensure that you are not paying for getting rid of packing material.
      i have seen so many people who separate garbage wrong too, here is how it goes: does it have a green dot? if yes it goes in the yellow bin, if no then is it made of paper or cardboard? if yes it goes in the blue bin, if not it's hausmüll. any separating you do beyond that is pointless.

It is illegal to leave dog poo anywhere in a public space, so owners bring little bags with them when they take their dog for a walk (& we also have free dog clean up bags at most parks & beaches, with a bin next to it). If only everyone thought of how things affect other ppl & act with respect life would be so much easier.

    Summarizing, it is the disregard for your civic duties and contempt for the rights of others that make people mad. German communities are usually highly organized with shared duties, roles and responsibilities. This is what makes them function so well under normal conditions. You noticed yourself that people are looking for each other and are taking care of lost gloves or stuff on the pavement. Not all of the motivation to do so is altruistic, though, there is also a part in us that makes us love to control and correct others. In exaggeration you could call it policing each others. This feature of German togetherness fades to some extent in bigger cities, where anonomity prevents sharing of responsibilities and then you see us being the hogs just as everyone else.

Since there was no on coming traffic from both directions we foolishly decided to cross anyway and when we did the girl got very furious at us shouting "do you have tomatoes for eyes?" When mobile phones came up, people would be embarassed when they went off and left the room as quickly as possible. But today people have no shame anymore. I consider it molesting all the others when they have to listen to a "convo" when they do NOT want to. I put "convo" in quotes because it's often some monologue like "ya ... hmmm ... no ... oh ya ... no ... I dunno ... maybe ... yes ... really? ... no ... no ... why? ... ah ... aha ... ya ... " and so on. --> BANG-BANG-BANG !!!

    I love the little German/Austrian type house in the background.
    All of these annoyances also apply here in Vienna, Austria; where I have lived now for 12 years. Here are a few things that also annoy Austrians:
    1) Eating on the public transportation system. Definitely in the subways, since it is posted that it is not permitted.
    2) Bringing your dog onto the public transportation without having a "Beißkorb" (muzzle) on the dog. This is also a law.
    3) Dumping special litter into the litter bins. There are special areas where such things like computers, cooking grease, electronics, paint, aerosol cans, etc. go.
    4) Having loud conversations or talking loudly on the public transportation.
    5) People wearing heavily loaded backpacks on a crowded public transport.
    6) People refusing to give up the seats reserved for handicapped/elderly/women with babies. This is very rude when a person who is clearly not handicapped is taking up that reserved seat, and causes one who needs it to find another place to sit. I once was once accosted by a middle-aged foreigner who angrily slapped my shoulder when I asked if I could sit in the place where he was sitting (reserved). It is normal and even announced on the loudspeakers that you might need to give up your seat for someone needing it. I walk with a crutch, so I find it very annoying when I enter a crowded tram to see a teen or someone who does not need that seat, and refuses to offer that seat to me. However, I do find it especially pleasing when I need to stand, the reserved seats are already taken, and someone offers their seat to me.
    7) Standing in front of the doors of the public transports so that people cannot exit easily.
    8) People rushing to get into the elevators who could easily take the stairs or the escalators, making women with baby trolleys, wheelchairs and other handicapped people waiting for the next available elevator.
    9) Smokers who toss their cigarette butts on the ground. We have special receptacles for that.
    10) People who leave their trash sitting on benches, the ground, or elsewhere for someone else to throw away. I love it that Austria is such a clean country. We like to keep it that way. We have litter boxes everywhere, so there is no excuse for being untidy.
    11) Having a beggar approach you in the public transports, asking for money. Sometimes such people will play musical instruments while begging, which is an additional annoyance.
    That should do it for now, though there may be more, I am sure. :-)

      Some bike Lanes are shared with pedestrians, and as such unsuitable for racing bikes, many are in disrepair, many end without a logical continuation, many have sudden twists and turns, slightly too high curbs at road crossings, some turn to gravel without notice. Lots of reasons why racing bikers in particular prefer to use the highway. On sparsely travelled roads this shouldn't be a problem, and why they choose busy roads, God only knows.

    What you can put in the "Resttonne" can be different too. So I m German and I had to learn this too and I still have problems remembering what goes in the right bin. And I have a feeling it changes sometimes.

    I thought that German's were direct? Why doesn't anyone say something to the woman who is not separating her rubbish? Why isn't anyone telling people to stop talking loudly on their mobile phones?
    As for bike lanes, Germans also get really upset if people walk in the bike lanes and bike on the sidewalks. I've seen that one in action in Berlin.

      Some germans would, but it's also a different kind of being 'direct'.
      We may seem 'direct' as germans cause e.g. we won't chat you up with small talk if we simply want your help for something, we just ask.
      But in situations like the neighbour it's also possible nobody complains for years, cause we want to keep the relative peace of living together ^^

    I would think the worst thing a _foreigner_ could do in Germany, is refer to WWII in any simplistic, jokey, or flippant way. In fact, in any way _at all_ (unless in the context of serious historical or sociological research, or else shared military interests such as the weapons of the era.) Cuz whatever a foreigner's level of historical understanding, they can never fully understand the relationship that their history has to a modern German or to their national identity. For an outsider to make casual outsider references to it is _never_ welcome - or positive in any way.

    • @rowennightfall1369
      @rowennightfall1369 4 года назад

      Without explicit tempolimit, 130 km/h is a guideline. If you go a lot faster and have an accident you insurant may not cover all the cost and give you part of the blame. But we have the rule to drive on the right lane if it's free so that you're not blocking the left lane for faster cars. 120 km/h is totally fine on the right lane, which is designated for slower vehicles and trucks, but people will really hate and flash you with their lights if you stick on the left lane for no obvious reason since they aren't allowed to bypass you on the right lane. As long as there is no sign giving a limit you can go as fast as you want to, if your car is able to drive 240 km/h, you're allowed to do so as long as you are no risk to others.
      We germans love our Autobahn.😂

It does not seem to matter to them that in many communities and towns it is the duty of local residents to keep these roads clean. Not to mention dog owners who don´t care if their dog is doing it´s "business" on a private property .

    we have that dog poop issue in Austria as well...and at high frequented dog places there were installed special stands where you can get poop-bags with the sign saying
    "Das Sackerl für das Gackerl" ..
    "Sackerl" means "little bag" and "Gackerl" means "little shit/little poop"..
    and we make always fun about that a bit awkward sounding reminder phrase
    Germans would call poop "Kacke" but in Austria "K" sounds are way softer pronounced so it is spelled "Gacke" here
    and the ending "-erl" (but pronounced like "-al" in Austria) is the equivalent to the ending "-chen" to trivialize/belittle things and it is also used in some southern german regions near our border as well ..
    so we usually say in our common speech "bisserl" (but it sounds like "bissal") instead of "bisschen" or "Mäderl" (sounds like "Mädal") instead of "Mädchen" or "Katzerl" (sounds like "Katzal") instead of "Kätzchen" and "Sackerl" (sounds like "Sackal") instead of "Säckchen" and so on ......

    When we moved into our new apartment, we posted a note on the door, notifying the neighbors that it's gonna be a little noisy for the next few days because we're moving, costructing and hanging up furniture. We even made coffee and treata for anyone wanting to come say hello.
    Also an additional thing that makes germans angry is just being extremely loud in public in general. That also includes public transport. Talking to your friends is fine but again, broadcasting your conversation across the ENTIRE train cart, where I can hear you through my music all the way turned up? That's annoying as all hell. This might sound douchey but I've noticed that most groups who are this loud are the people from arabic countries who live in germany, mostly teenagers/early 20s. Some of them get really disrespectful too when you ask them to pipe down a bit (speaking from experience). I mean, I get it, my friends and I can get loud too, especially if we're laughing but damn at least we apologize when we're asked to be a little quieter.
