    Jacqueline, I love the shoes you’re wearing. Is it easier or more difficult to play the harp in heels?

    • @JacquelinePollauf
      @JacquelinePollauf  Год назад +1

      Those are my current harp shoes! Some people really like to play in heels while others prefer to play in flats. Usually I tell people to try out both and then be consistent about whichever they choose.

    I enjoy watching your videos and you have given me a lot of inspiration for new pieces. I am a beginner to the pedal harp and actually my biggest problem is to make less noise with the pedals them self (loud clack noises and so on). I tryed everything but it does not go away. Do you have any tip for me? I play a Aoyama Orpheus 47A and for me it feels like the pedals have a quiet heavy tension. My teacher told me this is absolutly normal. Do you have any experience with the easyness and noise from pedals from different harp manufacturers? Or any advise what to do? Thank you!

    • @JacquelinePollauf
      @JacquelinePollauf  3 года назад +1

      So glad to hear that you enjoy my videos! I do not have much experience with the Aoyama harps personally, but what I would try doing is seeing if you can move your pedals on their own (without playing) as slowly and as quietly as possible. If your pedals are quiet while doing this, then I would start to work on trying to keep them just as quiet within an exercise or piece of music. However, if the pedals are still really noisy when you're moving them incredibly slowly, I might see if a harp technician can take a look. Sometimes changing the pedal felts (which is a standard part of a regulation) can really quiet things down. Good luck!

      Jacqueline Pollauf wow! Thanks for your very good answer🙏! I will definitly try this! Maybe you are right and its the best to start slowly again to get noisless and fast later.

      @@SarahLMTh I think focusing on the habits you set up in moving pedals is important - if you move them really quietly (even if it takes ages) almost all of the time, then you'll be in a good spot to have really quiet pedals in more complex pedal moving situations. Good luck!

    The pedal harp reminds me of the drum kit, in that the goal is to get all four limbs working independently. So if you're playing a song in A flat major for example, would you automatically set the B, E, A and D pedals to flat when starting the piece? What about going from C to A flat major as in "Can't Help Falling In Love?" That seems tricky!

    • @JacquelinePollauf
      @JacquelinePollauf  3 года назад +1

      Yes, I do think the harp is similar to drum set or organ in having to use all of your limbs. You are correct about the pedal setting for A-flat major. The modulation in Can't Help Falling in Love is not all that tricky. I think I move one or two pedals early and then the others right on the first chord, although I don't have the music in front of me. This Gershwin Prelude, which is really chromatic, is super tricky for pedals: ruclips.net/video/vtZkYeYH6Bc/видео.html
      Also, this one, the Dance of the Bull, has a lot of crazy stuff going on with the pedals: ruclips.net/video/FL8Fy4R4MPM/видео.html

      @@JacquelinePollaufI really like Prelude III! It’d be neat to see a split screen or PIP so we can see the intricacy of the pedal changes. I’ve said it before, but I really love Prelude II and would love to see a video of that piece - it has such a great groove to it. I’ll check the other video out too.
      Out of curiosity Jacqueline, is there any place you know of where I can buy your Bouquet album (cd or digital)?

      @@gelguitarist I think I shot the Gershwin Prelude III before I had figured out how to do a split screen, but I agree it would be a great video for it! And I forgot that I don't have a video of Prelude II. I will add that to my list of future videos.
