I'm a 73 year old who used to cruise Longmont in the mid 60's when it was like the American Graffiti movie and thought I'd add a bit. At 2:20, when you crossed 17th, that was pretty much the North end of town, just south on the left (east side) was The Black Angus drive-in where everyone turned around to head south again. At 9:07 on the right you were passing what used to be the main motorcycle shop in town, sold a lot of great Nortons and other bikes there. Just south of the tracks (1st Ave) on the East side was a huge turkey processing plant for the longest time and across on the right (west) side was another drive-in, that I forget the name of, but that's where we turned around to head north again. Back then downtown was without the median and no trees and was the best place around to cruise. We lived in Boulder, but any Friday or Sat. evening spent over in Longmont was usually a good time. Lived there a couple years back in the mid 70's a couple blocks off of 9th and Main and still remember the hot rod sounds at night, of course thats why they fixed Main like they did. It sure was a cool little town back then and a great time to be a kid. One other thing, back then 287 (Main Street) was the main North South highway along the front range and I-25 had just been built, so almost all traffic went through downtown Longmont. Back then 287 went through old town Lafayette, too. Small towns separated by countless small family farms.

    • @markmark2080

@@dancer1 The sugar mill was just another "operating factory" back in the day, the thing I remember most was the mountain of beets they would pile up southeast of Hover Road and 119. Although I grew up in Boulder in the 50's and 60's, I lived in Longmont in the mid 70's, I remember going to many farm auctions back then, "these times, they were a changing".

I lived in Longmont for 18 years and moved to Fort Collins in 2012. Longmont is a nice town but FoCo is more my speed. Be that as it may, my wife and I moved to Florida last summer. I’ve spent most of my life in Colorado and miss some things, mostly my family who remained. I certainly don’t miss the snow and the I25 construction up north. Nice to see Longmont doing well.

I've lived in Longmont for 45 years. It was a great little town in 1973. It's too big now. I want to find a smaller town to live in but it's hard to find one now. So many people. But I'll never leave Colorado. I love it!

I despise Longmont. It's truly filled with some strange, toxic ppl. It's bumper to bumper on Main, Hover, Ken Pratt. I'm leaving in May and will never look back. There's a whole world out there, and Longmont isn't even a pimple on its ass. Lol

You gotta love Longmont, sure it may be busy at times but hey, it's not as busy as say, you know - New York City or Buffalo and all that, quite a chilled place for anyone looking to get away from city life but at the same time want to ensure they have some good quality and social time. I've been riding my bike between 3rd avenue and Atwood (they cross together as well as Main St Ironically enough), and I've been noticing a lot more community groups since this pandemic is letting up which is nice.

My name is mike , lived in Longmont Co.starting early 1982 off of Coffman And Mountain View ( I remember the Cemetary ! I would have to make my way across over to Albertson Safeway didn't do anything to desecrate the graves honest , as I searched for news today you know that there I sat in our apartment ok ? Watching MTV so it was 1983 Bob and Millie were the Management and had a deviated septum but oh so ruined distraught. No hope in the world met so many wonderful people in Longmont I was a sinner. But the miracle of my life took..place .I was listening to a band called Zebra " Who's Behind The Door?" But just turned the station and heard with a camel cigarette in my mouth ..a gentle peaceful broadcast of the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST and found myself weeping at 23 for what u had done and never found out about Gods love for me.So. I turned it off went into that bedroom and made myself quiet and received Him as Lord of my life said wash me with Your blood I want a new life and I'm going to live forever as you promised .I said I believe Jesus is the Lord risen from the dead with my mouth ..
In about two weeks.u looked around the alcohol drugs cigarettes most of all the despair was no more..since my life has changed I'm grown up. Jesus has never left us nor forsaken me.I worked for Porter Industries at Longmont Daily Times Call.Plus I just want to say thanks for this video.should any long for the Helper the Holy Spirit ask the LORD God he will ..God bless you ..in Jesus Name...audio....z

Used to hang out behind Mike O' Sheasand The Wok Inn .yup all I could do was sit around for coffee .And LesPrentice worked on the Main Street renewing then. The likes of Robert Palmer , Bill Hunt a book writer.I want to remember. Somebody his name Mr.Ken Miller and his wife and family as I was told by God to give up my trying to be a musician as profession and he saw me by the donut shop and hired me...!just under two years remember when his children were just born.So the video is a Ride Your of Longmont Now .now I can say I'm free from the past. If anybody remembers my testimony on the parade route or I wronged anybody after all these years if around I do what Jesus said and say I wronged you .and say would you recieve well 70×7 times to confess this ? Its not guilt but an honor to acknowledge..and really don't expect a big line you know ! 🐴

Longmont is a hell hole. Don't move here. You'll regret it. Bumper to bumper traffic on Hover, Main, Ken Pratt. I'm leaving in May, and won't miss the truly toxic ppl here.
