I used to have that same advent calendar when I was younger! I loved the little chocolate everyday! It was such a great little gift, but I LOVE your idea about having little notes of things that the whole family can do together! (: As always you are such an amazing woman Kayli! Thanks for your positive, and uplifting spirit!
We always had an advent calendar too with the chocolates!! It was always so exciting to see what shape you would get every day - I always remember running to show my Mom every day haha
Kayli--You are so talented. You have to have lots of patience for crafty stuff. Fun to watch your video's. This is what makes memories for children. Thanks for sharing.
I Loved those callenders with the cocolets inside!! I couldnt find one this year I was very sad! I wanted my son to beable to have the same joy and memories of that callendar, but sense i couldnt find one i was glad to find this video!
Oh my memories! I TOTALLY remember that calendar! I forgot all about it until now. I made an Advent Calendar for the first time last week! I'd love to share it with you... perhaps I'll tweet you! LOVE it. You look beautiful as always!!! LOVE the muffin tin idea!!!
I made a felt snowmen advent like Mary Engelbriet style, and it is the same size as my 2 year old. we are doing the same with little trinkets and notes of fun things to do. Less waste and can use every year
me and my sister still share an advent calendar and i am 18 and in college it will forever be one of my favorite holiday memories and will be bringing that tradition into my family.
Such great ideas! Advent calendars have always been a tradition for my family and these are such a good way to get the whole family involved - thanks for sharing : )
I used that EXACT advent calendar you held up as my advent calendar last year. And I just turned 23 last week! It all started when I lived in Germany for the last couple years of HS...I don't know why we never did it before :D
i never knew that those calenders are known in the US. in germany they are so common. nearly every child gets one of those! i think your ideas are so amazing. diy calender instead of buying one. CUTE
i made an advert calendar last year that could hold mini chocolates, but it's actually falling apart. i really like the muffin tin idea that's so creative
I made a felt calendar with a tree on the top half placing velcro circles on it and the bottom half I made pockets with the numbers like a calendar. I made 25 different ornaments out of felt and sewed sequins and beads on each and placed one in each pocket and a star for the 25th day. Each day you take the corresponding ornament out of the pocket and velcro it to the tree, its exciting as the tree gets more cover the closer the holiday is. The star goes on the top of the tree on Christmas day.
Our family uses the same wooden one, but puts clues where a little prize is and have it in the same 'Santa Bag'. Before Christmas, we get the card from our grandpa and on Christmas we get our Nutcrackers for that year, they are all really special and add up.
An advent calendar that my mom made for me when I was very little. She made it out of felt. It is a red piece of felt that has a green felt Christmas tree. Then below it looks like a calendar with all of the numbers. Basically there are pieces of velcro under each number with a different felt Christmas ornaments, then on the tree there are velcro pieces, where we put each ornament. At the very top if the tree we hang a star, which is for December 24th, there is no December 25th.
I live in Australia so for Australia Day me and my friends put Australian flag tattoos on, have a barbecue and go swimming. You are so creative, Kayli💛
I like both of the ideas, they are both very creative. I'm actually going to try both of them eventually, but for now I'm doing the banner one. I have a perfect spot to hang it from where the kids can't mess with it at all times, which is usually what happens with all of our advent calendars because they can't wait. :-) Thanks for making this video.
My grandma made me one where you stick the ornaments on the tree each day. Now I also get the ones filled with chocolate though because I never had them and they're delicious! :)
The window is so picture perfect! This must be their Utah house since it looks like it's snowing. I love California weather but it's nice to see them in Utah with their family and snow for the kids :)
I do the Adveny valance with chocolates in my school. We go by order , and open the doors one a day according to the order we have from our attendance paper.
My family uses an advent wreath and something my grandma made- its called "a beary merry christmas'. We would take turns moving the little bear according to what the date said in the house scene so he could find christmas :)
For Hannukkah, my whole family gets together at my house, and we eat some sort of nice dinner, then my brother says the prayer in Hebrew, and lights the candles. (each one for its designated day) Afterward, we open presents, and sometimes bet our chocolate coins on which candle will go out last.
These ideas were so adorable!! Every year, we have this tree shaped advent calendar that holds candies in little boxes with numbers and every day you get the candy, you turn around the box and there is a picture on the back. By the 25th, the picture is complete!! We also get a Playmobil advent calendar with little toys in them that make up a little toy scene:) I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!! Maybe you could make a Christmas decor video like the one for Thanksgiving?? I would love that SO MUCH!! Thanks!
We had an advent "calender" that was a Santa Clause with 25 pockets and each nice an "elf" would visit us and leave us a little treat.. like candy, pens, books, and other holiday stuff. It was soo much fun, i miss it :/ lol
Awww, I loved those Advent Calenders ! I always got the chocolate ones but I remember one year my brother got a big Lego one that had a piece of a Christmas set in it for each day and he got to slowly assemble his new toys each day. I was jealous of that one but taunted him with my chocolate treat anyways. This is a super cute idea :]
I love these ideas .. Although I am 24 my mom still makes me a calender each year. It's a string with 24 socks on it and she fills it with treats. This year she also handmade one where there is a picture of one of my family members behind each door. It's fun to open the doors up and think about the person that is behind the door. christmas is a family holiday so the calender makes you think about that all december :)
that's a fun idea! When I was a kid, we had a wooden santa face that we hung on the wall, and there were 25 white, numbered pegs in his beard. my mom would put two life savers on each peg. one for me and one for my brother
So creative, Kayli! Love the countdown ideas!
