Watch and learn as Brittany Ketcham shows you how to make these rich and beautiful bracelets inspired by the bright and saturated colors of India and Bollywood. Make one in every color and stack them up on your wrists. This is a great summer project, and easy to set up and take on a long car ride, plane trip, or even the beach! Each bracelet takes about an hour, and all the supplies are available on beadshop.com.
Love the bracelet. One thing that isn't mentioned is it is built 'underneath', meaning the bracelet is right-side up when you take it off the project board and flip it over. I thought I was doing it wrong, but a close watch of the video showed me I wasn't. It's a very cute bracelet and I have made several. I used S-lon regular (#18) with 8/0 seed beads and S-lon heavy (Tex 400) with 6/0 seed beads. Thank you.
I was making my first one, and wanted to see if it would fit, so I turned it over, and I was so surprised to see that I had been thinking the bottom was the top. rotfl...it looks pretty cool either way, but the beads do show up better when you use the right side. ;)
Yes, we love the ThreadBurners as well! I am glad we were able to direct you to such a handy tool. I don't know how we designed without them for so long.

Just made one at 6" with purple nylon cord and 8/0 silver lined Toro beads, looks fantastic! Definitely recommend the Beadalon tying station, makes life so much easier.

The beads used in the video are 6/0 seed beads (4x3mm with a 1.6mm hole). We have the ingredients for each bracelet listed on our site beadshop.com in the RUclips video section. We used a combination of 6/0 and 8/0 (3x2.5mm with a 0.6mm hole) in all of the bracelets shown in the very beginning of the video. Please let us know if you have any further questions. Happy beading!

Thank you ladies! Very cute. Thanks for getting me back to macrame'. I had made myself a few Shambala bracelets using some gorgeous gemstones and was appreciating the ease on my hands so I looked for more macrame using softer cord or thread and I looked on your site. So a double thank you!
For the last macrame stitches in the contrast you could drop a pin through cords on one side then on the other side securing it to make it easier to do those final stitches.
I love it. I had a yellow cotton thread on hand (ombré style). Not bad for my first go and I loved doing it so I might get some knotting thread although I love the colours so I may try it on the same thread again.
I missed something here and did not measure from the beginning of the two inch mark to the end of the knotting (thinking that once I finished incorporating the 50 beads I was done) when indeed my knotting was too long! Shame on me to finish off before trying on my wrist. I had to take the end of the bracelet apart and scrunch UP the knots being careful not to ruin the look and then tie off.
I cannot get the closure tight enough. Keeps slipping! Love it anyway!

Hi! Loved this tutorial and am finishing up with my very 1st bracelet. I do see that working with 3 yards of cord to macrame with is very wasteful and I'm wondering if I missed a step or misunderstood? Did I not do enough knots lol?

Love your tutorials! I have a question though re: after you had come to the end of bead/knots. You reviewed the pattern and said it was "Bead, one knot; Bead, two knots". But we actually did- "Bead one knot, Bead one knot, knot, knot? Correct? I just making sure I was following correctly! :) Thank you

i made one last week. Its...thread on bead then one half of a knot, thread another bead on other side, then another one half of a knot, followed by two knots making one whole knot , then repeat !!!!!! does that make sense ???? sounds confusing even to me. LOL

I don't understand because I just used medium weight with 6/0 seed beads and I used 50 beads and the measurement came out to like over a 10 inch bracelet which is wayyy too big for anyone. Kind of disappointed.

What other stringing materials could be used in place of the chinese knotting cord in case we want to have other colors that aren't available in the knotting cord?

I like the look of these bracelets a lot! and, I have a ton of size 6 seed beads, so YaY! ;) btw, the sound seems fine to me, saw a comment about it. works fine. was going to make sis a bracelet that was braided, with a seed bead inside, but when I learned how, I noticed the beads tend to pop out and I don't like that, and I can do the double bead braid, but yours was totally perfect. ;) almost finished with one for sisters B-Day, and I'm so happy. I too have a 7" wrist ...I think she just thought it would be safe to say add a couple more beads and it should fit a slightly larger wrist...But she didn't think about all the extra knots etc that would include.to the overall size... If you notice the bracelet is very big on her wrist! I am an advanced beader so I think if we make the bracelet just as described in the video with the same amt of beads I think it will still fit us! I will be making one for myself and I will let you know.. :)

What size seed beads is she using? She doesn't say in the video, it's not in the discription, and because of this I bought the wrong size beads because I had to just guess. They won't fit in my string.
Please, I would like to know what size beads you used for this project. I only found .8 Chinese knotting thread at A.C. Moore for $3.49, a roll.... Would like to make these, just not sure bead size. Thanks

I really love this bracelet and I followed the instructions the lengths of the cord the beads to a T and my bracelet came out way too big I have the same size wrist as you do yet my bracelet was so large I was very disappointed

my wrist is 6,25" and it's too big too, but I haven't ended it yet, so i'll just take some off. whew! glad I read your comment. thanks!
I used 32 size 6 E Beads (better than seed beads) for my 6.3 inch wrist, and it fits perfect. The E's have a bigger hole, and are more cylindrical, and Toho makes them pretty consistent. ;)

I am confuse sry but when you added the 2 beginning beads and tied the cord to the board I am not sure what end you started
she started at the base of the first surgeons knot, with the first silver bead at the end where you can't see it. the second bead is on the bottom, just hanging there waiting for you to end it. ;) 7 months later... O well. ;)
volume is so low can't hear most of what you're saying.

Hello Brittany, for the knotting cord you recommended 3 yards. I seemed to have way too much left over in the end. Might it be because I used a smaller diameter of knotting cord?
I used 1mm, with size 6 beads, and had about a yard left total. my wrist is 6.3 so next time when I use 1.5 mm cord, I'm going to cut the 3 yards down a couple feet. I'm using waxed cotton cord and love it so much better than any other cord I bought. it's soft but you have to glue the ends because the cotton burns, doesn't melt like the Chinese knotting cord does. but, it's sooo much nicer, and still fits through size 6 beads.
What size cord does she use?

Size or diameter of cord? What is it made of? ID of beads?
Love your videos! I have made two of the Bollywood bracelets. There is a lot of leftover cord from the working cords. Is there a reason that you have those cords so long?

We usually like to have a little extra cord just in case you're new to beading and make a mistake. You can always adjust the amount of cord you work with to your level of comfort.

They are called knots, not stitches. Also, provide the names of the knots you are doing so people using the video to learn something will be able to follow written instructions, and not just rely on videos.
does it have to be .6 I buy from Amazon and they only have .5 .8 and up from there
You can make these in any size but you might have to adjust the size of bead you use depending on the size of cord. They will also be wider or thinner depending on the size of your cord used. Hope that was useful.

I brushed a little clear nail polish and pinched and smoothed out to stiffen the ends. It really helped. And less sticky on my fingers than glue
Great tutorial but it looks quite dangerous - surely you would pin the bracelet down firmly before using that hot tool?

I've done many of these following this video's instructions. However, it has been a while so I had to watch the video again. I realized that at about 4 mins. into the video, you add a bead fed through both core cords and push it up against the knot at the 2 inch mark. But when done, you don't add a bead at the end. Is that a matter of preference, design, or reason why? Because all the ones I did, I didn't put that first bead on but then just started the macrame. Just wondering . . . .
she added a second bead. it's hanging down at the bottom waiting for the end of the bracelet. the top bead next to the first surgeons knot is hiding. edit here: she said to tie a second knot 2 inches down from the first surgeons knot, then you add a second bead to dangle, tie it loosely until you're done, then it's ready to be the second dangle with a bead and knot. ;)

A square knot is a macrame knot. Any knot used in macrame is a macrame knot. There is no specific one "macrame knot". Macrame knots can be square knots, half hitch knots, full hitch knots, etc, etc.
