if i didn't listen to taylor prior to lover and all i got from it was ME!, it wouldn't make me seek out the rest. which makes me so sad to say because everything else is so incredible about this but ME! in it's current state doesn't hit right. also some people argue that the length of the album is a pretty big factor, that when she sets herself to her 13 lucky number, she puts in a more clear story and then the bonuses are nice to just throw in as things she wrote but just didn't help tell the story. so i guess the story feels long and confusing to some with lover.
Honestly I think Cruel Summer should have been a single and ME! should have just been an album track. I really think I would have liked ME! sooooooooooo much more of it wasn't promoted as a single, it's a really fun and feel good song but it works so much better in the context of the album!

They’re both incredible, but Evermore is a grown up folklore in my opinion, and I’m 30 and I’ve been a mom for 8 years, so I’m in a point in my life where I really relate to Evermore. Folklore is gorgeous, but it feels like I’m reading stories (which is the point) but Evermore was my life experience in songs. If that makes sense?

Fun Fact: Taylor originally planned this album name Daylight but after some time Taylor decided to for Lover because she thought it better covered the message she wanted to tell with this album, and it's true. Also Cruel Summer is in swiftie community known as Taylor's biggest waste of hit in her whole career. This song is really pop perfection, it's fun and radio-friendly while also lyrically and vocally interesting song, we think this could've been one of her biggest hits if she released it as single. We think that Taylor actually planned to make Cruel Summer 5th single (after ME!, YNTCM, Lover and The Man) before go on tour but her plans got crashed with pandemic and then in spring and summer while she was already making Folklore she decided to scrap Cruel Summer as single. It's such a waste of hit, this would be easily number 1 song, we'll never get over it.

OMG! I LOVE this reaction. This is one of my favorite albums. The fact that it was the first album she owned, it was an album completely showing different aspects of love, I love the experimentation of sounds and including horns and saxophone sounds. This album will continue to grow on you the more you listen to it. It's a shame that she didn't get to tour it due to the pandemic because the few live performances we have of this album, like npr tiny desk, bbc one performance, and city of lover are some of the best Taylor has ever sounded.

I am so happy you guys like this album it is what got me into Taylor when it was released. I'm only half way through but I want to urge you to listen to the acoustic version of DBATC from her Tiny Desk performance. Her explanation of the song then her extremely excellent live performance are superior. I liked the album version of the song but the acoustic version became one of my Top 5 all time. I'm a Lover stan, I think it's super undervalued in the fandom. I think a tour might have changed that but that went to Covid and then onto Folklore and Lover got the short end of the stick all the way around.

This album has grown on me over the past 3 years. It took years but it is way better then when I listened to it the first time. Most of her albums for me are a slower burn. I always have songs I love immediately then some I am indifferent about as I listen I buy in and become obsessed, ones I don’t like but then end up living too and ones I just don’t like. Her albums always take a 3-4 listens to fully appreciate all aspects of it I am a Swiftie and some other swifties don’t like that I admit I don’t immediately love her albums right off the bat and it takes a minute for me to love and appreciate her album. It was this way with Lover and also Midnights. With midnights on first listen I wasn’t sold but with the subsequent listens I completely have become obsssed. Now there are only 4 songs I don’t like (Anti-hero, Snow on the Beats, Question, Hits different and Paris) all other 17 songs I long just those five I always skip. MATHP and Cruel summer are both my number one

This album has grown on me over the past 3 years. It took years but it is way better then when I listened to it the first time. Most of her albums for me are a slower burn. I always have songs I love immediately then some I am indifferent about as I listen I buy in and become obsessed, ones I don’t like but then end up living too and ones I just don’t like.
Her albums always take a 3-4 listens to fully appreciate all aspects of it
I am a Swiftie and some other swifties don’t like that I admit I don’t immediately love her albums right off the bat and it takes a minute for me to love and appreciate her album. It was this way with Lover and also Midnights. With midnights on first listen I wasn’t sold but with the subsequent listens I completely have become obsssed. Now there are only 4 songs I don’t like (Anti-hero, Snow on the Beats, Question, Hits different and Paris) all other 17 songs I long just those five I always skip. MATHP and Cruel summer are both my number one
