Whereas, right now IF you plugin effects into the INPUT, it is before the wah and the rest of the chain and if any additional noise is generated from your real gear, it will keep their massively great gate open - which makes the performance not as good. @@SeanPierceJohnson
I need to know this: can you actually switch the clean amp for dirty amp with a footswitch or you have to bend down and turn the nob by hand every time you play live? (Scene mode kinda thing) Cause it'd be a pretty fucked up in a live situation if you could't do that and since this is such a great sounding amp and invention. Just wondering, 'cause if it does that than take my money!
Thank you very much! Is AMPX fully analogue or partly? Can AMPX be driven in fully analogue mode (all analogue chain from input to output), without digital effects?

there is a USB port on the control plate under the silver hood. keep in mind, this was one of two working prototypes...there's still plenty of work before these go to market.
@@SeanPierceJohnson Thx for your infos. To be more specific: the bluebox is recommended to work in conjunction with a physical box for its full potential. does the cab sim in the ampx too?
My concern with this unit, while it seems to offer a ton and will continue to grow with its FW updates, etc. is that it looks plastic-y and not a road-worthy piece of equipment. Maybe great for studio and home, but touring?? Also, as a current Fractal owner, I'm concerned with products that say "future-proof", because as what happened to my Fractal, once the new hardware product came out, they stopped updating my unit and now I'm stuck with an outdated product that can never be updated again. *sigh* I'd be open to hearing thoughts on this. I am looking for something compact that can serve me well without lugging too much stuff around and seriously contemplating a Synergy system to maintain real amps in a singular rack space, but not sure what is my best direction at this time. Also been using the Tech21 Fly Rigs into my Matrix power amp with some success. Open to suggestions.
Like Amp1 it’s made of metal and designed to be stomped on. As for future proofing Thomas Blug said in this vid that he views this hardware unit as being around for a long time with firmware updates via usb. Similar to Kemper, same hardware for many years. I think AmpX will be around and supported in it’s current format for a long time. Bluguitar is a small company and constantly having a new model (Fractal!) to out date the previous model doesn’t make sense for a smaller company.
I have an old Axe Fx Ultra unit I don't play mostly due to lack of amp. Amps will always be outdated by newer gear but that doesn't necessarily mean it sounds bad. I was just listening to the Roctron Prophesy 2 an outdated piece of gear that seems to get pretty good sounds out of it even today.
The USB functionality was being worked on when Thomas and I shot the video so we didn’t showcase it. It seems like you could potentially be able to upload amp “models” to the AMPX, but not in the sense of how a Helix or Kemper would model since the amp circuit is analog. You may be able to store backups of your presets to a USB stick, update firmware…amongst other things.
@@SeanPierceJohnson With the H&K Coreblade uploading the presets to the USB stick was how they did it. I don't think that is something I ever bothered doing with mine. I would hope it is more of an app like H&K's does with their newer stuff. It wasn't clear from this video if the analog knobs are recallable like H&K does with their amps though.
@@SeanPierceJohnson as that’s a huge part of the sound, and big influence on the power amp section itself (cab load, adding punch and removing harshness most of the time), it would be very interesting to ear the new dynamic IR… next time I hope :) Thanks for the video!
Great concept and technology though the floor amps combos usually always have a fatal flaw for live performance set up missing the mark when it comes to having to kneel to adjust something that can easily be achieved with a traditional amp head sitting on top of a cab. Display it's a be small, sure you can read it perfectly if you use it a table top.. but on a stage very likely visibility gets lost. And if it is an all in one solution, it should definitely have a expression pedal. Either way, best of luck with the final product and success of it. Hope one day someone figures out all those barriers to truly come up with an all in one floor amp combo.
@@enlat2003 Why? Not everybody uses expression pedals. I also think the display is not there to make changes when you're on stage, since that's a little bit too late to program fx and completely change presets. The important knobs are in front of you, so it should be super easy to make some minor changes on the fly. Can't wait for this unit.
@@private7g944 Using your same logic for the expression pedal, not everybody uses a floor amp combo yet here we are talking about it. As I said, this looks to be a promising unit though still not addressing some of the shortcomings of floor amp combos from the past. The display is not just for making adjustments, it should be visible period otherwise eliminate it and throw in an expression pedal :)
@@enlat2003 I can't see any logic there. If I'm interested in the AMPX, then I'm interested in a floor amp combo. Easy as that. If I want an additional expression pedal then I just buy one. Let's just assume that an expression pedal would be included. Ppl then would complain that they don't like it because it's the wrong one or too small etc. We're all individuals, so no unit can be perfect for everybody. You think it's too expensive and not your thing, absolutely no problem for me :)
Thomas answered this towards the end of the video; German dealers will get first dibs toward the end of the year and the Rest of the World will see it in early 2023
I guess there is a thing I don't like from amp x. It has 6 footswitches, it is larger than the previous versions, but you will need a midi controller for effects. In my opinion it should be taller so It could have an extra 5 footswitches for effects. What I mean is that the strong part of this device is the small weight in a compact unit where you could have it all. If you need an extra pedalboard to control the effects uhmmmmm then is not so complete and competitive . This way for me is better to go with a Mercury and an analog effects pedalboard. You could also go with a Kemper or Axe with a power amp,.... the fact that it don't have footswiches for the effects could be a handicap in my opinion ....
If the is usable to a wide guitar player base, putting the metal trash at the beginning of the demo is a marketing blunder because most people will think it is just for metal and exit the video and never think anything different.
i disagree. the anticipation for this is two years in the making and mostly from players well aware of BluGuitar and its work. Plus, that's what time-stamps are for...
Ampx will be out before the end of 2021. Ampx will be out in beginning of 2022. Ampx will be out for sure by the summer of 2022. Ampx will be out in beginning of 2023 (this video says). All said by Blug in different interviews.
no that's not what the video says. the video clearly says that Germany and local EU countries will get the release in late 2022 and the Rest of the World will get the release in the beginning of 2023. Thomas never once confirmed a release date for AmpX until just before NAMM. is it possible that the release could be delayed? of course, supply chain delays are still a thing. but as of now, it will be out before the end of 2022.
I’m sure MANY players (of all skill levels) will get the chance to play it once the final production models are ready. But as of right now, this is one of TWO working prototypes.
Thomas Blug is an excellent pedal builder and therefore the pre which really consists of OD pedals is excellent. On the other hand the amp section with the gimmicky nano tube sucks, I had the first model Amp 1 for two years and hated it. I went back to a 50 watt Plexi and it was night and day better.
I couldn’t disagree more. I’ve been using the Amp1 Silver and now Mercury for 4 years and it’s awesome! For live playing, at gigging volume, the power amp sings and sounds (and feels) sublime
I’ve had the amp 1 editions. Settled on the iridium. I couldn’t disagree more. The iridium has replaced my Marshall jvm, jubilee and OD pedals. Either you had faulty units or you wasn’t using it correctly.
@@loughorboy3332 I agree with you, I just recently started using Vintage on ME and it sounds amazing in 2 guitar band mix. I really don't understand what's gimmicky about nano tube. Then again it was the first version, he might not have played ME or Iridium. You can go JMP/Plexi you can go JCM800 with a switch press, no problem.
The BluGuitar Amp1 was a bad experience for me. The first model was returned to the London shop after it gave me several electric shocks (yes - in the 21st century). The replacement unit started suffering an intermittent reverb fault - sometimes plenty, sometimes almost none - then the lights behind the footswitches started playing up, then footswitches themselves did likewise, then this unit also gave me electric shocks. Needless to say, all the faults occurred when the unit was out of warranty. I found the construction flimsy, too. I finally took it to the recycling centre two weeks ago and won't buy anything from this manufacturer again.
even though it has analog components to replicate numerous amplifiers, gain pedals & modulation pedals? even though it'll have stereo digital effects like reverb and delay? even though it has a built in 100 watt power amp? even though it'll have stereo cabinet simulation for direct recording or sending to Front of House on gigs? even though Thomas plans to support it for years to come with updates and new sounds?
I reckon, there's absolutely no need to justify. Thomas's fans and think-alikes get the price policy and would be happy to own one anyways. It's a smaller "think different" community I guess. The Apple of late 00s, the Pioneer plasma vs lcd of that same period... the novelty classic one knows exactly why he wants it

The idea is that the foot switches are programmable
Thank you very much! Is AMPX fully analogue or partly? Can AMPX be driven in fully analogue mode (all analogue chain from input to output), without digital effects?
That’s a question better answered by Thomas. But I’m inclined to believe a lot of the post effects, especially reverbs, will be digital.
That was Tonight Tonight right?
IS this one of those products that companies advertise but dont really have for sale? Its not in the Sweetwater link and I dont get any for sale results in a search.
this is a prototype and will be available towards the end of the year. i'm sure Sweetwater will have them once there is stock.
@@SeanPierceJohnson thanks. If you said it in the video, my bad. I think I may have been too excited and then bummed out when I could not find it.
Big question when can we buy one !
We address that towards the end; Germany will get it first around Winter 2022 and the Rest of the World will follow in early 2023.
Would like to see a bass guitar version
not a bad idea! though I imagine he'd start out with a Bass AMP1.
Money dependant will dictate which bass model im certain. Amp 1 is sold at RBI where I work as well as vintage guitars and Toca percussions...
To further reply, whether he begins at amp1 stage or goes all out with x it would be cost dependant. My guess he has thought already on this. What he wants to see is demand comments. Right on spot with that ta think?
Is it finally here?
first prototype. release is late 2022/early 2023
Holy shit
no kidding! thanks for watching
Do a rack version!
that WOULD be awesome!
Will this have modelled or profiled "type" amps in there...It was really important to know that!! How will be loaded with amp sounds and many questions around this!! It cant convince me right now...I would like to see or hear amps like EVH, 5150, etc...see if can get these sounds correct!!
there is a USB port on the control plate under the silver hood. keep in mind, this was one of two working prototypes...there's still plenty of work before these go to market.
WDW ? Outputs ?
I want this machine for Sonic youth live sounds mainly. And for recording.
interesting use for it. don't see why it could be great for more avant garde and punk sounds.
Can I trade in my iridium pedal for that please...
Thx for the cool intro. Do you need a connected cab for the IR cab simulation to sound in full potential? THX
we didn't use any cab sim in this video. it's entirely up to you what you want to do.
@@SeanPierceJohnson Thx for your infos. To be more specific: the bluebox is recommended to work in conjunction with a physical box for its full potential. does the cab sim in the ampx too?
Thomas, du bist ne geile Sau!
will the AMP1 be upgraded as well? interested in that...
As of now, I can't say it will be or won't be.
I was just listening to the Roctron Prophesy 2 an outdated piece of gear that seems to get pretty good sounds out of it even today.
hey sandy
you win the game!
👍👍👍
Can this inspire like my Diezel and 1,000lb Triamp mark1 do?
maybe it will! i can't promise anything but it is certainly worth trying
what the USB do? I didn't get it, it's like .nam files? How can you "drop" amps there? Modeling? How?
What were we hearing the sound through? - because alot of it seemed scooped to me...
orange PPC212 cab mic'd with an SM57 and an active ribbon mic
@@SeanPierceJohnson Hmm, okay. Thanks.
Did you use the cab section?
good question. the sound you hear in the video is a mic'd up Orange PPC212 cab with Vintage 30s not the speaker sims
@@SeanPierceJohnson as that’s a huge part of the sound, and big influence on the power amp section itself (cab load, adding punch and removing harshness most of the time), it would be very interesting to ear the new dynamic IR… next time I hope :)
Thanks for the video!
Is this the Steve Jobs of guitar amps?
there's a strong case for it...
i hope not , steve jobs is nothing
How much will this cost?
Thomas answered this questions towards the end of the video; currently projecting $2,000 USD
@@SeanPierceJohnson Thanks!
It has expression pedal ports and they are looking into making their own expression pedals.
@@SeanPierceJohnson The point is for the price this will be selling it should include it as part of the unit.
When is it gonna be available in EU countries?
Thomas answered this towards the end of the video; German dealers will get first dibs toward the end of the year and the Rest of the World will see it in early 2023
@@SeanPierceJohnson OK, I thought he meant outside Germany and EU
Amp x Vs quad cortex
that would be fun!
Can I please have my AMPX now ?
Sounds a lot like Blackspirit 200.
No more Blu Tube whatsoever?
What’s that?
His playing up from 23.44 sounds like a bunch of fucking cats on Chrystal Meth.
You could also go with a Kemper or Axe with a power amp,.... the fact that it don't have footswiches for the effects could be a handicap in my opinion ....
my understanding is that the footswitches can be programmed however the user desires. all of this is still a prototype.
@@SeanPierceJohnson not true, I've seen Thomas saying this online. Yes, video says in United States 2023.
Wird schwieriger für kemper
Why is everything X
or "plus"
Here's the problem .. if it is so amazing, why can't Thomas get a good player or at least a known professional to demo it ??
I’m sure MANY players (of all skill levels) will get the chance to play it once the final production models are ready. But as of right now, this is one of TWO working prototypes.
That's a big part of the attraction of the ISP Theta products foe me. Ethan Brosh, Adam McClean and Michael Sweet all make them sound great.
@@loughorboy3332 😂
I’ve had the amp 1 editions. Settled on the iridium. I couldn’t disagree more. The iridium has replaced my Marshall jvm, jubilee and OD pedals. Either you had faulty units or you wasn’t using it correctly.
@@loughorboy3332 I agree with you, I just recently started using Vintage on ME and it sounds amazing in 2 guitar band mix.
I really don't understand what's gimmicky about nano tube. Then again it was the first version, he might not have played ME or Iridium.
You can go JMP/Plexi you can go JCM800 with a switch press, no problem.
i wouldn't call it a gimmick. it's not like a "tube" distortion pedal that barely feeds correct voltage to the tube.
The opening sounds accurately reflected a broken amplifier.
This just doesn't sound as good as current modelers.
2k, I'm out.
overpriced! Nothing new thats worth 2k!!!
even though it has analog components to replicate numerous amplifiers, gain pedals & modulation pedals? even though it'll have stereo digital effects like reverb and delay? even though it has a built in 100 watt power amp? even though it'll have stereo cabinet simulation for direct recording or sending to Front of House on gigs? even though Thomas plans to support it for years to come with updates and new sounds?
I reckon, there's absolutely no need to justify. Thomas's fans and think-alikes get the price policy and would be happy to own one anyways. It's a smaller "think different" community I guess. The Apple of late 00s, the Pioneer plasma vs lcd of that same period... the novelty classic one knows exactly why he wants it
Bees in a can.
The recording wasn’t on point here but having owned the iridium for a while now I am confident this will be amazing in person.
not every sound works with my set up, but most of them do. I feel the more "modern" sounds are a bit too gated, which is a bit of a bummer
@@SeanPierceJohnson it’s still a prototype at this point. Lots more of improvements will be made
Such an insightful comment...
