Played with this string through 2 college years. Love it. However would just blow through them like crazy, considering the price it’s still one of the best bang for your buck strings
I also play with this string as Main, together with Tourna Synthetic Armor as Cross. Superb combination to give great control and spin with good comfort on arm. No harshness likes many stiff poly/co-poly at all.
Tourna Big hitter silver tour is my go to. Its an insanely good string. Very controlled and decent spin for me. Nice and stiff, if a stiff string is your thing!
I found out about this string around 1 1/2 - 2 years ago (whenever the Blade V7 came out). Definitely a sleeper string. Good blend of bite, power, control, and tension maintenance. The only issue is the string is known to snap at the grommets. Not a big deal if you string your own rackets. Still have my reel of this.
Yeah that was the problem I had when I played with this string. It would snap at the grommets after playing with it for a short period of time. This constantly happened and that’s why I decided to switch back to Rpm blast.
@@joshuathomas8089 Yeah. Again, if you string your own rackets, and really like the string, then it doesn't bother me but if you pay to get your rackets strung, then it will be a real waste of time and money. I have reels of different types of string. Still not settled in with a combo yet as I've switched rackets several times in the past few years.
Friend of mine uses this on the mains with a very soft technifibre multi on the crosses… the tourna string is so sharp and stiff that when pulling tension on the crosses, the softer string gets stuck and moves the mains quite a lot, damaging the coating of the multi. It’s a real pain to string, even taking all precautions such as weaving one ahead, and only leaving a loop barely long enough for the tension head.
The only hexagonal string that I used was solinco barbed wire, which felt immaculate. However, I want to finish my reels of pros pro before making a change.
What tension would you recommend for that string? Tennis Warehouse did a review on it and said that the string felt very stiff so they strung it up with „only“ 44 and 45 lbs. At what tension did you string it and did it feel good?
I like this string as well got a reel, but prefer confidential. Tourna string felt a lot stiffer then confidential to me. Using it in head prestige mp 2019. I might try it again side by side.
The silver version is stiffer and more crisp from what I understand. I have a set of black but have not tried it. It is probably more springy and softer feeling than silver.
I've never used Confidential before. But I have been using this string for the past 6 months in a hybrid poly setup. Silver 7 tour on the mains and a softer poly on the crosses. With the full bed of S7T i had elbow and wrist pain after my first intense practice session. Great string, definitely try it out. But it was too stiff for me.
I had a quick question Harry. Have you noticed the string breaking at the grommets? That happened frequently to my pure aero when I played with this string. That was the reason I had to change strings.
It would be nice if you would do a video on the whole line of Tourna strings. I've been playing with the Big Hitter Black 7 for 4-years because I read a review that positively compared it to Black Widow and was less expensive. I'm surprised you hadn't heard about Tourna strings before. I think the strings have been around since 2012.
Love your reviews! My family loved meeting you in person in August of last year! I bought a reel of Confidential after watching your reviews last year, I'm almost out...how do you think this would play compared to Solinco Confidential 16L?
I have tried Tounno Black 7. It was comfortable on the arm. It was a terrific soft copoly that played great with power&spin. But, it didn't last more than 4.5 hours. So, the company will not tell the difference between big hitter silver 7 and big hitter black 7? I would venture to say the only difference is the color. The durability sucks on both but they don't last long.
Hi, my son is an advanced junior player, hardhitter searching for maximum control. Unfortunately Confidential hurt his arm a lot, but is a crazy good control string. We replaced it with the Tourna and the result is very very good. A lot of control, a lot more spin but most important: the arm does not hurt anymore. He switched to Tourna.
I guess that's my question -- if the edges are designed to enable the strings to slide across one another and enhance snapback - would it wear the other (hybrid'd) string super fast? or not that much more since it's designed to limit the contact between strings?
probably for a big hitter. i use the 17g on a 100 sq in 18x20 with a shaped syn gut and it’s holding up well. good pocketing and very comfy. decent spin and power. durability wise i haven’t been able to hit w/ bigger hitters with it yet so unsure.
Harry - I bought some silver 7 tour after you had the Tourna rep on talking about it on your channel. I still haven’t strung it up, but don’t you pay attention to your own content? I also picked up some Tourna Quasi-Gut Armor to try with it as a hybrid. Also picked up a couple Tourna reels to use for practice stringing rackets after I bought a drop weight stringer since it was so cheap. A full roll of straight Tourna 17g Poly was like $21.
Highly unlikely, since this string stiffness rated 16g at: 238 vs VOLKL CYCLONE 16g: 198. Cyclone would / should be much softer feel... This string tension loss is rated better than Cyclone. I take a better/softer Poly over longer life, to protect my wrist/elbow/etc...
Been using this for years. Its great but I dont agree with the lively comment. The black 7 is good too. You guys in pro shops dont know about these bc Joe Q Public wants the stuff that pros consistently use or claim to IE popular strings like RPM blast or big banger. Luxilon is like bitcoin. The first, the most popular….and outdated
Agree on everything, and yes, Luxilon is like bitcoin, good analogy. Do you string your rackets full bed, or do you hybrid Silver 7 with some other string?
Wtf! I've been watching this channel consistently for more than 3 months. How did I miss this video? I'm definitely gonna give it a try.

What is the difference between the Tour and non-Tour version?
Big Hitter Silver is round and Big Hitter Silver 7 tour is shaped (heptagonal)
Finally you reviewed this one!, I commented it in many of your videos about it.

@@williewasahippie black is the stiffest
Great feed!
Also try Topspin Cyberflash!
Have you reviewed any of the technifbre polys? I switched to black code 4s and felt it had great tension maintenance.
Some compare this string to Head Lynx tour, Tour Hex, and the stats are also close to MSV Focus Hex.
Will definitely have to give this a hit!
A hair softer than Confidential? TWU data shows its a bit stiffer string right up there with RPM Blast in 1.30mm.
To me, Confidential still has a more consistent feel, shot for shot. Silver feels a tad crisper and has more grab for spin.
I've never used Confidential before. But I have been using this string for the past 6 months in a hybrid poly setup. Silver 7 tour on the mains and a softer poly on the crosses. currently i'm using a heel of silver 7 tour 16L, amazing string

Check the Tennis Warehouse forums and you will read a lot of people have this issue. The forums is a good place to get feedback on different strings.

If I usually use 48 pounds with big hitter blue rough, should I lower the tension if I string with silver 7?
What tension do you use?
This string is great!
How long live broken, and crispy vs RPM blast ori, Solinco revolution hex 1.20, Signum Pro Poly Plasma,
What would recommend between 16g and the 17g? (I play with the new Head Gravity Tour)
You got a nice looking backhand.

Coach goo got a sweeet pro level forehand
Nice String, nice Vid!
Can you tell me the specs of coach goo and his wilson blade? @tennisspin?
So Harry, which one is better for you, Confidential or Silver 7 Tour? Will you switch to Silver 7 Tour?
I want to know this too

tourna big red please
17g is much less stiff than 16g for this string
i felt that way too and think i can string this higher than 50lbs on an 18x20 racquet. good pocketing feel when used as a hybrid as well.
2:44 Coach Gu needs a new head guard. That’s no way to treat a BP!
Too sharp to use in a hybrid with gut or a multi?

volkl cyclone like?
Tried it in the past and it had more of a plastic feel to me. I still have some sets.
The United States Racket Stringers Association rated Silver very highly along with black 7 which I use for all my hybrid setups.

Similar to cyclone in the sense that is a dead string, but more firm and less powerfull. Also the launch angle is lower.

Lol coach chris is utr 8 and he plays futures in turkey..cant win a game
