    Please note that the fixed IP address is only for LAN1 (used for connecting to a PC for programming). The second LAN port does have an IP address which can be modified, so multiple robots can communicate on the network and also talk to other equipment. This means you are fully flexible when connecting it to the Local area network, except for when you are programming it via DobotStudio.
    Hope this clarifies questions on the fixed IP address topic.
    Robin

    That's a nicely-paced, thorough, and interesting video. I have no need of a robot arm like this, and, sadly, I don't have the loose cash to buy one as a toy! 🥴

    Thanks for posting this. We’re new to robotics and just ordered an mg400 to help us with a repetitive task in the shop. We’ll be using the suction cup with their small vacuum pump to pickup small parts. I’m wondering how you set it up to give that blast of air to release the part quicker. Thanks

    • @uptimefab7412
      @uptimefab7412  10 месяцев назад

      Hi, in the blockly program posted in the website article linked in the description (the left example screenshot for the vacuum cup) you van see some blocks for DO_01, which is vacuum and DO_02, which is compressed air. I just turn DO_01 on and off with some small delay in between. After this DO_02 is turned on and off, and with a small delay. You can play with the delay times to make sure it works properly. Hope the robot works for your application!

      @@uptimefab7412 Thanks for the quick reply! We received the robot yesterday and I realized that the Dobot vacuum pump can be switched to pressure as well. I thought it was vac only, and that we would need shop air and a solenoid or something for the blast of air. So it was a lot easier to setup than I expected.

    • @uptimefab7412

      Hi, I don't have the demo u it anymore, but from what I recall the gripper had a ground, 24v and a line which needed to be connected to one of the output ports of the MG400. Th output port is user selectable, just make sure you use the same port number in your program. Also be careful not to accidentally connect to find or 24v as these are right next to the output ports.

    • @uptimefab7412
      @uptimefab7412  3 месяца назад

      Hi, for the MG400 the vacuum pump is a separate accessory as some customers would only use a gripper and in that case don't need a vacuum pump. It is not the same as the one for Magician. It has different connections and is physically a different type.

    • @Art9240
      @Art9240 3 месяца назад

      @uptimefab7412 Thanks for the response. One would assume that they would provide a vacuum generator as only a suction cup was provided, not the gripper arm as you mentioned.

    • @uptimefab7412

      Sorry I might not have explained this very well. What I meant is that I received a vacuum cup with the demo unit, not that it is typically included with th MG400. Also, what is or is not included might differ per country and dealer, so make sure to check before buying.

    Great video how can i learn how to program this arm?

    • @uptimefab7412
      @uptimefab7412  10 месяцев назад

      Hi, the most straight forward way is probably to go through the manual and create the examples listed in it. This should cover most functionality. It can be downloaded from the Dobot website after creating a free account. The blockly method is in my experience quite easy to learn. What I typically do is just recreate all examples in the manual. The other option is to ask your local suppliers if they can provide training.

  • @alejandragonzalezmezahoffm3916

    Hello, I have seen your DOBOT video and i´m interested to purchase it for a cookie decorating process, i think this robot can help out me with my production, but I need a special gripper to handle the plastic bag and regulate the preassure. Do you think this device can solve my problem?
    I will apreciate your comments.
    Thank you.

    • @uptimefab7412
      @uptimefab7412  Год назад

      Hi, this sounds like a nice application. If you needs special gripper, maybe you can start out with one of the standard grippers which are available and modify that to your needs. I am not sure if you want to set the pressure manually or based on some sensor input, but both should be possible. For manual regulation you could just use a pressure regulator or even small leak valve. For automatic pressure setting you would have to get a commercially available pressure regulator that sets pressure based on an input voltage. You could connect that to one of the outputs of the MG400 and then control the pressure from you program. I do not think there is an off the shelf solution from Dobot, but making it yourself should be doable with the right parts.

    It is a fine robot, but it desperately needs a generous amount of yellow and black caution tape decoration(s).

    • @uptimefab7412
      @uptimefab7412  2 года назад

      Thanks, mostly it would make sense not to use any end effectors with hard edges or sharp features. In any custom setup a risk assessment would be in order, even with the built in safety features. A cobot is not inherently safe just because it stops when it encounters resistance. It does not know what is used for an end effector or where the user is.

    Fixed IP? That makes no sense at all, how do you run multiple robots on a single network…?

    • @uptimefab7412
      @uptimefab7412  2 года назад +1

      It does seem a bit odd, but there are 2 LAN ports. For port LAN1 the IP is fixed. This port has to be used for connecting to a PC. The manual says this port is for debugging on a PC, but it is also used for programming via the Dobot Studio software. For the second LAN port the IP address can be modified. Per the manual: "LAN2: For connecting to external equipment. The default IP address is 192.168.2.6, which can be modified". One would connect the robot to a PC on LAN1 only for setup and programming and connect it to LAN2 for communication to other equipment via the network. (I have not tested this). Thanks for asking, I did not cover this in the video, so it was a bit unclear. Will add a sticky comment. Hope this helps. Robin

    • @uptimefab7412

      Thanks for letting me know it comes across in the video. The high pitch can be a bit annoying especially when you are in a quiet environment. I noticed it quite well, but it might be different in a classroom or assembly environment where the noise level is significantly higher. There you probably would not notice it at all. Unfortunately it is difficult even with a RUclips video to to assess this due to where the microphone was and overall audio level for the video. Hope it helped anyway. Best, Robin
