A ponytail palm was on my wish list for quite some time and I finally saw some at my local nursery fb for a steal (at least in my mind) and I ran over the next day and got one last summer. They had various sizes and I was able to get a small one (probably around 10-12 inches tall and a 3" diameter trunk). They're supposed to be slow growers but mine has been pushing out new growth even over the fall and winter! The thing that I love about mine is that it was dead headed which made it push out five growth points from the top and not just the one...so it has a more full top. I don't love when they get bigger and only have one "ponytail"...I like the more full top. You should absolutely get one! Mine makes me smile every time I look at her...and of course I have to run my fingers through her hair😍😂
warning about the syngonium, Godzilla are MUCH more difficult to keep happy than others to keep happy. ive had them for 2 years and the rot very very easily. they're so beautiful but they really make you work for it!
When I first saw a Philo Billy I hated it. But then I couldn’t stop looking it up and thinking about it. Now it’s one of my favorite plants! It’s so weird how that can happen.
Ponytail palms are not closely related to true palms, at all! I treat mine as a succulent and it's SO happy. They will also tolerate pretty low light, for extended periods, if you move them around to a bright spot, for at least a few months a year 😁
i totally understand the random change of mind on plants! i cringed at money trees for yeaaaars, and i swear over night i fell in love and immediately got one. it’s one of my favorites right now!
i have a tortum and it's so so wonderful! i actually found it for around $50 in a 4" pot which was pretty shocking so i snagged it immediately lol. when people come to our apartment it's always the plant people gravitate towards and ask about. since i'm in upstate ny, i always say this is my version of a palm without getting a palm lol. totally recommend snagging one if you can because like you said, it has been such an easy plant to care for. plus, watching the new leaves unfurl and go from pink to green is always stunning ♡
that’s so sick! i love the comparison to a palm i didn’t even think about that. she’s probably #2 on this list for me so hopefully i can find a deal like that :)
Ahhhh Syngonium Godzilla is so cute!! I would love to have one in my collection but they’re a bit costly here in Australia at the moment (But I agree it deserves a cute terrarium lol)
I bought my mom a small pony tail palm when we moved into our new home and five years later she is a beauty! Thanks for sharing I just added to my list!! ❤
I got my tiny philo tortum in November for CA$15 in a 3" pot. I moved it to leca. It's doing well and finally putting out a new leaf. I want to take time lapse of it unfurling because the way their leaves unfurl is weird and fascinating and I love it haha
I was gifted a blue oil fern by kaylee and it is exactly like the photos. Without doing anything special the blue and the oil are just perfection! I do keep under high light in a grow tent. It’s a slow grower but has been so easy for me.
I almost purchased a tortume today but ending up not because I'm not sure I have that 360° like you mentioned. Love you picks!! I also imagine having some day q big house with a sunny living room and a huge statement Euphorbia in it :)
I just got a tortum last week, 7 euro (is about 7usd Ithink) for 2 decent sized growing points in a pot. leaves approx 20cm long. The price has really dropped here in the last few months ( I live in the Netherlands )
The euphorbias are cool. Had one and killed it. I may try again. Syngoniums hate me. They’re are beautiful, never heard of the Godzilla. Looks interesting. Keep us updated if you get any of these plants. My wish list includes a Hoya Wayetti Tri color, and some varieties of Sansiveria, possibly some succulents 🤷🏽♀️ like you I am not looking to buy any new plants. But if one dies that I currently have (because it didn’t survive the winter) then maybe.
What is that gorgeous full plant behind you on the stand ….and how many would you say is in that pot to get such a full luscious look? It really is a little stunner !
"I started liking plants that I used to dismiss" - 2024 Kat wishlist video will be something like "First thing on my wishlist is a Lithops". Jokes aside very interesting selection, as a cacty and suculent person I very much approve the Euphorbia, I have a common 45 cm E. trigona and it's such a statement, we actually decorated it as a Christmas tree at my office this year The ammak looks so cool with it's ghostly pale green colour. My 2022 wishlist (take in consideration that it's hard to even find houseplants where I live so I usually gravitate to what others would think as common plants) was: a Stephania erecta, a Pilea and a Snakeplant, I got all three of them (my dirty potato is currently sprouting!!!). Now for 2023 I want to add a Scindapsus to my collection followed by a whale-fin snakeplant, possibly a butterwart or some other kind of insectivorous plant and I want to try and grow an Anthurium in water only.
I have a mid cut Philodendron Tortum and it’s doing really well so far. Love it. I have had it a couple of months and I’m planning on potting it up in the spring. 🤞hope it’s very well rooted by then.
I love the Godzilla. Definitely on my wishlist. The Tortum is also one for me that I wasn't drawn to in the beginning but the more I see it the more I want one.
PS: just looked at the online plant store that I usually shop from and they finally have Dioscoreas! (definitely getting one!) and they are also selling 60 cm tortums for the equivalent of 30$ and they look very healthy and full! (plants in Europe can bee soooo cheap when you manage to actually find them)
also i saw a tortum in florida a couple weeks ago and have to do the take and bunch of pictures and put it back and i’m about to catch a flight specifically for that plant
Tell me your secrets. I have one and it is the slowest growing syngonium I have ever had. I have had this thing for 6 months and I have gotten only 2 leaves and lost 2. 😢
@Vicky It's only hot and humid here in Western PA in the summer. I'll have to try and find a spot for her outside. Ty for the advice. We'll see what happens.
"For all have sinned and come (fall) short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our LORD." Romans 6:23 "But God commendeth (demonstrated) His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 "That if thou shalt confess with your mouth the LORD Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him (Jesus) from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation ." Romans 10:9-10 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved." Romans 10:13
I have a few plants that I'm eyeing, but I'm surprised with myself that I'm not really super drawn to getting a plant this year. I guess among my "wishlist" would be a philodendron bobcee, a philodendron billietiae, a philodendron splendid, and honestly? If I don't look up any other plants and see something I like, I couldn't think of what else to add in that list. I want a philodendron tortum bad but I already have one, all it needs is to root again after being in poor shape. I also wanted a philodendron gigas but I was given a rehab one and I'm trying to glow it up too. I'd like to get my hands on other anthurium species, but I'm truly broke and I'm not strongly itching for buying any right now. And even though I own two (magnificum and radicans), I'm still intimidated to get into the ones that require specific conditions. There are many other plants in my official wishlist that I would want to own someday, but they're not even common in the market from my part of the world. It's interesting how much less of a desire I have to obtain plants when they're really beyond reach. This year seems like a "nurture your collection and obtain only what is accessible" year for me
i completely agree with your perspective on plant shopping this year! there’s no need to overextend ourselves or our finances. i’ve also been interested in the philos you mentioned but i’m taking it super easy this year…if i get any of them then it was meant to be!
I have been absolutely swooning over crawling philodendrons lately.
Derek Gager sells tortums and damaged tortums every once in a while in his auctions, probably the cheapest you’ll find that’s rooted
The Tortum is still my top wishlist plant.
such a good one!
I got one this year and it got so huge so fast. I traded for one leaf in a group so worth it
Me too! I need it!

My wishlist plant is Hoya sunrise!
i love that plant :)
Syngonium lover here - never seen the Godzilla, but your emotional reaction to leaving it behind has me tearing up.
Medium size sanseveria starfish is on my list. 😁
All good ones, will be good to get any of them,I’m still hunting for a monstera Peru ...

You’re reaction to the Syngonium Godzilla made me hit subscribe. So sweet. 🥲

Pretty similar in Canada too. You can get a 4” pot for about $10 here.
Your attitude towards blue oil palm is exactly how I've been feeling about them recently 😆

PS: just looked at the online plant store that I usually shop from and they finally have Dioscoreas! @@Chantellmeaboutit Secret Garden, a Romanian store, they ship internationally but it's risky at this time of the year.
Wanting a philodendron billie

My Syngonium Godzilla is amazing. So so easy.
OMGGGG that is so good to know
Tell me your secrets. I have one and it is the slowest growing syngonium I have ever had. I have had this thing for 6 months and I have gotten only 2 leaves and lost 2. 😢
I think my only secret is I live in hot and humid Texas and my Syngonium are outside most of the year.
@Vicky It's only hot and humid here in Western PA in the summer. I'll have to try and find a spot for her outside. Ty for the advice. We'll see what happens.
💚💚
Ponytail palms aren’t palms. They’re actually in the agave family.
thank you for the info!
First!
My wish list is so basic and boring
