I have just arrived Toronto for few mos. It’s going to be my first winter here in Canada. I like your style, simple and comfortable. Now I am a bit regret for what I have brought here from my own country . What a waste of rooms😅
Thanks so much! I know, I also brought several useless items that then went to donation. But now worries, now you can enjoy the process of slowly collecting your Canada Winter wardrobe!
The funny part is most downtown students walk in winter with running shoes. Lower cost outdoor equipment stores (such as MEC) have good clearances starting from January or so
It would be really helpful if you make a video on part-time jobs for international students in winters. BTW, I really admire your work. Keep it up one day you will get great results...
Thank you making this video from my request! Great work as usual. A bit of a note that if you add the video chapter (timestamp that skip to a certain part of video), it will be a lot easier if we circle back and want to watch a certain part of the video.
Glad to hear that! This one is not specifically on jackets, but winter essentials, but I talk a bit about winter jackets too: ruclips.net/video/jyh4ljNlNPU/видео.html
Hi dear, This would be my first fall and autumn in Canada, I wanna know where I can get some stylish and a little bit warm clothes for fall or autumn…😊
Hi lovely, we are landing in peak winters in Jan 2023 (3rd week) in Toronto Downtown. We would really appreciate if you can suggest the deals available in Jan after Christmas. Would you recommend Toronto Premium outlets or winners/ Marshall’s/ Hudson day deals? It’s very difficult to know any insight on this… would really appreciate your help.
Good tips except for considering Winners as a first option for winter boots! Winners is a liquidation/clearance store and if you are super lucky you’ll find something great but don’t go there unless you already know what you are looking for and just want to check if they have something similar.
Thank you! You're right, you can't always find good stuff there. It usually takes a few visits and some luck to find a really good deal. I guess I was lucky so far! Besides winners, shopping online is great because it's easy to compare products and prices.
Idk if you can see every individual who watches your videos like on TikTok, but if you could, you’d see that I just binged like 5 of your videos lol I am STRESSING. I’ve never been to Canada, especially in the winter. I’m from south Texas and we are definitely not used to the kind of winter you’re probably used to. I just don’t want to overspend on buying a bunch of expensive things like winter boots for the beginning of December, which is when I’m going. I would really like someone to tell me how cold/what’s the weather like in early December so I’m that I’m sufficiently prepared.
It will probably be around -5ºC or so , earlier December, could be colder. Boots are definitely a must, especially once it starts snowing. I would wait until you're here and buy your stuff here so you can adapt to whatever you need.
So, do all the condo lobbies and businesses have tons of slush or debris being tracked into the condos/businesses? What is the etiquette for bringing snowy, shlushed shoes into a place?
Usually in the winter they will have heavy duty mats laid out, so part of the slush/water will remain there. Of course there's always a residual. I always to my best to shake of any liquid on the mats so people won't slip. I guess that's what the etiquette should be. Not everyone adheres to it though so always be careful when walking.
It really depends on whether you get cold around the legs easily. I can easily do with a hip-length jacket, as I freeze most on top. But a jacket that covers mid-thighs, or even to the knees really adds a layer of warmth.
Mine are very good, they're from Rockport (the ones in the thumbnail). For light snow they work well, especially because of the heel. For heavier snow and ice I recommend using winterboots (the columbia ones in the video)
I would start by getting one pair, and then based on that see what you need. After you've tried walking in them, you'll get a better idea what else you need. Personally, I like to have 2 pairs (in case one gets wet from rain/snow), I have a higher winter boot, and a more 'fancy' one like you see in the thumbnail.
@@LivinginCanada thanks , very helpful and very timely video indeed. Please make a video on US visits on B1 / B2 visa. My US F1 visa is pending and I am Canadian PR. Do you think they will reject my visitor visa application?
Sorry, I'm not too familiar with US visas. But from what I heard it's taking an awful long time to just get an appointment right now, because of the backlog from the pandemic. That's what seems to be the case.
Currently, I work at home. But when I was still working at the office, I would have a pair of 'regular' shoes under the desk, just to feel more comfortable. Hope that helps!
oh boy, terrible suggestions here (sorry), touching a sole does not indicate how good the boot/shoe is, suggest people Google actual reviews which measures waterproofing, types of rubber the boots are made of to prevent slipping and actual insulation for warmth.
That's just a first indication, the first thing one can do while in the store faced with a shoe. It's certainly not conclusive. To know for sure how well it will do under harsh weather conditions I second your advice to research further on google.
Watch how I switch from summer to WINTER wardrobe in my newest video: ruclips.net/video/-8TVRiPCHkQ/видео.html ❄🧥
I've been hunting for a pair all month! It's going to be my first winter, ever. Thanks for sharing. :)
Glad if this was useful, happy shoe hunting! And, enjoy your first winter here!

Are you looking forward to the Winter? ❄
The snow on the trees looks pretty, the night sky is best for stargazing, and cozy clothes and warm boots/shoes get worn! 😁🌬️❄️🥶❤️

Thank you!! Good to know that timestamps are useful. I will try my best to add some of those in in the future!
Loved the details and examples covered in the video. This will help us retain the key points when we go to buy shoes.
Thank you, I'm glad to hear that the details were useful!
I bought the boot Lace Up Waterproof Thermoball The North Face. I did the Mountain Trail with her, it’s a wonderful comfort 😍👏🏻👏🏻
thanks for sharing these ideas! What's the tone used in background for the video?
lol you got me at the "warmest everything" i'm literally hunting for those to prepare me for my 1st winter in Toronto 😅
No harm in doing that, especially if you feel cold easily! After a while living hear you can fine tune your 'need for warmth' and switch it up!
This is really helpful!!! I’ve been looking for winter boots for 3 days for my first winter in Toronto!
Thanks, a really useful advice. Could you please make a similar video about choosing a winter jacket for Toronto temperatures?

Great reviews! Thanks. Happy New Year! 😁
YakTrax, etc. help with making shoes/boots better for slippery Winter walkways! 🥶❄️🌬️❤️😁
Thanks for the suggestion! Happy new year too!
Very practical thank you so much ☺️ ❤
i am an international student and this helpful
Glad to hear!
Awesome Video!! Thank you!! 💕
Thanks for watching!

Do we need parka's that cover us till mid-thighs? Its my 1st winter here

@@LivinginCanada ok, have you been to the U.S. on B1 / B2 visa? If yes, will you please make a video on it ??
Are they good for snowy conditions when you travel by ttc 🇨🇦 public transport and 15 20 mins walks?
Hi there! Which shoes are you referring to, is it the boots on the thumbnail?
I mean the ankle boots? Any one you recommend?

Hi in August 2023, my first winter is coming
Hope you enjoy it!
How much did you Columbia shoes cost?
It's been a while ago, about 2-3 years ago they cost around $110-120, but I got them on sale (and used a coupon!) so it ended up costing close to $90.

Which winter boots do you like that is waterproof and excellent traction? Can you give your favourite pls

Buy some warm boots
Wear them on bare feet
And enjoy the Winter
Walking through the snow
You definitely do not want shoes that make your feet sweat.
Great tip don’t move to Canada, and if you are not here in Canada, don’t move here
If I were not in Canada yet, I'd seriously reconsider moving here.
@@LivinginCanadawhat had you considered then
You should consider starting an ASMR channel.
Haha, thought of that at some point!!
