This one is quite embarrassing really, but I was trying to decide what piano sound to use, and then I figured that I might as well ask a few people. So I made this little video.
It's just a K61 midi controller. It doesn't have any sounds included, so you have to plug it into a computer or sound bank to get audio! So these are three different sounds that I have on my computer.
Grand 2 has the sound of a concert grand piano, that would be my pick. Having been a Music major in school, I always preferred playing the grand piano to an upright or keyboard. Just my opinion. Steve
It depends; for what will it be used, specifically? "Future videos & recording, and stuff" is a wee bit broad. I can see how each could be fully appropriate in different situations. Pressed for an answer, I'd say: The Grand 2 (A happy medium) heavy enough to evoke emotion, yet light enough to not sound muddled. Cheers & Good Luck!
They all sound good to my ears, but I must agree that the Garritan Orchestra sounds very deep and. . . hmmm, maybe "least like a keyboard trying to sound like a piano." Thanks for asking us
Grand 2 is the most well balanced I find, it's clear and bright and has a nice sustain,Truepianos has a nice pre-produced sound, but it is muffled, that wouldn't give you as much control over the final tone of your recording.
Comparing all, the Orchestral has a largo sound to it, while Grand and True have a more smooth light sound to it. Now depending on what sound you're trying to get I feel the Orchestral would be able to move or sharpen your notes. I'd use Grand or True if you're not gonna hit the volume more of a mezzo forte. And orchestral if you want a passionate sound. Thought they are all quite wonderful.
It took me a second to realize that yeah, he's playing the same notes and chords, but with different sound settings on the piano!! I like the Grand 2 best, it's more concise but still has a rich sound that will play well over videos.
nevermind where are you from YOU ARE AMAZING! :D by the way...TruePianos seems to be the best :) CHEERS FROM CZECH REPUBLIC :D but I also taught you are British when you said Hello ..:D
The Garritan, you can hear each note better, the Grand 2 and True Pianos make it sound mashed together and like each note is fighting to be heard. When you can hear each on clearly it creates a richer sound that is enjoyable to hear.
Grand 2 sounds more percussive (you hear the impact of the hammer hitting the string louder...Jordan Rudess style ;)) so if your playing a song like you did here with broken chords then use that. Having said that Garritan Orchestra would be better for ordinary softer songs like the FFX song etc that you have been playing recently! hope this helps. Love the MGS2 soundtrack from your other Video thanks
Garritan sounds the best I think. Grand 2 is brighter than that and TruePianos, but it doesn't sound as pleasing, and TruePianos kinda sounds a bit flat.
Fredde! it's nice to see a new video. The Grand 2 is really nice : )

Dudeeee! True Pianos! Although they all sound gorgeous! ;)

@Freddegreddet Ive never heard of that. Sounds cool. So you can get tons of cool effects. Awesome!
The Grand 2 is my preference. But can you finally give some statistics based on the user feedbacks? Thanks!
The Garritan Orchestra sounds marvellous!
Grand 2! I think its sound is more definite than the others. Actually I don't like too much reverbs. Good luck for your choice ^^
I like the Grand 2. What piano is that?

Garritan or Grand 2. I can't decide. I'm stillloving your album I got signed and shipped, by the way. 3 Casondra from the USA!
I liked how the Grand 2 sounded when you played it.
They all sound good to my ears, but I must agree that the Garritan Orchestra sounds very deep and. . . hmmm, maybe "least like a keyboard trying to sound like a piano."
Thanks for asking us
Grand 2. It sounds more full and vibrant. Plus it really fill a room!
So that we can compare the three sounds better?
Jesus...
I like the second! :3 I don't think my mum would let me buy your album.. But could I have a drawing anyway? :3
True piano!

I love the depth of Garritan. It has a very good mixture of both attack and reverb. I'd say Garritan hands down.
Ggarritan orchestar :)
You got nice pianos on Hypersonic,Halion,Sample tank 2 XL,halionsonic...
Also there's KONTAKT and Reason 5.
Try them out.
can you please tell me from which song this piano riff is ? ... by the way truepiano is my favorite one
Grand 2 indeed. Smoother and warmer and just over more solid sounding
grand 2
seems to be the more balanced one and i like the little chorus
grad 2
cant wait for a new video

True pianos!
true pianos, sir
True piano has various piano sounds and you can modulate as you want.
I liked the first most, then the last one (true piano), then the middle one (grand2).
The Garritan, you can hear each note better, the Grand 2 and True Pianos make it sound mashed together and like each note is fighting to be heard. When you can hear each on clearly it creates a richer sound that is enjoyable to hear.
Garritan sounds great!
What's the little exerpt he plays, where's it from?
You should get CineSamples' Piano In Blue.
True piano
True Pianos!
cannot really decide between Garritan or Grand 2
Grand 2 for sure :D
I really like your facial expression when you play the piano..
Hey fredde, will you be in stockholm this weekend??
Grand 2 is my favorite :)
The first one! The orchestra one! It has deeper and wormer sound
I like both the Garritan and the Grand 2.
the Grand 2, for sure
Grand 2 sounds more percussive (you hear the impact of the hammer hitting the string louder...Jordan Rudess style ;)) so if your playing a song like you did here with broken chords then use that. Love the MGS2 soundtrack from your other Video
thanks
Grand 2 was my favorite.
Defanitely the grand2 for more upbeat or general music :P but the garratin for much more dramatic and expressive music ! :D
layer al 3 of 'em!
The grand 2 but we don't know what song you will play :)
I love the TruePianos most D:
My favourite is the Garritan one.
I think the first one in the video was the best sounding.
True Grand Orchestra is by far my favorite.
its not embarrassing, dw :) i think The Grand 2 sounded the best, greets from Holland!!!!
Grand 2!
Yeah, it's the same piece over and over again but different settings on the keyboard to get richer sounds from it.
Grand two, the lighter dynamics are more natural and higher dynamics are bombastic :)
TruePiano or Grand 2, most definitely! :)
Grand 2. Definitely.
True pianos :)
Either the Grand 2 or TruePianos!!
Grand 2 !!
TruePianos. Right away I fell in love with TruePianos.
I like the Garritan Orchestra(:
The Grand 2 =D
the grand 2, sounds better, its more soft. :-] evident everyone likes the grand 2 hah Love ur videos.
Grand 2 for sure
Number one.
I think the first has a full tone, but for recording purposes you should stick to the 2nd cause it is indeed mor balanced
TruePianos is the smoothest so i'd go with that
Garritan Orchestra has the nicest tune. and imo it sound more real then the rest.
Garriton!
Grand 2, sounds brighter than the rest...
Wich Keyboard did you have?
the first one :)
true pianos!
I like Garritan Orchestra the best! But if you were doing a darker, softer song, I'd say True Pianos!
Best
The Garritan has the fullest sound. It sounds like the pianos get thinner and tinnier as the choices go on.
True pianos.
Grand 2. It has the warmest sound, I think.
True Pianos sounds very soft, I like it.
But Grand 2 sounds sharp and more energetic in a way...
._.
Garritan sounds the best I think. Grand 2 is brighter than that and TruePianos, but it doesn't sound as pleasing, and TruePianos kinda sounds a bit flat.
True pianos
True Pianos
I dont like Grand 2
True pianos has more sound shaping options I think
And the first one seems ok
True Pianos.
I like The Grand 2. It sounds like it has more gusto.
True piano has a very rich sound and tone with an overall better sound.
I like the Grand 2 the best :)
GRAND 2!!!!!
I'd say Garritan if it's a piano-centric song, and the Grand 2 if the piano is going to be background.
Am I the only one who likes the TruePiano's the most?! The Gran Piano sounds electronic in the lower octaves.
Grand 2 :)
The Grand 2 ;-)
Grand 2!! XD
True Piano, defenitly, clear sound and nothing "electronical" in the background.
Garritan Orchestra :D
