    Just a suggestion, on lead use Olic acid instead of Ruby for your flux. It does not sizzle and cause bubbles in the solder plus it's what the old German masters used. Also, you can not beat a 200 watt American Beauty iron with a Paragon tip.

    • @ARTyRV
      @ARTyRV  Месяц назад

      We use Ruby Flux because it doesn’t smoke nor does it cause bubbles in solder. It’s water based, low odor and easy clean up. You can find the products we recommend here: Check out this page from artyrvglassstudio www.amazon.com/shop/artyrvglassstudio

    I am now inspired to do a window with came using some purple cathedral that keeps floating up in my vision. Grateful for all the tips, these videos are really valuable and will be appreciated for years to come by many. Looking forward to seeing the images of the Oak Project when it is installed. The actual serious mistakes I have made in glass have been in color. If you could touch on this it may help others. I twice have used a wrong blue and they were not even for a picture, just a stylized design. The first time just made the window seem sad as it was a sky color. It was a pretty blue but seen against the natural sky I realized it was a sad sky color. Another time it was an imitation German glass turquoise that I thought would be pretty with some bevels and off white opalescent in a small transom window. It too was sad. I do set my glass in a window and look at it for days in different light but as a person who does not have much experience viewing actual windows it's a little daunting knowing one wrong color will throw my dream out the window. Short of copying someone else's color scheme in a situation with some complexity it's a bit of a crap shoot.
    So I guess I'll play it safe with my purple cathedral window. I'll use some bevels and maybe clear with texture/iridescent. I just want purple.
    I know I don't want any amber near it. I just made three panels with a stylized tulip design and they are understated and have a lot of amber going on. They are pretty but no wonder I want purple after that. Why did people so often put purple and amber together in windows back in the day? For heavens sake! Lol!

      You have what I call color anxiety. Don’t worry . Color theory is a learned practice and there is a ton of info out there to help you. The best place to start is by looking and studying the colors of windows you really like. Then you can work those same colors into your design. Also take a look at the colors designers are using in fabric colors . This will give you ideas as well. My father-in-law used to say every color goes together. And in the words of Dale Chihuly “I never met a color I didn’t like!” Have fun and enjoy!

    • @StGammon77
      @StGammon77 2 года назад

      Careful measuring and patterns if needed. We come in 1/8 inch from that. The windows have an h-lead border that can be easily trimmed on -site when installed if needed. Great question. Thanks for watching!

    I have a project to make a game of echeck alternating between very thick 15mm glass pieces and normal 3mm ones
    two problems arise
    A cutting 17mm glass is very difficult is there a technique better than another
    B the side of the pieces remains dull how do you make them transparent
    I have tried with a grinder or a vetical sandblaster on Sunday it remains dull I still have to try with a plasma torch maybe
    what do you recommend
    thanks in advance
