I work with Rocket Universe every day and Rocket's training is abysmal. I've learned so much from your MV videos! PLEASE do more more more!!! I, for one, appreciate it, sir. Thanks so much.
I'm glad the videos are helpful! The third video about Basic programming came out this morning, but that's probably all I'll cover for now unless there are some specific areas you think might make for a good topic for another video.
Thanks for the video! 1:43 Looks like Rocket was trying to be only major player in the Multivalue DB market. They also bought VMark Software which gave them UniVerse & UniData, today sold as IBM UniVerse. Surprisingly, IBM didn’t bother with z/OS native port?
Yeah -- the last time I looked at UniVerse (quite a while ago), it was actually owned by IBM. IBM bought it from VMark, then later IBM sold it to Rocket.
@@MatthewMainframes Thanks for answer; You are right, but it’s even more complicated, I just looked: VMark Software and UniData merged to form Ardent in ‘97, but then Ardent got bought by Informix in 2000; then in 2001 IBM bought the database division of Informix and in 2009 Rocket purchased the entire U2 portfolio from IBM. Which makes “conspiratory” me only more convinced that I had right hunch when I said: “Rocket was trying to be only major player in the Multivalue DB market” 😉 Maybe they saw some trend or found niche others have missed?
