  • Last night, we saw one of the most phantom bad calls in March Madness history in the Kansas vs Samford game, but because of the rule system in college basketball, it was pretty much the only thing that could not be reviewed. Today, I want to talk about this call and why refereeing is broken in college basketball, enjoy!

Do refs have too much power in college sports?

Yes but they need to know how to make the right calls. They miss calls yesterday in the Wagner vs North Carolina game even though NC was up by a lot vs Wagner.

I just finished watching the Florida Colorado game. It was the same thing in that one. The final shot of the game got away with a push off and the Gators had a player foul out who should have only had 3 fouls but they called 2 on him when they shouldn't have. The refs in sports are all bad but they are _the worst_ in college basketball and they have way too much power and affect the games way too much.

I am so sick of the same song and dance. Refs make bad calls all game, a team wins, and anyone who questions the truly abhorrent referee fixing is immediately ratioed and told to cope, even if you don't have a dog in that fight. Nothing happens because of this. We are no better than the WWE.
If you want to see change, write their names down. Say their names. Protest their decisions. Make them face the consequences of their greed and ego. Do not let them get away with fixed officiating. It is making college basketball a fake sport, and it is our job as fans to make it right.

I’m a Samford alumni. I was heartbroken. This would have been our first win in school history in the NCAA tourney. The foul really tipped the scales and decided the game.

Im often amazed when watching a player go up for a shot and no one touches them and then the whistle! If someone is even close often a foul is called, especially if the shooting player falls as they so often do! Almost every layup ends up with the shooter falling for no reason! So, so, so many horrible calls!!

Folks, it doesn’t matter what game, or what year you are talking about D-1 college basketball officiating is horrible. Many obviously bad calls, some “automatic whistles” sometimes even before the play is completed!! Anybody who’s watched many games, in person or on tv knows ow what I’m talking about. They get caught up in the emotion of the crowd and it influences some of their calls, a coach keeps badgering them, some have admitted (when not being recorded) they will make calls to punish that coach or to shut him up.
Some refs are decent some are horrible (think little chubby Jim Burr - Big East ref in the ‘90’s and early 2000’s, who couldn’t even get up and down the court but would call a foul more than 1/2 court away, and got away with it!!) Some (Doug Shows) hate certain coaches (John Calipari) and deliberately make bad calls against his team because of his personal feelings. It’s ALL WRONG, but it happens year after year.
Why? Because they are not held accountable. There is no review board, or repercussions for bad officiating. They are contractors, NOT EMPLOYEES of NCAA.
Until they are made to be employees of the NCAA or some governing body, who can be held accountable, retrained, or fired, the bad, INCONSISTENT officiating will continue to ruin the game, change the outcome of many games, league play and tournaments.
Some like to think “it all evens out” need to stop taking drugs. It NEVER evens out. One team always gets the shorter end of the stick. You people are just kidding yourselves. Every bad call effects the true flow of the game.
So, how do we as fans change that? I don’t have a clue. But that is the true state of the game and has been for many years and just keeps getting worse in my opinion.

Rules change is the tip of the iceberg. I just finished watching the Iowa vs WVU game yesterday and the foul discrepancy was horrible lol. Iowa comitted 11 fouls to WVU who comitted 27 fouls😅. How does that seem realistic at all all they do is continue to mess the games up. South Carolina comitted 14 fouls vs UNC who comitted 17 fouls but SC won 88-41 so apparently they didnt need the discrepancy in order to win by a blowout.

I think a coach should have two challenges a game just like the NFL and college football. That was this kind of stuff would be helped at least.

I was at the game and the missed travel on Achors dunk down the lane just two plays earlier was just as bad and pivotal. He studder stepped so bad before dribbling, it was horrible.

I try not to put the blame on the refs because it's a hard job but I definitely think challenges are allowed. In real time I can see a ref or anyone say that's a foul on Samford

  • @stonecoldku4161
    @stonecoldku4161 5 месяцев назад +2

The refs were bad the entire game. There were missed calls both ways, Samford was fouling during their presses, and nothing called, Samford players flopped on more than one occasion and got the calls, Kansas jumped on loose ball were clearly calling timeout, but the refs ignored it. It was ruled a jump ball, Samford got it and knocked in a three to be behind one. Was the block clean and shouldn't have been a foul? Yes. Did it look like a foul in real time without the benefit of replay? Yes.
Bad calls happen, they happen throughout the game and at times both teams benefit from those bad calls. It's too bad that this one happened when it did. But let's look at a few other stats. Kansas shot 60% from the field, Samford shot 53.8% from the foul line, Samford had 20 fouls called on them, Kansas had 21 fouls called on them. I think it's stats like that, that helped determine the game as well.

What looks un-athletic about this guy? Plenty of muscle, moves great without the ball and a nice vertical to get over guys on a lot of your clips. Kind of a dumb take.
