Chuck has been my hero (STILL IS) since I was 15 in 1987! As much as I loved my high school it was Chuck who made me want to learn about my people! It was Chuck who made me go to the library on a summer Saturday afternoon while my homeboys were playing football and having cookouts In the park! "I'll slide thru later, got some work to do at the library first!" Chuck made me learn who Malcolm and Chesimard were. Huey and Bobby as well Denmark and Dred and Farrakhan (another hero!) He started me down the path of Black Nationalism and at 49 I am enjoying the journey! God bless ya soul and keep living MistaChuck!

I was on the ground in Arizona and I was listening. To speak to Chuck on Tavis Smiley's BET show and personally thank him for what he did for ALL ARIZONANS was a highlight in my life.
As great as I thought he was when I met him in Tempe at an after-set, The King Day effort put him in a stratosphere reserved for the best of the Movement.

This man Chuck D should be the Ambassador of Hip Hop. He's well rounded in his views; he has the age and experience.

We are in Big trouble as human beings in control of our own thoughts when information like this, from 2001, in 2018, thats 17yrs into the millennium, has so few views. And even less comments, concerns and conversation. Who's actually in control of human thoughts, ideas, and conclusions?

Elvis stole nothing, LIttle Richard who was a friend of Elvis said:
"Elvis was an intergrator, he opened doors for us to come through"
He also said "He was the most electrifiying artist to see live"
Elvis had his first hit "Thats Alright Mama" in 1954.
Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and Bo Diddiley all had their first hits in 1955. ELvis was influenced by Big Boy Crudup, Willie DIxon, Muddy Waters etc from blues
One thing that seems to be ignored is Rock and Roll was not just blues-it was a combination of country, blues, pop of the era and gospel music. All 4 of these became rock and roll.
BUT he was also influenced by Eddy Arnold, Hank Snow, Hank WIlliams etc from country music.
And influenced by Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole and others from pop music of the era
NOT to forget he was born in Tupelo Mississippi and lived on the poor black side of town where he went to black and white churches and loved gospel music. He "organically" was drenched in the black culture of the south,
I must point out that Chuck Berry was influenced greatly by country artists-his first hit "Maybelline" was actually a country artist Bob Wills song from the 40s "Ida Red" that Chuck wrote new lyrics for and sped up.
No one says Chuck stole from country-he was influenced by country.
Ray Charles had several hits with "cover versions" of country songs-some of the first music he heard as a child was from the "
Grand ole Opry on radio. He was influenced by country-no one says he stole from it.
BB King who was a great friend with Elvis said:
"Once a music is exposed to us, anyone can take or add to it -music is for everyone" and he added "to me they did not get it wrong when they called him the King"
