not all vacuum sealed cups perform the same. In numerous independent tests of different brands, Stanley performed consistently within the Top 3 in terms of being able to retain temperature for longer.
Not all vacuum sealed cups are equal and their performance widely varies from brand to brand. I have no doubt that the $5 cup would perform worse than Stanley. The manufacturing process might be similar, but it’s different coating and different metal alloys effect the temperature retaining properties differently. The vacuum ceiling aspect is only one aspect of the energy retention properties of the cups and there are other aspects that go into improving the performance over longer periods of time. cheap cups may keep your water cold for two hours but but other companies like Stanley can keep them cold for 6 to 10 hours because of the material coating and order materials that’s are used which other brands don’t use due to cost saving measures.
There are much cheaper vacuum sealed cups on Amazon, but they don’t perform nearly as well as the Stanley. Stanley also include a lifetime warranty rusting, leakage, and other defects which other brands don’t give and that factors into the cost.
It’s like comparing AirPods to cheap $20 wireless earbuds. Both will have the same basic features of being able to wirelessly connect to the iPhone once they’re taking out of the case but they won’t have the same quality of audio and other features that sets the more expensive AirPods apart.
