  • Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite and it's a major move towards signing the 21-year-old centre-back.
But is he worth anywhere near the £70m price Everton want? Do Everton need to sell before the PSR deadline of 30 June and if so, what does that mean?
Let me explain the full story of Branthwaite to Man United so far and why United are pushing so hard to sign him.

We should offer £50M - £55M max and £130k - £140k in wages if we do that it will be a great deal and I'll be happy with that, Jarrad is certainly talented he's 6'4 aswell which is amazing he'll be good in aerial duals and will have good pace we need to be smart it should be like taking it or leaving it between £50M and £55M 60M or 70M will not work we need signings in other areas too.

  • @Hugh_Jurrection

Regardless of the price & wages (because that's just the crazy finances of football), I see why Branthwaite would be a first-choice signing for United. He is the type of player who would be in every starting lineup but potentially in a different position across the back line. This gives tactical flexibility but also will improve him dramatically as a player. One thing not mentioned about him was his man-marking. He's extremely good at this and I could see why such an intimidating specimen such as he could be utilized in that way. Perhaps this is what ten hag has in mind?
Potentially, United could switch to a 3 at the back with Martinez pushing forward and becoming a link with midfield (much like he did at Ajax). United could bring in another centre back and there you have 2 big stoppers with Martinez and Mainoo sitting in front progressing the play.

Just want to say: i think ineos see first signing of the summer as the most important. It will shape how the public see ineos reign. The first signings should be exciting, ambitious n smart. Thats why i dont think we will pay jb for 70. No chance. It is exciting n ambitious but not smart. Imo yoro fit all 3, but madrid also want him, so i think its game over for us. Now IF de ligt is listed at 40-50, we should go for him

Micky van de ven is on £50k and is arguably one of the best cb in the league. Gabriel in the arsenal defence, the best defence in the league, makes £100k and is a seasoned pro with an improved contract. Salibas new deal is £190k and he's probably the best cb in the world now. Ake's new dewl at city, the best team in the world probably, is £140k and he's helped win everything you can win.
So you cant put bloody branthwaite on £160k. Madness. Done nothing, young, and not even going to a champions league team, we'rein europa ffs! 🤷🏻‍♂️ same old mistakes. Paying galactico money for average players. 👏👏🙄

How can foreign players be motivated to perform when a 21 year old stock defender gets paid 150k a week. It's insanity. Tell Everton to shaft themselves for that price. You can get a much better defender from any other league in Europe or South America for a fraction of the price.
I couldnt believe how United paid 60 bar for Mount, Arsenal paid 100 bar for Rice, and City scored Kovacic for 30... He's far better than both. When England stop putting so much "Star Power" on their own players then maybe the English players will start to perform consistently. Look what happened to Rashford, Saka, Sancho, Graelish, Rice and all of the young players that were suddenly put on ridiculous wages. They stopped caring about the game and cared more about the money and fame.

As an Everton fan of over 50 years, and season ticket holder, I will give you my honest opinion on what I have seen week in week out, Branthwaite is one of the best players I’ve seen in a long long time.
There is no better English centre half in my opinion, the guy has got the lot, if you honestly believe Branthwaite is not worth more than 50 Million, you could end up losing out on one of the best talents.
You may have got mugged off on McGuire but I really hope Everton stick to their guns around the price and utd walk away, I would rather lose out on a sale, even take a points deduction and keep hold of the player, you may scoff at the price now, but in a couple of years time, his value will shoot way past the £70 Million mark.
Take it from someone who has seen him week in week out, you will not find another defender like Branthwaite, he is a one off, will go to the very top.

If Everton sell Onana, be no need to sell Branthwaite, especially with new owners in, as for not being worth that, for a 21 year old future regular England centre half who will have over a decade of football in him, his value will only go up, I agree with ridiculous prices players are going for today, but if Utd struck a deal for around £60 Million, he will be worth every penny.
I really hope Everton keep him, I’ve never seen a player with so much talent for a long long time, some Evertonians will say every youngster coming through is a superstar, me on the other hand with watching Everton in the mid seventies, there are only three youngster I’ve seen and known they are going to the very top in the Premier league era, they were Rooney, Gordon and Branthwaite.
