As an (almost) Atlanta native, I realized that Stone Mountain park wasn’t mentioned, which has been a staple attraction for as long as I can remember. It fits in with the many outdoor attractions mentioned, as you can hike up the enormous granite monolith, go camping, fishing, attend seasonal festivals, etc., and it’s within close proximity to the city itself, fyi.
Went there in 2018 great city. Loved King Center, Jimmy Carter Museum, Coke Museum, ate at Varsity, Toured Mercedes Benz Stadium then Margaret Mitchell Museum where Gone With the Wind was wrote. Then took CNN tour before leaving back to Ok. Plus met Robin Meade from HLN morning express before going off air. Want to go back see some more stuff a lot to see. Need at least 2-3 full days to get experience for sure.
I agree you definitely need several days to get the most out of a trip to Atlanta! Thanks for watching, and thanks for sharing al of your great tips and memories! 🙏🏻😀
Dah-LON-uh-ga……my niece went to college there. There are lots of new places by your friends since I moved from Atlanta. I’ll have to visit some next time I’m there.
I'll be passing through Atlanta on the trip to and home from Florida this year. I definitely want to visit the Atlanta Zoo and might visit the Coca Cola museum.
Good question! We actually didn't spend enough time in Athens to really say, since this was such a quick trip. I think it deserves its own long weekend! (for research, of course 😀)
Eliz and Derek, you mentioned you went to Nearby Athens, Ga. I would like to mention that Athens is the birthplace of Southern Rock Music, bands like The Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker , Charlie Daniels and Lynyrd Skynyrd. There is the music walk of fame. Harriet and I also enjoyed Atlanta and its Food Markets and Restaurants. If there is a don't to mention. It's Hartsfield Airport in Atlanta. Very Busy and Very Difficult. Great info to know when traveling to Atlanta and surrounding cities. Sending you lots of love💖💖💖 Harriet, Jim and Yuki. Richmond. Va.
Eliz, Atlas Obscura just did a podcast on the tiny doors dotted around ATL and the artists that make and decorate them. I highly recommend you give it a listen!
Oh that's awesome! I saw a handful of the tiny doors around Atlanta when I was there and my friend explained what she knew about them to me. Very cool that Atlas Obscura did a deep dive!
Thanks for watching! All the place names and links are in the video description below the video under the “Mentioned In Video” section - hope that helps! In my newer videos I’ve been trying to add more place markers on screen, too. Sorry for any inconvenience but I hope the links will help if you read the description!
I'll be visiting Atlanta for New Years week. I'll be there for around 5 days. I intend on going to the Coke museum and Zoo Atlanta but likely will pass up the aquarium as its kinda expensive. I'll also pass on Stone Mountain as I have a fear of heights. In terms of restaurants, I'll mostly be eating at Waffle House or Bojangles as they don't have them where I live (San Diego) but I also want to try Mary Mac's Tea Room after watching a Wolter's World video on Atlanta.
Sounds like you've done some great research and planning, and have a good itinerary lined up for what you like! And interesting, I didn't realize they don't have Waffle Houses in San Diego, so you taught me something new!
Haha! I suppose it's four categories of things, yes. I tried to give you lot's of ideas based on what your interests are within each of the four categories!
@Means To Travel thank you 😊. My best friend moved to Atlanta 3 years ago so now I go once a year to visit him. You gave me a lot of good ideas 💡 for us to do.
I like Helen, but even they will admit they have no German heritage, it was just an idea to attract tourist to a town on hard times, and it worked. Atlanta is a center for higher education with 32 colleges and universities such as Georgia Tech, Emory and HBCUs like Clark and Morehouse. Why you would direct people two hours east to visit a college well outside the metropolitan area is an insult to all the great universities actually within metro Atlanta. Would you tell people visiting New York to take a day trip to Syracuse?
Haha please know I wasn't hating on Atlanta schools, but it wouldn't be a day trip if you stayed within Atlanta! It would just be another local attraction. Plus, two of my best friends went to Georgia, so I'm happy to share about the college town they love. 😇
Also, I know this is a bit pedantic, but as someone who used to live in NYC for many many years, Syracuse is too far away for a daytrip. BUT! I went to IU and would 100% say to take a daytrip to Bloomington if you visit Indy (one hour away) because Bloomington is so fun!

Thanks so much for mentioning it!
I needed this video: I hear so much about Atlanta but have no idea what’s actually there
I felt similarly until I went to visit last spring! So glad you found this helpful to show you the city sites!!! 😀
@@MeansToTravel I feel Chicago suffers from the same fate (to international tourist) so that’s why these videos are great
Food tours are the bomb 🔥
YOU KNOW IT!
About to go to Atlanta tomorrow so this is a great video, thank you so much!
So glad you found this video helpful! Hope you have a fantastic trip to ATL! 😀

YESSS! Thank you for the pronunciation key! Let me know how you end up liking some of these spots next time you visit! 😀

Hope you have a fun time exploring Atlanta! Those are definitely popular attractions. 😀
You omitted Stone Mountain and the Confederate Memorial carved into the mountainside.
Thanks for adding your local tips!
Good stuff,ATL is a cool city.
Thanks Eric!! Yeah it was such a great city to visit and explore!
Eliz, nice to see your tips on Atlanta! How does Athens compare to Bloomington? REM started/developed in Athens, which is how I became aware of it.
Good question! We actually didn't spend enough time in Athens to really say, since this was such a quick trip. I think it deserves its own long weekend! (for research, of course 😀)

Great extra tips! I actually didn't know that about Athens, so you've taught me something new!
How long does it take to tour Aquarium and MLK center?
It probably all depends on how interested you are in the exhibits, but I'd say a couple hours minimum at each! Have fun in Atlanta!
Eliz, Atlas Obscura just did a podcast on the tiny doors dotted around ATL and the artists that make and decorate them. I highly recommend you give it a listen!

FYI… Dahlonega is pronounced “duh-lawn-eh-gah” 😏
Thanks for this!
Love from india
Thank you!
I ❤ this video, but why is it called 4 things? She mentioned like 20. LOL
